What gives you the most enjoyment in life aside from children?

JPlusTwo · 10/07/2020 06:36

Just a lighthearted thread I guess but all responses welcome.

The dust has settled after a rocky breakup with DH and I now feel like I can reshape who I am and discover what I enjoy in life as opposed to thinking about his happiness all the time!

My children are my whole world but I would love to do something just for me. I guess for now my response would be getting out for long walks in the sunshine, always a huge mood booster!

Nature and doing something I find easy to do well. I also like challenging myself but when I can do something well with little effort, that makes me feel good 😄

Going for long walks in the local countryside with DH and dogs
Daily yoga
Weight training and fitness training
Making my home look beautiful (I’m a home body)
Reading and learning about the universe, the cosmos and history, fact always more interesting than fiction
Having friends and family over, I love to host
Horse riding
Mountain biking
Holidays and planning holidays (always involving an activity like snowboarding or scuba diving, not a fan of nothing but sunbathing)

A cup of tea a packet of biscuits and a read of MN Blush

I do like walking my dog without my children, although walks with kids are completely different style and distance.

Buying gifts for people. I don't know why I enjoy this so much?! I like thinking about what they need, researching it and ordering. I love wrapping and creative packaging, ribbons, labels. I'm not sure I actually get it right, but I try very hard. Sadly not much appreciation but I like doing it.

I like swimming and aqua aerobics with the oldies. I don't get to go despite lockdown, as have a young baby and preschooler. I know friends use the crèche, but I feel bad I'm not speeding the time with my baby when DS is at preschool. Anyway preschool finished soon, and no idea when pools open?

Oh I’m pleased!
It has been one of the best things I’ve done in my life. I volunteer for Homestart, which I would recommend, but you might have something dear to your heart which you can now unleash on Grin

Hot baths with the window wide open. Particularly if it’s cold outside and the rain is pouring.
Music, there is nothing I love more than a gig. I know it’s unimportant in the scheme of things but not being able to watch live music is something I’ve struggled with during lockdown.
Getting tattooed... I feel more and more like myself with each one that I get.
