The DC have roped me into doing the Harry Potter marathon tomorrow. We're starting at 6am. How to make it bearable?!

We love HP. The DC and I have read the books together 3 times. I don't know how they talked me into this though - apparently it's going to start at 6am and go through till 2am Shock

Anyone done it? Anyone got any tips? I will be enforcing screen breaks throughout I think!

Slightly jealous as my DC are too young for this.

Good luck. Mine have commenced a one-HP-per-evening session, much more manageable!

I must be a horrible parent because I would never in a million years agree to something like that ..... I would rather spend the day doing housework. Grin

Do you have to sit there with them? Can you fake a migraine? (Surely you will have one anyway after a whole day watching films?)

Do it over 2-3 days!

We all love HP too, but there's no way on earth I'd be staying up from 6am to 2am watching films, not if you paid me! Besides, dd wouldn't get up at 6 for anything and ds would be asleep by 10pm! And dh already thinks we watch the films too often!

Why a 6am start?

(My only issue!)

Okay scrap that, evident brain fart: later start = later finish

As you were, nothing to see here...

My 10 year old would be well up for this. We have seen the films so many times that we pretty much know the script.

I remember staying with my gran when I was younger (grandad was in the RAF so away a lot). We would go and buy lots of snacks and have movie days, literally watch films back to back and they were always my choice so often the same few repeated (she must have been bored stiff)! But she never once moaned and they are the best memories and ones I will always remember

@justwinginglife that's lovely.

I'm definitely going to be pottering (LOL) about while they're on - I'm also halfway through a jigsaw so might do some of that in front of one of the films. And maybe some online shopping! It's not going to be a strict sort of marathon!

@coronafiona I draw the line at running. It's too hot. Not that I run in the winter either Wink

@coronafiona you’re not the only one! I was thinking ‘OMG who wants to wear Harry Potter costumes and run in this heat??’

Good morning! Is the marathon going ahead? Has the Philosopher's Stone been mentioned yet?

I love HP but I'd do it over 2 or 3 days. I couldn't watch that many hours of tv in one day.

Yep! We've got to the first Quidditch match!

DD is 13 and has finally realised Oliver Wood is very good looking Grin

I know it may be tedious, but they will love that you did it with them, you've inspired us to do it but I think we'll wait till it's colder !

I’d love to do this - DS1 would definitely be up for it, DS2 not so much but may be persuaded with snacks and pizza delivery.

I raise you to lord of the rings... we did that at a cinema where they served tea/coffee throughout the films and lavish buffet food between films.
I have to admit to sleeping through some of the last one... and my butt hurt!

Every time someone says "wand", mentally replace the word with "penis".

Eg "My penis, I think I broke my penis!"

It makes the films more amusing, especially when Harry's penis connects with Voldemort's and all the white stuff comes out...
