If you’re furloughed or WFH - when are you expected back?

As the title. I’m so worried for my job, we’re crossing our fingers that when furlough ends things will pick up for us! So I’m curious, if you’re furloughed - when are you expected back?

Also if you’re currently working from home, when are you expected Back in the office?

Thanks x

WFH but don’t know when we will go back. Central London so public transport is the big issue. Most happy to stay WFH but some are desperate to go back to the office.

NewKittyMeow · 27/07/2020 17:33

WFH. Not expected back until all childcare/caring logistics are sorted out (eg for me this would be holiday clubs running, schools open full time, wraparound provision back up).

DH WFH - his company is less considerate but still not expected back until September at the earliest, and then not full time in the office.

Purpleartichoke · 27/07/2020 17:33

I already wfh. DH is now wfh and isn’t expected back in the office for at least another year. Starting this fall, they may be allowed back in the office for a few hours or a day if they can show a business need and get permission in advance.

Trumpspeach · 27/07/2020 17:35

WFH. Possibly back in early September but that's not been officially confirmed.

potter5 · 27/07/2020 17:35

I'm back from furlough but only 2 days per week at the moment.

frustrationcentral · 27/07/2020 17:38

Absolutely no idea. Very part time hours which I only started in January. I haven't heard from my employer since April! I suspect there is a WhatsApp group that I'm not part of or something. I'm not too bothered, I'm planning on looking for something else anyway

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/07/2020 17:39

I go back next week. Been on furlough since 23rd March. I'll be going back to the office as the nature of my job means I can't do it from home.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 27/07/2020 17:39

I've been WFH. I'm not expected back in the office full-time for the foreseeable future. I started going in one day a week a couple of weeks ago but only because my boss was going in on that day. The company made about 50 people redundant last month but have said they won't be making any more redundancies now.

DP was furloughed but started back about 3 weeks ago. He's in one day a week and WFH the other days.

Potatoface12 · 27/07/2020 17:40

I’m back from furlough next week and very excited! Rest of the office were all summonsed in last week full time again, which has ruffled feathers as it has now been proved people can wfh so there’s no point except to see bums on seats. For now, I’m SO excited about going back into work. Give it a week and I expect the novelty will of worn off again though!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/07/2020 17:42

@dozzyf I am going back to the office full time, I'm in manufacturing and need to be on site to communicate efficiently with the factory staff.

buzz91 · 27/07/2020 17:47

I’m wfh, not expecting to go back until September at the earliest

kitschplease · 27/07/2020 18:08

Wfh. Phased return between now and Christmas, but no details on how that will actually be implemented.

dozzyf · 27/07/2020 18:15

@Waxonwaxoff0 I'm sure plenty are going back I meant my peers who work for law firms, banks, big 4, tech etc.

I only know one person who was furloughed but aware that's maybe unusual.

Reviewing WFH and the Brexit impact March 2021.

pointythings · 27/07/2020 18:20

I am WFH - NHS, not front line. We have been told that full time back in the office is very unlikely - the cost savings from remote working have been immense, and that money is better spent on clinical services. So we're looking at WFH until Christmas and then likely office based on rotation. I'm happy with that, it suits me down to the ground.

AccountAntsy · 27/07/2020 18:21

WFH and likely to be for the remainder of 2020. I never thought I’d miss the office but I’d love to go in just one day a week to break up the tedium!

Chuly · 27/07/2020 18:23

WFH. Not expected back until next year, and then probably only an odd day in the office here and there if required.

mindutopia · 27/07/2020 18:28

We've been told that unless we need to be on site to work (only 25% allowed in any one day and you have to get it approved), we can be expected to WFH until January. I have no need to be in the office as everything I do, including teaching, is now remote. So I won't plan to be back before the new year. It's a bit of a pain because I actually like being in the office, but I'm saving a shedload on commuting costs.

M0nstermunch · 27/07/2020 18:29

WFH until next year now

Nowthereistwo · 27/07/2020 18:30

I was in furlough for 8 weeks, then WFH, now back in the office 3 days a week. Also manufacturing (I can see a theme) and very much bums on seats as can all WFH

dozzyf · 27/07/2020 18:31

the impact on transport will be huge, I wonder if 3 days next year will be the cost of 5.

loutypips · 27/07/2020 18:42

WFH and hope to stay this way! I'm going to push to only go in once a week when this is all over.

tass1960 · 27/07/2020 18:53

Still furloughed and have no idea for how much longer. My firm have been shocking at keeping us informed. I had a heated email exchange with HR last week because they didn't like that I was asking questions. I can feel another one coming on Hmm

littlecrocodiles · 27/07/2020 18:54

WFH (local authority). No idea if/when we'll be expected back in the office. No wrap around childcare available until Jan at the earliest.
DH wfh full time before lockdown anyway, and as his frequent business trips are curtailed for the foreseeable future, between us we can still do the school run.

flowerlessorchid · 27/07/2020 20:06

WFH currently but they want a team presence from the 1st September just before the students come back to study. As I'm the only one in my team I assume that means I will have to go back in the office full time, which is a real shame as I've proved I can do my job at least partly WFH (since I've been doing that since March) and I'm saving a fortune on petrol. Long term they want everyone back in as they did pre-Covid.

I'm very jealous of people who know they will be WFH for the rest of the year and more regularly going forwards.
