Pretty much as the title says... where the fuck has it come from Confused

I rinsed the bath out with the shower as I usually do before I started running it so it deffinatley wasnt there. Has it actually come out of the tap?

Its about half a cm long, has a bit of a tail and two little ear prongs, very much alive and swimming. Sort of looks like a sea money but I dont think that's what it is.

I was quite looking forward to a bath, it's been a long day, but I wasnt keen on having company so I've had a shower instead.
tries to block out the thoughts of the little fuckers potentially coming out of the shower head

Where is it now?

MrsWooster · 19/07/2020 21:42

Could it be a silverfish?

WhereAreAllTheTeaspoons · 19/07/2020 21:42

In a cup, I'm trying to get a photo but my camera wont focus so it's just a brown blurry smudge.

My first thought would be silverfish

BadBadBeans · 19/07/2020 21:42

Silver fish?

Crispsnatcher · 19/07/2020 21:43

Give it a name OP.

Tolleshunt · 19/07/2020 21:44

Ah, this occasionally happens in the Thames Water area in the summer. They’re harmless but shouldn’t be there. Tell the water company and they’ll get rid of them.

WhereAreAllTheTeaspoons · 19/07/2020 21:44

Similar to a silver fish but it looks to have more legs (sort of like sea monkey legs) and its tail is different.

Sounds like a silver fish. No idea where they come from, but I've only ever seen them in bathrooms. More then one would concern me.

userxx · 19/07/2020 21:46

I'm sure someone on here the other day was going to flush her sea monkeys down the loo......

DaphneFanshaw · 19/07/2020 21:46

Bloody hell, maybe it's on an epic journey to find its long lost family and some how took a wrong turn into your bath tub

Diverseduvet · 19/07/2020 21:46

Less common silverfish?!

NameChange84 · 19/07/2020 21:47

I think I’d cry if this happened to me. It’s like a childhood fear. First a little shrimp coming up the plug hole, next time Moby Dick Sad

AriettyHomily · 19/07/2020 21:49

Silverfish?

Nah.

All the spiders and moths would come back and take their revenge first. Sad

Witchend · 19/07/2020 21:54

Silver fish are lovely. I think every house has them.

40andginger · 19/07/2020 21:55

If your water comes from a tank then something could have got in there!
I had maggots coming out my hot water and it turns out a bird had somehow got into the tank
Pretty grim

EnvyEnvy at the thought of maggots coming from the tap.

Yuck. I second a something from your water tank. We found several dead rats in ours as a child. Envy < not envy

PhoneLock · 19/07/2020 22:01

We have a spring with a pump on it outside. There are little shrimps in the water from that.

MitziK · 19/07/2020 22:01

Mosquito larvae?

If it is, you probably need to check your cold water tank is covered.

magicmarker11 · 19/07/2020 22:04

That's a mosquito larvae. I found a bucket of them in some rainwater when I was a kid. Stuck it under my bed. My mum has to get pest control out 😂

Animals in Water

These animals and algae are normally not visible to the naked eye, however certain species such as Asellus (fresh water shrimps) or Chironomids (midge fly larvae) are slightly larger and may be seen without a microscope.
