Over 10 years, 3 different IDs.
I think I started off as Kishtu when Junior Mole was born but long since forgot the login for that!

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 12:31

@Orangeblossom78

I agree about it hopefully being a pause

Costa Rica sounds amazing but yes maybe not right now, hopefully some time soon!

the place we go to in France where we swim in pools in the gorge is called Gorges D'Heric, it is in the south west which is a quiet area.

I literally can't think of anywhere I'd rather go than that. I love France. I love its diversity and beauty and culture and architecture. It's my favourite place for a holiday.
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 22/06/2020 12:31

I think it's around 14 year on on off for me possible less - DD1 is 15 but I came from NetMums as I found them first in pg- they went a bit odd - so I followed a couple of posters over here.

I also found someone following me in RL on NetMums in a not good way - so name change a lot here and changed e-mail addresses and did new account when they had security issues few years back.

I think it had changed a lot in that time - much less funny and less tolerant in many ways.

Bollss · 22/06/2020 12:37

I've been here about 5 years on and off. I de reg every so often Blush it's not always a pleasant place to be. I've had about 55,000 usernames since then!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 22/06/2020 12:43

Yes, I've had loads of usernames!

Nihiloxica · 22/06/2020 12:46

I had loads of usernames and have been off MN for years, just lurking of Feminism occasionally.

I rejoiced for this thread and don't venture much beyond it. I read the figures thread too.

Supermarketworker06 · 22/06/2020 12:48

Listen to the Jeremy Vine show, at the moment it's about pubs and"take away" drinking. Blimey, some people!

Orangeblossom78 · 22/06/2020 12:50

Something nice happened. DS (15) was in school today for this 2 hr session (they don't do much seems a token effort really) Anyway we gave him some money to pick up a sandwich on the way home for lunch

Of course they have changed and only take cards so he was unable to pay, and he said a man got his sandwich for him (wouldn't take the cash maybe though it had the virus on it or something!)

Anyway that was kind. I guess I need to get him a contactless card now though Hmm

Orangeblossom78 · 22/06/2020 12:51

I remember Scottishmummy and the creepy wee brackets and 'words on a page' Grin wonder what happened to her

torydeathdrug · 22/06/2020 12:54

Encouraging article from the Dementor’s bible (the guardian!) ... better treatments, better prepared NHS, ITU staff less scared because they weren’t more likely to catch it etc

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/22/why-doctors-say-uk-better-prepared-for-second-wave-coronavirus

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/06/2020 12:57

11 years on and off, arrived here when handbag.com disappeared overnight. As someone else said, not always a pleasant place and I’ve felt gaslit and bullied over the years.

Love it when a zombie thread comes up and I read a post thinking “oh I like her!” And it’s something I wrote.

I have a terrible pain and bruising under my toe. In normal times it could’ve been trodden on by a horse or damaged by treading on a sharp stone with cold, numb feet coming out of a loch, or slipping on a walk. I don’t think it’s a couch/carpet injury so was wondering if it’s covid toes so have been taking things out of the fridge to smell. I’ve gone fucking nuts.

My eldest is currently being (well, WAS being...) assessed for autism and this morning he said how happy he was now he has more time to do stuff he wants to rather than rushing all the time. I needed to hear that - that someone in this house is ticking over ok.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 22/06/2020 12:57

We finally opened bank accounts for the Dcs - as bithday money from DGP was adding up.

HSCBC set up two bank accounts current and savings. The current account can only sepnd what's in it can't go over at all - but it comes with a contactless card.

You can also get pre-paid cards which I started looking into then forgot about.

AnxiousElephant77 · 22/06/2020 13:03

I've been here since 2006, when I was pregnant with dd, on and off. MN got me through my divorce, and as long as you understand the dynamics around here, it's usually a positive place to be. My ex husband found a post relating to him about 3 years ago, and I had to change username. His wife must be on here, I think.

She's lovely though (if she's reading this) 😂

Pleasedontdothat · 22/06/2020 13:04

I’ve been here on and off since dd was tiny and she’s now 17 Shock. For the last few years I’ve mainly lurked sporadically, occasionally venturing into the dog house and tack room. I found these threads in those early discombobulating days of lockdown when I was scouring the internet for information and feeling increasingly anxious at how out of step I seemed to be with my wider family, friends, work colleagues. I collapsed into these threads with a sigh of relief and rarely look elsewhere on MN now. Thank you to all of you for helping me feel sane!

Allflightscancelled · 22/06/2020 13:04

About 13 years for me, I think. Came over from Bad Mothers Club. I've had so many names over the years.

Long running threads seem to be my thing, I've been on loads. I think I like the camaraderie and gentle humour that develops.

BarkandCheese · 22/06/2020 13:04

I’ve been here seven or eight years, post penis beaker but not one of the penis beaker newbies crowd. I used to do a lot of comping in the days before comps were all Twitter and Facebook like and share and it was the comps on here which introduced me to the site.

I need to get a contactless card for DD, the man in Waterstones was very sniffy with her for wanting to pay in cash.

Nihiloxica · 22/06/2020 13:05

Love it when a zombie thread comes up and I read a post thinking “oh I like her!” And it’s something I wrote.

Grin I know!

Or it's CogitoErgoSometimes.

That's often how I work out it's a zombie - when I see a poster I used to enjoy, get excited they're back, then realise it's old Sad

pollyhemlock · 22/06/2020 13:06

Going against the grain of most opinion on here, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that mask wearing, in some settings and for the time being, may be necessary. This article sets out the case in a non hysterical way. unherd.com/2020/06/why-heroes-should-wear-masks/?tl_inbound=1&tl_groups%5B0%5D=18743&tl_period_type=3

I don’t like wearing one myself because my glasses fog up and I can’t read. But I’d rather wear one than not go out. I’ll never get DD3 into one, but she will be exempt as she’s disabled ( autism etc). And anyway I rarely take her on public transport.

NannyPhlegm · 22/06/2020 13:08

Joined in 2007, was a very active member in those days under a different name. But the site changed around me and I started feeling like the square peg. When the security breach happened, I never bothered to rejoin until this thread came along

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 13:11

Love it when a zombie thread comes up and I read a post thinking “oh I like her!” And it’s something I wrote.

Actually one of your posts is one of my favourite ever, on one of those daft "could I be pregnant" threads. We were both TTC at the time and losing patience rapidly. You said something like why don't you piss on the computer and let the Internet tell you, or something. Mean but really bloody funny Grin

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 22/06/2020 13:12

pollyhemlock - I think I'm with the Welsh Government with masks - useful in some situations like public transport where social diatancing is hard to impossible- though problematic with longer journeys which is what they said.

I'm still going to keep an eye out for exception cards - as DS and I have asthma so if we need to take masks off they could be useful but I think we'd try wearing them first.

Not that we have any journeys planned in near future - wfh and school's are walkable.

torydeathdrug · 22/06/2020 13:15

But we’re not going to ‘kill of coronavirus” so that means mask wearing will be mandatory forever.

torydeathdrug · 22/06/2020 13:16

kill ‘off’

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 13:19

But we’re not going to ‘kill off coronavirus” so that means mask wearing will be mandatory forever.

What happened with SARS? Was mask wearing mandatory?

Spudlet · 22/06/2020 13:19

I just stacked it on my run! And when all this started, there were Facebook posts from people warning us wicked runners off the trails, lest we should stack it and require medical assistance and Use NHS Resources and I scoffed (silently, in my head) at them... Blush

Happily the NHS remains untroubled by my stackage and instead I hobbled it off and then jogged home for an ice pack, but still! I could have (not sadly) DIED Shock

Now admiring my scrapes on the sofa with an ice pack and glowering balefully at the big hole in the wall because it turns out a previous owner’s DIY habits were structurally unsound and the nice stove men have had to leave until they can get some girders to insert into the chimney. This is the third bit of bodge that we’ve uncovered, since the self-wired garage electricity supply (😱) and the toilet overflow pipe that was just cut off and thus flooded the downstairs loo when the flush got stuck (😱). Plotting to hunt that man (because let’s face it - it was a bloke) down and confiscate his toolbox. 🤨
