Just seen a woman trying on a dress OUTSIDE Next

As in stripping off into her underwear and trying the dress on, looking at her reflection in the window, then sending her friend in to get a different size Shock

This is not normal behaviour is it? Has COVID stretched the boundaries of what is considered acceptable to this extent? (I’m assuming her reason was something to do with COVID)

I didn’t put this in AIBU because I’m definitely not BU.

Anyone else seen shocking behaviour recently that wouldn’t have happened pre-pandemic?

I dont understand why some people don't understand why some things are open and some aren't.

It's just small steps isn't it, slowly letting the brakes off then reviewing the results. Obviously people need to have access to the toilet when out but trying clothes on isn't a necessity.

CountessFrog · 30/06/2020 16:08

It’s not a necessity, but many people can’t be arsed to buy clothes if they’ve got to return them.

The shops will go under if we can’t be arsed to go there because there’s no point.

At what point will changing rooms be safe? What are the important factors?

romdowa · 30/06/2020 16:10

More power to her, Its just underwear 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ same thing people wear on the beach.

safariboot · 30/06/2020 16:14

Unusual, but yeah, the alternative at the moment would be go home to try it on, then have an extra drive to return it. Doing it on the spot saves time and pollution.

And as long as your underwear isn't super skimpy, it's not indecent. After all people go around in bikinis and so on.

sonjadog · 30/06/2020 16:14

This wouldn't bother me at all. She obviously didn't want to have to go twice if it didn't fit, so found a way around that. Good for her.

LovingLen · 30/06/2020 16:15

I bet this will be a common sight in the days to come especially as people often go on a shopping trip out of town and may not have a local store to return things to, you can't post it back like you can online.

DameHannahRelf · 30/06/2020 16:16

My sis works in a clothes shop, returns are quarantined for two weeks, so you can't try anything on unless you've bought it. But can see how exposing your undies for a minute might be preferable to gaving to travel hours home to try something on, and back if it doesn't. I could see my mum doing something like this last minute shopping for a party or holiday etc Blush

Whenwillthisbeover · 30/06/2020 16:16

Ha ha ha shouldn’t laugh, but after having to do three 24 mile round trips to get the right thing from Zara and incurring the associated parking and petrol charges, not to mention queuing, I would be tempted to do the same if I dared.

LovingLen · 30/06/2020 16:17

Maybe I should invest in some big trying on in public knickers...

diddl · 30/06/2020 16:19

@LovingLen

Maybe I should invest in some big trying on in public knickers...
Or a towel thing that people change under after swimming?

I'm sure that they must have a name, but I can't think of one!

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 30/06/2020 16:20

This is not normal behaviour is it?

Um.... no,
No it's not Grin
WTF lol, I'd have been the person across the street trying my hardest not to look and do my "what da fuq?!" face lol

, I think it's kind of fair enough!
What, stripping to your underwear in the middle of the street?!
Oooookay Grin

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/06/2020 16:23

I think it’s genius.

As for the person saying what happens with the returned dress, is the virus shaken off it? It’s no different than all the other clothes which people have picked up, touched, etc and then put back on the rack.

People need to take responsibility and wash their hands/gel them after touching stuff in a shop. I view it on the basis that anything I touch outside my house someone else has probably touched before me.

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/06/2020 16:25

And I went in a changing room today and tried someone on. No staff about, no sign saying the changing room wasn’t available. So not sure if it’s the law or if shops can choose....it was one single cubicle for the whole shop. Didn’t fit, I put it back.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 30/06/2020 16:28

And I went in a changing room today and tried someone on

Tried someone on?!
That's even worse lol

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/06/2020 16:37

Lol, I wish. No shenanigans of that sort in the changing room! Grin

Something!

Eminybob · 30/06/2020 16:47

The more I think about it, the more I can understand it.
I didn’t realise that fitting rooms were closed, I just thought she was being weird.
Well obviously it’s still a bit weird, but not as weird as I first thought Grin

Jeees what's happening to the world. Bizarre!

soruff · 30/06/2020 17:12

Warning you might see more of this!
Next has a Sale starting Thursday at 5am.
My friend told me yesterday, she has to be there at 4.30am all smart with a well polished smile.
The Centre doesn't open until later usually so there will be one door open around the back.

She thinks it is so stupid she can't be bothered to be angry.

Eminybob · 30/06/2020 17:50

How are they going to deal with that with social distancing Hmm

OP posts:
Alabamawhirly1 · 30/06/2020 22:19

Actually, if you just went shopping with a slip on under your clothes this would work fine. No need to strip to your undies and expose your wobbly bits.

Or set up one of those pop up tanning tents. Charge people to use it.

Eminybob · 30/06/2020 22:25

Or set up one of those pop up tanning tents. Charge people to use it

Yes! Genius.
