anyone fancy a thread to ask very, very, VERY important questions?

Here's mine; Why does my dishwasher create dry glasses and plates but soaking wet tupperware? hm? hm?

Tupperware vs ceramics: Physics teacher answer

The ceramics store heat better (basically staying warmer for longer) than plastics - partly due to density, partly due to thickness and partly due to more nerdy things (specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity, if you really want to know!).

This stored energy is used to make the water droplets on the surface evaporate.

@ZaZathecat

Oh I wish Simon. They have that in Australia don't tey, or have I imagined that?
Its such a ballache, I don’t even wear the stuff but I have to put it on him and then its hard to wash off as its so greasy. Then because he is so white you have to reapply when you’re out, so then you just have horrible slimey hands and you have to be so careful not to touch your clothes or it leaves stains.

They are all now A+++Rated but they are so much slower.

IIRC wash speed is completely ignored in the ratings of either efficiency or performance. So of course manufacturers just design to the targets. Washing the clothes for longer in the same dirty gone-cold water is what gets them a good environmental rating.

@SimonJT may I suggest the Ambre Solaire Clear Protect spray. It's like it says, a clear (not white) spray, alcohol based. Spray on, rub in, and it dries up quickly and properly in exactly the way normal suncream doesn't.

@Mumdiva99

Is this the place to boast that our dishwasher has a special button to press if you have lots of plastics in so they dry better? Does it work? I don't know because my husband usually switches on the dishwasher and despite working in IT dishwasher buttons are seemingly too complicated to learn.....
@Mumdiva99 Please, oh please, tell me the name of this amazing plastic drying dishwasher???
Mumdiva99 · 02/07/2020 15:06

@Slanabhaile it's just a Bosch. It's the 'extra dry' button.

Thanks mumdiva - will look out for it! Am in desperate need of a new dishwasher Grin

My Miele has the extra dry button. It has led lights inside & the salt reservoir is in the door.
