Got to spend £170 in Asda - what to buy?

I know it's a nice problem to have... we have about £170 of credit card cash back vouchers to spend in Asda in the next two weeks. Have to spend all the voucher at once (one is £94 and one is £78).

What shall we buy? We had a look today but couldn't agree. I had thoughts of a Kitchenaid type mixer but they didn't have any.

Any thoughts? What would you get? Would kind if like it to be something nicer than the week's shopping! !

Def think buy your groceries with it then buy the kitchen aid! One thing you really want and can keep for years over a dozen things you only quite like.

@mycatsbetterthanyours

I had this issue, albeit considerably less than your voucher and you can use them online at george.com. I did and it went through OK.
Ah interesting! It does say on my voucher that I can't spend it online tho, so maybe they have changed the T&Cs.

I’d just buy my normal shopping then use the cash I’d normal spend of something hing else like a few nice meals out or a theme park day out for the whole family.

Gin. Lots of gin.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/08/2020 21:16

Spend it all on weekly food then transfer £170 cash for your kitchen aid.

Hairydilemma · 02/08/2020 21:20

We had this and bought 6 bottles of champagne. All gone now so you’ve reminded me I need to spend the next lot - thank you!

nancybotwinbloom · 02/08/2020 21:49

Can you spend them in George?

Lots of good bits and pieces.

The kids wear is great.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/08/2020 21:49

How did you get the voucher OP?

BonfireStarter · 02/08/2020 21:52

Gas barbecue?

If your dc are older teens you could buy yourself some alcohol & spend the rest on fresh pizza, doughnuts and coke. Then enjoy a relaxing weekend getting drunk without being told at hourly intervals there is never anything nice to eat in this house.

copperoliver · 02/08/2020 22:17

Food. Fill the cupboards and the freezer x

Girlswithflowers · 02/08/2020 22:40

Food - things are going to get tough and I think everyone is in denial.

If you can't use your voucher to buy george online, or can't spend £90 in a weekly shop, just get one or two 'big ticket' items like a hoover/tv/ etc, then return them the next day - they will stick it on a normal asda gift card that you can spend where/whenever/whatever increments you want

If not, maybe just have a wander one night when it's quiet. I've had some surprisingly nice clothes/house decorations from asda - including my comfiest work shoes EVER (£6 compared to the £65 I'd usually spend in Clarks for similar looking but not as comfy ones)

But if you do spend it on groceries their make your own pizzas won't get you to the £96 mark alone but are really really nice, much better and miles cheaper than dominos etc. You can freeze if not cooking that day.

Big stores also have a good make up/shampoo/conditioner etc range if you need to stock up on any basics too

Gingerkittykat · 02/08/2020 22:59

I would personally use a big chunk on essentials to get me through the winter, things like bulk buying toilet roll, kitchen roll, laundry products, cleaning supplies and pet food. I would also stock up on loads of essentials in case I need to self isolate for a fortnight over the winter at some point.

I don't think their range of items for gifting is great but they do have really nice homeware.
