We don't get chinese often at all - but there is a really nice Chinese in my hometown and we go and stay for the weekend a couple of time a year to visit with the extended family - the 'Winter' visit is always a blow out order from this Chinese one evening to share.

My personal highlights would be:

Prawn Toasts
Crispy Seaweed
Satay Chicken
Spring rolls
Crispy Duck and Pancakes
Sweet & Sour Chicken (Hong Kong Style)
Lemon Chicken
Crispy Chilli Beef
Chow Mein
Beef/Chicken Curry
Egg Fried Rice
Chips with extra portions of Sweet & Sour and Curry Sauce for dipping!
ALL the Prawn Crackers!

Bowchicawow · 22/06/2020 16:14

Hot and sour soup
Salt & pepper squid
black bean beef udon
chicken chow mien
pak choi / vegetable oyster
sometimes for a treat i add crispy duck pancakes and gyoza (dumplings) and another dish like szechuan chicken or crispy beef

DC5 and 6 love it. They really only have the noodles though. Same for Thai - they only have Pad Thai (but i dont like Pad Thai)

Chinese is better shared rather than each person ordering their own dish

-salivate over local menu and wonder if IABU to order takeaway twice a week-

fruitbrewhaha · 22/06/2020 16:28

Green or Red curry is lovely, with prawns. I don't eat meat only fish and veg but beef massaman looks nice. Pad thai prawn is yum.

If you like spicy the salads are amazing, papaya salad is not fruity is sweet and sour and hot.

All of it......it's so nice.

Hong-Kong style chicken. I absolutely love beansprouts.

HathorX · 22/06/2020 16:55

Chicken in yellow bean sauce and plain rice, with a side of vegetables. It's about the healthiest thing my Chinese take away serves!

Hyperion100 · 22/06/2020 16:58

Bleurgh....Takeaway Chinese food in this country is pretty gross, over sweetened, sticky goop if you ask me.

Angelonia · 22/06/2020 17:00

Veg spring rolls
Sweet and sour chicken (Chinese style not balls)
Beef in black bean sauce
Egg fried rice
Chow mein

My favourites

Crispy chilli beef
Sweet and sour pork or prawns
Chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce

Bean curd with peppers in black bean sauce
Salt and chilli chips
Boiled rice
Chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce
Vegetable spring rolls
I’d potentially give my left arm for that right now!

Rumtopf · 22/06/2020 17:10

Oh I could murder a pancake roll.
I normally have one of those, and we share salt and chilli squid, Singapore noodles, kung po prawns and dd gets a sweet and sour chicken balls and egg fried rice. Seaweed of course and prawn crackers.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/06/2020 17:32

That might apply to sweet and sour, but seeing as it makes up less than 5% of the menu, there's plenty of other choices that are neither sweet or sticky.

I usually have ha moon vermicelli and put a bit of my own chilli sauce on it as I'm too much of a wimp for Singapore noodles and share some chips and pancake roll with DP. The Chinese takeaway we go to does the best chips I have ever had.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 22/06/2020 17:40

We always get duck and pancakes, salt and chilli squid, and chicken satay. We sometimes get ribs, noodles, hot and sour soup, chicken with ginger and spring onions, singapore noodles and chips with salt and chilli.

Mutabilis · 22/06/2020 17:49

Now I'm hungry, waiting for a diet veg soup to cook, this sounds a lot better. We always get salt and pepper tofu to share, DH has crispy chili beef and I get another tofu dish like Ma Po tofu or a veg and cashew nuts dish. The kids like the sharing platters with ribs, spring rolls, crispy chicken, and noodles.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/06/2020 17:50

I'm boring with my order because I prefer indian to Chinese.
Chicken fried rice, curry sauce and chips

Chemenger · 22/06/2020 17:53

Kung Po Chicken
Hot and Sour soup (but our normal Chinese restaurant has gradually gone for hotter and less sour so now it is more or less tofu and shrimp in chilli oil).
Beef in black bean sauce.

Dollywilde · 22/06/2020 17:57

Our local does a lovely little starter box with some steamed dim sum, seaweed, prawn toast and breaded prawns which we always get. Then usually Singapore noodles and sweet and sour chicken. DH usually adds chicken wings or bbq ribs.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 22/06/2020 18:01

Crispy chicken in peking sauce
Sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style
Kung po crispy chicken

LetsJustGetOnWithIt · 22/06/2020 18:04

I've not had a Chinese since the start of lockdown because my favourite one has been closed. Now I'm craving some chicken fried rice with bbq sauce and chips. Disgraceful I know, Took me a while to get over the cravings (probably for the MSG). Now I want it, I'm clearly an addict.

BeyondMyWits · 22/06/2020 18:08

Sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style
