Medical question: DH's skin is cold (even goose bumpy) but he's really sweating ...

  • Last sat he started with D&V. Imodium didn't touch it.
  • He rang GP on Tuesday and they said let it run it's course but prescribed an over the counter tablet to treat the cramping and wind.
  • On Thursday the D&V stopped and Friday he began to eat again.
  • Yesterday he was eating small portions.
  • Today he is still eating small portions (appatite very low) - But he has this cold goose-bumpy skin, pale face and loads of sweating going on! Confused

I've googled but all i can get is references to sepsis and heart attacks. He's otherwise physically fit (builder) He's meant to be going back to work tomorrow but i'm a bit concerned tbh.

Can anyone shed any light? TIA

He needs to be seen by a doctor immediately.

foamrolling · 21/06/2020 16:58

What's his temp? How is he in himself? I think you should call 111 at the least.

QuestionableMouse · 21/06/2020 16:58

You need proper medical advice.

I'd ring 111 and try them then consider heading to A&E.

Agree, needs A&E.

bluefoxmug · 21/06/2020 16:58

even physically fit people can get heart attacks.
has he been tested for covid? some if the symptoms could be covid symptoms.

pollyhampton · 21/06/2020 16:59

I had Sepsis a couple of years ago and that is how my symptoms went. Please get him checked out ASAP, at the least phone 111. Can you take his temp?

NeedToKnow101 · 21/06/2020 17:00

Get off mumsnet and get him to a hospital.

andweallsingalong · 21/06/2020 17:00

What seeking medical advice try a sugary drink. My body use to react like that when my blood sugar was low.
(not a medical professional so obviously don't do this instead of seeking help)

Laiste · 21/06/2020 17:00

His temp is 36.5

He's walking about. Feeling tired but ok ....

Do we really have to panic????

FlowerTink · 21/06/2020 17:03

I would go to a&e with those latest symptoms.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 21/06/2020 17:05

Ring 111

No one on here is going to be able to give you a medical opinion.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/06/2020 17:05

Do we really have to panic????

Taking him to hospital is not panicking, it's being sensible. Something is clearly not right, and it could be very serious. I fail to understand why you're hesitating.

Laiste · 21/06/2020 17:07

I was wondering if it's a thing. Having had a gastric upset - then to get this cold yet sweaty.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 21/06/2020 17:08

So you've googled 'sweating with cold skin' and got 'heart attack or sepsis'.

Why wouldn't you get medical help ASAP? 111 or A&E?

tiredanddangerous · 21/06/2020 17:08

Phone 111

Smallinthesmoke · 21/06/2020 17:10

It could be coronavirus- DH sweated TONS

NeedToKnow101 · 21/06/2020 17:11

As someone else said, getting medical help is not panicking. I know someone who lost all 4 of their limbs through sepsis.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 21/06/2020 17:12

If one of the possibilities is sepsis or heart attack then better safe than sorry. The only person I’ve known who died of sepsis was in his early thirties and fit. It’s not worth the risk. He got to the hospital too late. Could be nothing, could be something serious. Best to rule it out.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 21/06/2020 17:14

Sepsis is really serious - I don't know anyone personally but had a colleague who lost her brother to sepsis (an apparently very fit 42 year old).

I've no idea Op, but if sepsis or a heart attack are a possibility then it's not worth the risk. Hope he's ok.

HappyHammy · 21/06/2020 17:15

cold, sweaty and pale is not normal. It doesn't matter what his temperature is, this could be serious and he needs to go to get it checked out now.

SteelyPanther · 21/06/2020 17:15

Phone 111 and get their advice.
If his temp is 36.5 after paracetamol, it’s more like 37.5 without.

SteelyPanther · 21/06/2020 17:19

Feeling a bit ‘off’ and poor appetite were my friends only symptoms for Covid.
Get advice.
