Just out of interest
Haven't decided if I want another yet

I had my first at 35 (2 months before 36th birthday) and my second at 38 (1 month after my birthday. So there's 2 years 3 months between them. DC2 was conceived when DC1 was 18 months old.

WeAllHaveWings · 10/07/2020 14:33

Had ds at 35, tried for 2nd at 37 for a couple years or so and it just didn't happen. Had quick exam/blood test at Drs, but decided, looking into any further medical interventions just wasn't for us and to be thankful for what we had.

Gymntonic · 10/07/2020 14:36

36 nearly 37, 39 (took a few months to get pregnant), 41 ( did not take a few months to get pregnant)

lockdownhairisbad · 10/07/2020 14:37

1st at 38, 2nd at 40, 3rd at 41. Pretty relentless in places, but years on it was worth it and If I had my time again I would have tried for one more.

Seasiderabbit · 10/07/2020 14:41

First at 36, second at 40. Perfect age gap, they get on great. Very little squabbling. Oldest went to school a month before new baby arrived. It took between age 36 and 40 to decide we wanted another. Got pregnant both times quite quickly.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 10/07/2020 14:42

I had my first at 35, my second at 36 (13 month gap) and my third at 37

princessbananahammock252 · 10/07/2020 14:44

I had my first at 35. I am 38 now and currently 10 weeks pregnant with my second.

BurtsBeesKnees · 10/07/2020 14:45

First at 35, tried for 18 months for number two when I was about 38, we couldn't conceive again

@Lady1576

Just had my first (36) and now know that I’d love to have a second. Any tips? Had a good pregnancy and birth but feeling super achey in my knees. Not sure if this is a) normal b) because I am older c) lockdown + baby = not very mobile d) unfit to begin with e) something else.
I was super achey in my knees and ankles after my first too, age 36. I remember worrying I had arthiritis it was so bad. The aches went away completely, but took several months. I did some research and it might be something to do with hormones produced in pregnancy and labour. Loads of women seem to be feel achey after giving birth. It might be those other things you mention too though! Chances are it will go away in time.
princessbananahammock252 · 10/07/2020 14:46

I forgot to say, it took me 2 years to decide whether I wanted a second child. First child took 18 months to conceive. This time it took 2 months.

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/07/2020 14:46

1st at 37 then miscarriage, miscarriage, miscarriage and second at 40 (gave birth w week away from 41). It was a nightmare. Don’t put it off.

Onthetrain75 · 10/07/2020 14:47

About 5 mins after the first one. Twins!!

Emmacb82 · 10/07/2020 14:48

First 34 and second 38, I like the age gap as my 4 year old is independent and starting school, but feel more guilt as they’ve had more years of just being an only child so the sharing of time is harder. Might try and squeeze in a 3rd so the next gap will be smaller.

Fifthtimelucky · 10/07/2020 15:33

1st at 36. 2nd at 38.

Iloveacurry · 10/07/2020 15:48

1st when I was 35 and a half, 2nd one month before my 38th birthday. 2 years 5 month gap.

madmumofteens · 10/07/2020 15:53

35 then 37 wish I'd started younger tbh menopause and teens is a nightmare x

CountFosco · 10/07/2020 15:57

37, 39 and 41. Pregnant first month of trying each time, 3 healthy children.

Carandi · 10/07/2020 16:01

Had my first at 35. Not by choice but due to fertility problems. Second came along as a surprise 2 years later at 37. There was 25 months between them.

Normandy144 · 10/07/2020 16:08

I had my first literally 2 days after my 36th birthday. There's a 2.9 year gap between mine as 2nd was conceived just after first one turned 2. There's a 3 year school gap between them. We would have gone for a shorter gap but we were moving countries at the time and changing jobs so we needed to get settled first which probably delayed things by about 6 months.

Ishouldtryabiteachdayer · 10/07/2020 18:20

First 35 (a month before I turned 36)
3.5 years between
Second at 39

TheChineseChicken · 10/07/2020 18:21

First at 35.5. Second just turned 39. I’m finding the second much easier than the first

ImFree2doasiwant · 10/07/2020 18:22

1st at 37, 2nd at 38. 18 month gap. Unplanned.

Ishouldtryabiteachdayer · 10/07/2020 18:23

I should say I had a miscarriage in between my two. If that pregnancy had worked out there would of been 2 years and a bit years between instead of 3.5 years.

Personally I think 3 years between is ideal, as 3 year old is relatively independent. But sometimes these things can't be timed exactly.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 10/07/2020 18:27

First at 33, second at 39 after secondary infertility and 3 early mc's. The age gap, while unplanned, is perfect.
