I need girls' school blouse help, please

Dd1 has rather large boobs. Last year she wore age 17-18 boys shirts to accommodate them. I asked her to try them on today as I had a feeling they wouldn't fit, & they're incredibly tight around her chest so definitely no good for the next school year.

Where on earth do I buy school shirts/blouses in bigger fittings (plus size? But then they may be too big everywhere else?) Or, if it comes to it, how do I work out what size men's shirts to buy? Chest or neck size?

HELP!

I got Dd Asda plus fit age 17/18 she has a 40D bust, I had her try them on the other day.
She has some John Lewis ones that fit too.

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 16/07/2020 22:02

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 16/07/2020 22:02

I started typing a reply last night then got distracted & have just found it Blush

Thank you for the suggestions.

Asda plus fit wouldn't be big enough I don't think; I've just measured & she has a 47" chest at the widest part (if that makes sense). I will look though.

John Lewis aren't going to be big enough either, unless I've missed some.

I wonder how men's shirts would fit. I suspect the rest may be too big if I order big enough for her chest 🤷‍♀️

This why Dd will be going to the local college for A levels, she's still growing in the boob area, no way will I find blouses for another two years, she goes in year 11 and we can still fit for this coming year.
Rediculous isn't it. Kids are developing and uniforms don't work for them.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 11:53

It's really frustrating! I'm just glad I got her to try them now rather than in a few weeks (and that she hasn't been wearing them - the strain on the buttons was quite something!).

I'm going to double check John Lewis then look at men's I think. I'm not sure where else to try & don't think I fancy making school shirts.

I’ve had some smart work shirts from Bravissimo, which are bigger across the chest, so you don’t get that gaping at the buttons on the front.

Might not be school-ish enough, but maybe worth a look.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 12:17

Thanks RedCrayons I had a look on there last night but don't think the one white short-sleeved one on there would be school-ish enough :/

They are £££, but some shirts here which some might be ok for school? I only ever bought them in the sale.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 12:24

Wow, she'd need a 17.5" collar according to Asda's size chart. I don't know how that'd fit everywhere else 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Groovee · 17/07/2020 12:27

Asda were selling school blouses for actual clothes sizes and not ages.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 13:09

I didn't see those Groovee, I'll go back for another look.

Its ridiculous, my daughter is 5ft with a 34f chest ..where tf am I getting a shirt that doesn't have a collar size of 16++ inches 🙈😡

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 17:47

I'm very tempted to call school & ask exactly where I'm meant to get a shirt that isn't either a size 20-24 (depending where I've looked) or a 17.5" collar. Both sizes will absolutely swamp the rest of her Confused

Watching with interest.
Dd is 13, 5ft 10, 31 inside leg, 46in bust and size 10 shoe.
I dread this time of year.
I did find plain white, short sleeve blouse on amazon for 13 quid. 46 in chest. Think I'm going to get her some of them.

Marmite27 · 17/07/2020 18:13

I had men’s shirts from next for school at her age. My mum put darts in the sides to nip in some of the excess fabric.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 18:20

@Rowgtfc72 any chance of the amazon link to have a look at? :)

Marmite, I think I'll end up doing that tbh.

Marks and Sparks were good for blouses and blazers for my daughter's over ample bust.

I have no idea where she got those from. Confused

www.amazon.co.uk/School-Uniform-Ladies-Sleeve-Workwear/dp/B00UJVU07I?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
Dont know how to make it a clicky link @lucysmam. Sorry!

Angelnix · 17/07/2020 21:33

Sturdy kids is what you're looking for

Not the cheapest, but we have a similar problem with a bigger busted teenager. She's had school shirts/blouses here for a while now, good quality and wash well.

lucysmam · 17/07/2020 23:02

@Angelnix thank you so much! The short sleeved ones look spot on. Fingers crossed for very little growth over the next couple of years 🤞

Minesateaorthree · 17/07/2020 23:25

My daughter had this trouble too. Sainsbury's men's in a 17 1/2 collar fit really nicely all over. The sleeves are good length and the arm holes aren't so tight they rub her underarms unlike other brands. John Lewis was good the previous year but now too small.

Rowgtfc72 · 18/07/2020 07:11

@Angelnix, just ordered some.
Thanks for that link.

lucysmam · 19/07/2020 22:53

@Minesateaorthree is the neck not massive on them?

I could put darts in to reduce bagginess if needed but wasn't sure about the collar & don't know anyone who wears that size to borrow a shirt from.

Payday's Friday so hopefully there will still be some left on sturdykids by then!
