Sore hands- help!

I'm wondering if anyone has any amazing solutions for my poor hands. The washing/hand gelling etc etc has made my hands so sore and itchy that they are driving me mad. I've bought some Burt's Bees hand cream but it's doing nothing. Anyone got any suggestions for something to help sort it?

They both look great, thanks lots. I don't normally have an issue with dry skin etc but the hand gelling constantly is causing me massive issues. I'll buy both of those suggestions and see which one works for me!

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is great, available in supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug, local pharmacies.

I'm pondering getting some cotton gloves and lashing on the cream then leaving it overnight.

Aveeno skin relief for hands has been great and we were given small pots of centraben at work which is also good.
I sometimes have to put sudo cream on the really sore bits overnight.

La Roche posay cicaplast baume, I feel like telling everyone to have this in th hair cupboards for winter hands to soothe cuts or really dry hands!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/08/2020 22:21

Yes to cotton gloves. Not a lot of fun on hot nights but it does help to keep the moisturiser on your hands and let it really soak in.

DerekTheDodo · 01/08/2020 22:22

Came here to suggest okeeffes working hands, but it's already been suggested.

Startofsomethingnew20 · 01/08/2020 22:22

Another vote for Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. Will sort them out in a few days!

Jerble · 01/08/2020 22:28

Yet another vote for the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula here. There’s an unscented version which is ideal for me.

Aveeno hand cream is the only thing that regularly works for me - it has to be the one with the green lid rather than blue (blue is meant to be extra moisturising but makes mine worse)

dododotheconga · 01/08/2020 22:42

Thanks all. Some fantastic suggestions. I'll get ordering now. I am truly being driven mad by the itching at the moment. Anything that sorts it will be worth its weight in gold.

Personally I can't use the O'Keefes at all - stings like f**k!! I've been using oilatum cream or epaderm -easily available from the pharmacy.

Tryingtogetitright · 01/08/2020 22:45

Try swapping from liquid handwash to bar soap - made the world of difference to my hands. They were so dry and cracked before I made the change but now I hardly ever need to use handcream.

dododotheconga · 01/08/2020 22:47

I think it's the hand gel that's causing the issue to be honest. I've never had a problem until now. Someone suggested carrying antibacterial wipes instead but I can't imagine they'd be any better really.

E45 cream. Definitely swap to bar soap. It won't just be the hand gel, it's a cumulative effect. I find Dove Beauty Bars are the least drying, unless you can get your hands on some camel milk soap.

Bananabread8 · 01/08/2020 23:01

This cream from the body shop. It’s fantastic it’s quite a thick cream, not sticky and repairs your skin really quickly. From The body shop.

Sore hands- help!
MrsTravers · 02/08/2020 07:38

I've suffered from eczema on my hands for most of my life and have tried most of the creams above. Can't use the body shop hemp cream or E45 - I think they both have lanolin in, which seems to make mine worse.

There's an amazing cream I found a couple of years ago called Dermalex - they do an eczema cream which I find clears up flare ups as well as steroids and then they also do a moisturiser which keeps it at bay once cleared. It's not the cheapest, but I've had the longest spell without eczema for ages.

There is an element of trial and error, though - I know my cousin, who has even worse eczema, swears by the body shop hemp cream.

Hope you find something that works for you - also second the gloves suggestion!

Deathraystare · 02/08/2020 07:52

My aunt would swear by Atrixo. She put it on at night and then put on cotton gloves.

My mum used to use it too (anything mum used, my aunt would copy) but ended up getting ointment from the GP for contact dermatitis - she had it really bad and her skin would split open

flapjackfairy · 02/08/2020 07:56

I have had a problem with cracked sore hands my whole life until I read on a thread on here that castille soap is pure and has no chemicals in that dry the skin out. I buy the liquid one and it is excellent and I have had no problems since though alcohol in sanitiser has the same effect sadly so it is a bit harder at the moment but my hands are still fine despite that .

Lonecatwithkitten · 02/08/2020 08:14

Washing between each patient for years this has been my life where possible use bar soap rather than liquid. Thoroughly dry everytime. Hand cream at least three times a day, I use neutrogena during the day and Liz Earle Hans repair before bed.

larrythelizard · 02/08/2020 08:38

I discovered that an ingredient called linalool caused my contact dermatitis. I systematically removed it from the house.

DH thinks it's also helped how dry his hands were.

Definitely worth investigating!

cheeseychovolate · 02/08/2020 08:45

Bar soap has stopped my dry cracked hands.

Oldraver · 02/08/2020 10:41

I have bad eczema on my hands so they end up with raw bits which don't take too well to sanitizer

If you go in a shop that demands you use it I pop on a pair of gloves then use the sanitiser

somewheresorted · 02/08/2020 10:51

Another vote for Aveeno
