A theatre voucher.
A restaurant voucher.
A book token so that I could choose a book that I would like to read and not a book that you think I would like to read. I never want to unwrap a Cecilia Ahern book again.
A modest voucher for a clothes shop so that I could choose a teeshirt or top for myself in a colour I would wear, not some random yellow teeshirt without a gift receipt, that one went straight to the charity shop, as did the peculiar blue one the following year.
A modest voucher for a department store so that I could choose a new wallet, not a handbag the size of a suitcase that doesn't actually have much room inside, and not a teeny embellished bag that doesn't have a zip/magnetic fastening so it is of no practical use to me whatsoever, they too went straight to the charity shop.
A simple and single Aveeno, Clarins or L'Occitane shower gel, not a multi-pack of scented "goodies" in a hamper, that will bring me out in a rash whilst they are en route to the charity shop.
A modest voucher for a jewellery shop so I could choose a little pair of stud earrings, not a big glitzy brooch that may never see the light of day.
If people stopped for a second, they'd realise I'm really easy to buy for, my favourite gifts don't require wrapping or gift bags, or much time or energy but they go and complicate things for themselves and for me.
