Latest on the news today suggesting that everyone under 40 should ignore Covid rules and go back to pre lockdown rules. How do you feel about this?

Everyone knows the under 40's are totally immune to infection, never asymptomatic and therefore won't be spreading it around to the whole community.

It’s a bit like that magic door that schools have that the virus can’t get through, or this magical superpower immune system that us teachers have that mean we don’t need PPE or social distancing because we just won’t get the virus.
Oh wait .........[/quote]
Sad but true factual post Grin

I’m 37 and DH is 42, so am I meant to lock him the attic or something? Because he’ll never fit. There’s no room for him,
the suitcases and the Christmas decorations. Something’s going to have to go Hmm

I'm 30 with two young children on mat leave. The current "restrictions" to my life are wearing a mask and social distancing. Asides from my very immediate family I've been trying to practice social distancing for the last 10 years and the mask is no real hardship. It won't impact on my life in any quantifiable way.

All this stuff is bullshit, all of it contradictory.

Every single potential measure is leaked out to try to gauge public appetite.

They are sending this out in order that when they try to suggest restrictions on over 50s (or 55s) as previously mooted everyone will think, oh ok then. They always do this - intimate something people rail at and then claw back to something slightly less dystopian. It's robably got a marketing or political technique name

DP would love the idea of never leaving the house again. he's been practising for middle age all his life.

Unfortunately, I'd be locked up with him and as the one saving grace of this whole thing has been that he's been back at work since June, it's probably for the best that this isn't enacted.

I think you credit Boris / the government with more creativity and organisation than is the case and instead it’s a leaky shambolic mess

I would just ignore it lm afraid -lm a few weeks into my 40’s and look / feel younger so would follow advice for the under 40’s. But would continue to wear a mask in shops etc, regular hand washing etc. As a lot of them are for the benefit of others, rather than me

Well if the over 40's are locked up how are we going to pay this?

Why under 40s
Should be everyone and if you feel youre individually at risk or in higher risk category take your own risk assessments on situations and places
I’m mid 40s and v happy to carry on as before
2 key things - strict infection control in hospitals and doctors etc and strict measures in care homes

@hopsalong

I'm over 40 (just) and I think this is an excellent idea for a couple of weeks. The point isn't locking older people up. It's getting young people infected. Herd immunity, don't you remember?

And the young people will come home and give it to their parents.

Yes please! I'm 35 and I'd give anything to get back to normality. It's been long enough.

What about those of us over 40 with babies and primary aged children? I'm not quite sure which decade this government is living in but over 40 doesn't mean you're ready for your pipe and slippers anymore! I know more people in their 40s with young children than people in their 20s! Me included.

I'm 25. I have hospital appts twice a week right now and you have to wear a mask. Without fail it is always the over 55/60ish group who are sat in the waiting room with their masks pulled down below their chin. Mouth and nose fully out. Every time I go this happens. Last week a man coughed at me - thank goodness I was wearing my mask.

I don’t know I’m 37 but overweight so does that make me as at risk as someone a couple of years older - I have no idea. To be fair I’m fairly antisocial anyway so that will work our fine for me.

I disagree with this. Given transmission with a person having no symptoms.

And isn't Dominic Cummings over 40?

The local cluster near me was majority under 30s. It was also the same in other areas.
The problem is the arrogant who think the rules dont apply to them.

Well, that's probably most of the Government if its over 40's to stay in now, last week it was over 50s that would have to stay in plus all the fat people, so only the young and good looking allowed out.

Or more specifically, only the young, good looking, healthy and white - hang on a minute, didn't someone already try that?

OP, if you saw this reported on ITV news why not head over to their website, grab the link and share it with us.

Sounds like a plan! I'll identify as under 40 and get back to normal quite happily.

The other way to look at this is, it must be the week that all the donkeys are coming up with ideas. This and now face masks should be worn when having a shag.

I wonder what today will bring... 🤔

My experience is totally the opposite.

Impressive infection control

Greeted outside the hospital and protocol explained

Temperature taken, hand sanitiser required and mask provided (and shown how to correctly fit and wear).

No waiting room - taken straight to relevant room.

Staff wearing PPE
