Your first house with your boyfriend, what gift would you want?

Not an appliance or knives etc.

What's can I buy?!!!!

Budget £50...

Honestly a lovely bouquet delivered to my new house with a lovely card. I think it's the perfect gift!

wheresmymojo · 26/06/2020 22:26

What sort of age?

What kind of people are they?

Hipster?
Party animals?
Corporate career types?
Nerds (not meant in a disparaging sense, nothing wrong with being a nerd!)?
Animal lovers?
Drinkers?

pinkoeony · 26/06/2020 22:32

Ermmmm 25-ish, quirky, dog loving (don't have their own), arty, creative, a bit "out there"

Fancy bedding

dogcatbaby · 26/06/2020 22:33

A dog door stop. When DH first moved we used all sorts to keep a door open before realising door stops exist 🙈

TooMinty · 26/06/2020 22:35

Draught excluder shaped like a daschund?

Ouchjuststoodonlego · 26/06/2020 22:37

We bought my colleague vouchers for somewhere online that you can buy original art from. They went down really well.

wheresmymojo · 26/06/2020 22:38

Just about to head for bed but I always use notonthehighstreet.com for quirky presents.

I recently got a friend a slate cheese board that says 'Hello....is it Brie you're looking for?' which she loved but cheese boards possibly a bit mature for 25?

House plants are having a huge revival amongst 20s and up now...how about something like...

A posh cafetiere like this beauty or a coffee dripper set.

homemadecommunistrussia · 26/06/2020 22:41

Balti dishes. Or a wok?

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 26/06/2020 22:41

Cast iron doormat. Last a lifetime, will never date.
I have two, always looking for different ones to dot around the place.

Agree plants! I think these are cute: www.bloomandwild.com/send-flowers/tagonly/plants

Or something like B&Q vouchers for paint etc?

HalloumiSalad · 26/06/2020 22:48

A print of The Kiss by Gustav Klimt

Chocolatebrownielove · 26/06/2020 22:55

If you're thinking plant, try www.thepresenttree.co.uk. They do small trees, picked to order and all have different meanings. Just bought one for Db and SIL for their new home to wish good fortune and happiness. They both loved it and it's something they can keep (provided they keep it alive). They were delighted to receive it and show it off in their new garden.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 26/06/2020 22:57

a lovely set of screwdrivers, that's what dd is getting if her and the bf buy a place....he was very envious of the set we had in the porch and it's not a thing you can buy when someone still lives with their parents! :o

magicmallow · 26/06/2020 23:01

Vouchers, for a hardware store or ikea so I can choose myself something useful!

chipsandpeas · 26/06/2020 23:02

have to say when i bought my house i prefered vouchers over an actual gift
id bought a lot of stuff beforehand and vouchers mainly next were very appreciated as i got stuff in the sale

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/06/2020 23:04

Huge beautiful white pure cotton bath sheets

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 26/06/2020 23:04

Voucher for a couple of hours of deep clean/gardening

Littlepond · 26/06/2020 23:07

Proper Champagne Grin

ExpletiveDelighted · 26/06/2020 23:11

I agree with tools, my Dad bought me a hammer drill when I bought my first house. Also garden tools. I would rather choose my own art and home decor.

midsomermurderess · 26/06/2020 23:44

Could you find a nice print off say King and McGaw. Great choices, nicely framed. You'd have to know what art they like though.

Sn0tnose · 27/06/2020 00:28

I would go for a voucher for Thrills of the Emporium. They sell stuff which could be considered a bit quirky and they’re a small business rather than a big soulless corporation that sells the same stuff to everyone.

A lovely olive wood chopping board, it's nice to have something to keep for a long time.
