I hope this unimaginative thread title doesn't put off all the amazing posters from this group!

As we transition into this new phase things could get interesting....

Hope you are all doing as well as can be. I've been in a really bad place, not helped by the fact that I've been in a flare up of my condition so physically I've been pretty low for a week or so. Did have the excitement of a blood test and a GP appointment and I actually collected my prescription myself from the pharmacy on the way back today, felt very strange but quite safe, there was no one else there and the pharmacist in full PPE. I saw the queue outside the supermarket and it feels like another world to me.

I had a chat with the GP about risk vs long term mental health issues which, for me, are getting ever more pertinent. He has encouraged me to get outside more when I am feeling better and start building myself up. I wore a mask today which did make me feel better so I think I will order a box of them.

Sorry all, just musing really. I hate this.

Hi all, kirstenm I’m sorry you’ve had a rubbish few weeks. What we all need is some hard facts. I know it’ll make me feel so much better.
Today I have done more than I’ve done in the last week. Don’t know if my little walk last night has maybe reinvigorated me but I certainly felt I had more of a reason to ‘be’ today, if that makes sense.
Work were in touch today because they are sorting classes for September and want to know if I’ll be back by then. Other than a shrug of the shoulders there isn’t much I can say. Told them I hoped to be, wanted to add ‘I’m being guided by the science’ but thought that was a bit cheeky.
Well, I’ve got the telly on and I’m ready...

OrganTransplant123 · 22/06/2020 17:01

Evan Davies on radio 4 just said that the shielding system is changing. Can’t see anything online though.

ceecee32 · 22/06/2020 17:03

Going to discuss new rules for shielding on BBC now

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:06

It’s live now

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:07

Can meet six others from outside home in England from July 6th.

That’s outdoors the meeting up.

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:09

Shielding ending 31st July.

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:11

“Paused”

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 22/06/2020 17:16

This confuses my situation with DDs dad! We can create a support bubble with him but he isn't careful. I now don't know what to do!

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:18

No the bubble is only if you leave alone or a single parent.

IrisJoy · 22/06/2020 17:21

Oh God. I am shielding and while I am really grateful they have thought this through. I work in a school and this means I will be expected to go back in sept.i don't feel that it will be that safe. The briefing said to go back if it's 'covid safe' workplace. Wwyd?

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 22/06/2020 17:22

@ToothFairyNemesis

No the bubble is only if you leave alone or a single parent.
He lives alone. But really isn't careful. On the old thread I explained he doesn't believe covid even exists. So hand washing etc is just not being done. He should be shielding and so is my current partner. We have not allowed access so far as he goes dialysis and he refuses to wear a mask.
ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:24

Yes but I thought you didn’t have I misunderstood?

WwMILd · 22/06/2020 17:25

Summary on gov.uk

FuzzyPuffling · 22/06/2020 17:26

Although I am rather scared about going into shops, for example (not done that since the beginning of March) I do want to get back to more-normal-than-this.

I shall be glad to be able to meet people outside (that'll make it rain!) and I'm extremely pleased the supermarkets are keeping their priority lists open. Good call.

ToothFairyNemesis · 22/06/2020 17:26

It’s the shielding family that needs to live alone ie with no other adult.

rugbymummy · 22/06/2020 17:26

Wow. I need a bit of time to digest I think. But yes, back in the classroom in September. Will that be at 2m or 1m?
Jennie Harries just said they could have said ‘jump back into work tomorrow’ based on the science?? WTF?? People may be fearful but they need to push themselves a bit??? What’s she on??

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 22/06/2020 17:27

@ToothFairyNemesis

Yes but I thought you didn’t have I misunderstood?
Oooh I don't know. I live with my partner and children. DDs dad lives alone. So I thought she could go and stop at his now. Honestly, and I never thought i would ever say this I don't want her to go to his right now.
kirstinm · 22/06/2020 17:29

@FuzzyPuffling I'm the same. I can't go on like this for much longer.

The fearful but need to push myself was kind of what my GP was getting at today I think.

finished31 · 22/06/2020 17:30

Bit of a contradiction with
' Back to work if COVID free', how can they guarantee that unless you work solo.

Pebble21uk · 22/06/2020 17:31

I'm the same IrisJoy. One good thing is it gives us the whole month of August to see how things progress. It may be that by September things have either got better or worse! I can't see things just staying the same with all the changes.

My partner (in the vulnerable catagory - also a teacher) and I have been trying to make savings where possibe, so that in an extreme scenario we would be able to take a term (Sep - Christmas hols) off as unpaid leave.

Jenny Harris also just saying now on the briefing that shielding children SHOULD go back in September - but that of course is with the caveat that children get a more mild case and their education will suffer more than the risk of Covid (not quite the same for us!)

Egghead68 · 22/06/2020 17:31

Missed it all as on the phone to my b* GP practice. Will try to catch up now.

WinstonWolf · 22/06/2020 17:35

I would feel so much better about this if it weren't coinciding with the likely drop of the 2m rule, and the re-opening of everything.
