I hope this unimaginative thread title doesn't put off all the amazing posters from this group!

As we transition into this new phase things could get interesting....

Happy Birthday @Redcherries! 🎈 Hope you have a lovely day. Your meal sound delicious.
@MarieVonGoethem hope you are ok. We miss you and your biscuit reporting.
GP just rang me. I am apparently doing everything right. Walks are in. Yes to having my eldest round to sit in the garden this weekend (hooray!) but no coming in the house, minimise the amount of people I do this with, and don’t be sharing cups/food etc. No to going into buildings of any kind. As for school in September, he said that as there’s no guidance yet as to how this looks for us and as September is still 2 months away we need to review the situation nearer the time. I have a Resp Clinic appointment at the start of August so he says that’s a great place and time to reassess. Feel happier and more informed now.
Today I have a couple of lessons to record - need to wash my hair first : ) and planning dinner and a gin in the garden tonight followed by another walk. They do really perk me up. It’s so hot already out there!

Happy birthday @Redcherries 🎉🎉🍰🍰 Hope you have a lovely day despite not going off on holiday, enjoy those bubbles in the sunshine!🍾

I have a friend bringing a picnic round for lunch in the garden, can't wait - so lovely to be doing 'normal' things again :)

plus3 · 24/06/2020 10:02

Happy Birthday @Redcherries 🎂🎉🍾 sounds like you have a lovely day ahead of you

plus3 · 24/06/2020 10:05

With the regards to the letter - if we have received it does it mean we are still on the extremely vulnerable list & have been reassessed??
I was really hoping to be down graded to just moderately at risk

Redcherries · 24/06/2020 10:34

Thank you everyone xx

@Plus3 I’ve taken it as that, it might be worth asking for a phone consultation with you gp to see how things are looking? Fingers cryfor you x

finished31 · 24/06/2020 10:50

Big Happy Birthday @Redcherries

My letter arrived today. It states the I have to strict social distance and stay at home as much as possible. But,
You can go to work.

Happy birthday @Redcherries !!!

I’ve been for a blood test so that was a pretty exciting start to the day. Amongst a lot of other things, they’re testing me for covid antibodies. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful surprise to have had it and just not know anything about it?!

I got the update letter this morning. The fact that it is signed as ‘Matt’ really irritated me. I’m not sure what I make of it all. I’ve got two consultant appointments before the end of July- one transplant, one kidneys so I’ll see what they think about pausing shielding.

finished31 · 24/06/2020 11:16

Where did you have your transplant @OrganTransplant123?

I have an appointment end of July unless they cancel again.

rugbymummy · 24/06/2020 11:33

My letter arrived too! And yes, go out, but stay in 😂
OrganTransplant123 - I laughed sarcastically at the ‘Matt’ signature too. Like he’s an old friend 🤨

Teaistheanswer · 24/06/2020 11:39

Happy Birthday @RedcherriesCake

No letter here yet but a fellow shielder at school has already been asked to contact her GP to see what category she is in and if she can come back in July!!! Her GP said no, not till 1st August as she is shielding! So nervous I'll get the call from the head next so I've already rung my GP but no call back yet.
Come on Matt...sign my letter quick!

ToothFairyNemesis · 24/06/2020 12:39

It’s “call me Dave” again - we are not all in it together Matt!

Is2020OverYet · 24/06/2020 12:39

Glad that we are still cautious in Wales in comparison to England tbh. I'm already finding myself going out less as things get busier.

Not sure whether this has been linked to before, but scientists are working on a better risk prediction model than the one size fits all approach we have had. Am hoping that something like this would work in my favour - although I'm severely asthmatic I'm white, female, not very overweight and youngish, so perhaps not as at risk as some people. Here's the link: www.ox.ac.uk/news/2020-06-22-oxford-leads-development-risk-prediction-model-more-tailored-covid-19-shielding

brainstories568 · 24/06/2020 13:32

So glad I wasn't the only one who was irked at the Matt signature! Grin maybe it's because he had so many letters to get into the post overnight that he had to use shorthand....

Goldistheanswer · 24/06/2020 13:58

I’ve just read that the Chief Scientific Adviser, Patrick Vallance, told a Select Cttee on 5th May that the infection risk was up to 30 times higher at 1 meter than 2 meters! Plus the UK is apparently ranked 191st out of 195 nations in terms of readiness for easing lockdown.
There’s absolutely none of what the govt has done that reassures me after reading these facts. I’m really scared for my shielded DCs and for me who is also shielding.

FourTeaFallOut · 24/06/2020 14:09

Yeah, I got my letter today too. What a mess of impossible nonsense. If you can now resume contact with people in your home and the people in your home can go about as they like, then surely the only difference in your exposure to covid is about five days? I'm ready to throw the towel in today in any case. Prevalence in my area had dropped to 0.3, that's good enough for me.

Egghead68 · 24/06/2020 14:15

Got the call-me-Matt and call-me-corrupt-Robert letter too.

RhubarbJelly · 24/06/2020 14:35

Letter here also.
@FourTeaFallOut how did you discover the 0.3 figure? Would be useful to know that where I am.

FourTeaFallOut · 24/06/2020 14:38

I just have the Zoe app that I've been contributing to for weeks now.

FourTeaFallOut · 24/06/2020 14:38

Months even, but what's the difference? Grin

RhubarbJelly · 24/06/2020 14:40

Oh thanks - I was not sure if I would be able to do that after 12 weeks of not leaving my garden!
Might download it, especially now I have had the Matt letter.

Egghead68 · 24/06/2020 15:20

What does prevalence 0.3 mean please? 3 people in 100? Sounds quite high. (National average is 1 in 1700 according to government.)

FourTeaFallOut · 24/06/2020 15:21

That's 3 people in 1000.

Egghead68 · 24/06/2020 15:21

@Goldistheanswer where did you read this please?

FourTeaFallOut · 24/06/2020 15:28

Yeah, that 1 in 1700 sounds great, doesn't it? I'm not sure who's watering it down but I wish I lived there.
