Got to spend £170 in Asda - what to buy?

I know it's a nice problem to have... we have about £170 of credit card cash back vouchers to spend in Asda in the next two weeks. Have to spend all the voucher at once (one is £94 and one is £78).

What shall we buy? We had a look today but couldn't agree. I had thoughts of a Kitchenaid type mixer but they didn't have any.

Any thoughts? What would you get? Would kind if like it to be something nicer than the week's shopping! !

If it was me I'd be buying all the kids school uniforms shoes etc but that's not really very interesting Grin

What about the electronics section? New TV?

Handbaghag · 02/08/2020 19:46

Candles, home wares like chenille throws? New bedding? Christmas presents? Clothing?

fussygalore118 · 02/08/2020 19:50

I would refill my drinks cabinet with lots of lovely gin, vodka amaretto etc.... perhaps some new bedding i bought some sheets there recently after a vomiting bug the kids had and I ran out and they are surprisingly lovely!

BrieAndChilli · 02/08/2020 19:51

You could always buy the shopping with the vouchers and then spend the money you would have on shopping on whatever you like from whatever shop you like!! Or likewise kids uniform if you were going to buy some of it from there anyway etc

chipsandpeas · 02/08/2020 19:53

my local asda do silent night duvets and pillows - get them and new bedding
new towels
any electronic accessories

clothes
shoes

christmas presents

streamlinedcaverns · 02/08/2020 19:53

I'd refill the food cupboards in case of a rainy day.

Shmithecat2 · 02/08/2020 19:54

Scoville Never Stick pots and pans!

iMatter · 02/08/2020 19:56

I know I'm boring but I'd buy stacks of washing powder, dishwasher tablets, loo roll, soap, cans etc!

LBOCS2 · 02/08/2020 19:57

Can you spend them online? Asda direct has a much better selection than a lot of the actual stores do.

goingtotown · 02/08/2020 19:57

Buy the food mixer online.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/08/2020 20:03

Just do your grocery shopping there and use the money freed up to buy whatever you want in less of a rush.

sleepyhead · 02/08/2020 20:07

What pp said. Do your shopping in Asda for 2 weeks and use the money you save to buy your KitchenAid elsewhere.

Do the t&cs let you buy gift vouchers with them?

isthismylifenow · 02/08/2020 20:08

You asked what I would do. That would be spend the vouchers on groceries then save what you would have spent. You don't seem to be in need of anything otherwise you wouldnt be asking how to spend it. Then when you really need something, use the savings.

beela · 02/08/2020 20:09

Wine.

shinynewapple2020 · 02/08/2020 20:13

I'd do two weeks shopping with extra booze and treats

tillytoodles1 · 02/08/2020 20:17

Lots of food shopping, extra booze and some sheets.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/08/2020 20:18

Brexit stash
Christmas shopping

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 02/08/2020 20:19

I would try and invest it as vouchers so that I can use in the future if having a low money month

clary · 02/08/2020 20:32

Some great ideas thanks. I did wonder about Christmas presents actually, may have to make a list. Also towels is a shout. Not thought about bedding, will have a look. We could do with new pillows (dull tho)

Kids too old for uniforms tho that's a good thought otherwise. Drink is obv always good.

Can't use the vouchers online sadly. Maybe you are all right, but the groceries there for two weeks (have two vouchers so I can do that) and then use the saved money for the Kitchenaid! Or maybe an egg chair for the garden ... (sat in a friend's yesterday and it was ace!)

Assuming you don't want groceries I'd probably look at electronics. For me a new phone would be great, my current one is beat up.

Decent quality cookware is an option if you want to replace what you currently have, though I doubt that would use the whole budget.

CrockyBetter · 02/08/2020 20:35

Can you get some things for christmas?

Or just get extra non perishables with your normal shop.

Holothane · 02/08/2020 20:37

Bedding candles prawns scampi clothes what a lovely time you’ll have.

InTheWings · 02/08/2020 20:37

I’d get the week’s shopping with it and then spend the shopping money on something you really want.

Puffinhead · 02/08/2020 20:38

Me too. And socks!
mycatsbetterthanyours · 02/08/2020 20:40

I had this issue, albeit considerably less than your voucher and you can use them online at george.com. I did and it went through OK.
