Scentsy

Just wondering what people's experiences of Scentsy have been? Any good? A friend has just become a rep, I would like to order but have never had anything before. If you have their products would you recommend?

It’s MLM. Don’t get involved.

Lightofthephoenix · 18/06/2020 11:35

Smell the scents before buying them and make sure you buy a warmer that fits the decor for which ever room you want it.

I have a plain cream burner I use in my bedroom, a more colourful one for DC bedroom and a plug in warmer for downstairs hallway.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 18/06/2020 11:36

Its also extremely expensive...avoid.

SierraHotel · 18/06/2020 11:39

Thank you for the replies.
MLM- sorry, what does this mean?

Multi Level Marketing; it’s a massive scam.

People like your friend who join these schemes end up losing loads of money (and friends, because in the process they harass everyone to join them/buy their products to try and stop themselves losing money).

TeaStory · 18/06/2020 11:43

An MLM is “Multi Level Marketing”. A pyramid scheme, in essence, that just skirts round the law. 99%+ of “reps” lose money on them. By buying from your friend you’d be enabling her financial destruction, not helping her.

JasperRising · 18/06/2020 11:43

MLM means multilevel marketing. It means the products are likely to be overpriced and poorer quality than you can find elsewhere, and your friend is likely to be under pressure to recruit friends and family to be reps (as well as push you to buy products). Highly likely they will lose money - something like 98% of all MLM reps lose money or break even at best. General advice is not to buy from MLMs as it gives impression the business might work so takes reps longer to give up, losing more money along the way.

If you want wax melts, there are genuine independent sellers who make them themselves.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/06/2020 11:43

It's something like £60 for a cheap looking burner and then the melts on top. If you buy once the rep will keep hassling to buy more and join her team. Avoid.

Letshavesometea · 18/06/2020 11:45

I agree- avoid and your friend will hopefully soon realise its a waste of time.

Norma27 · 18/06/2020 11:56

Nasty MLM. Avoid avoid avoid.

heartsonacake · 18/06/2020 11:57

Since you didn’t know what an MLM was, you also want to avoid any of your friends or people you know selling Forever Living, Ann Summers products, Avon, Younique, FM World etc.

There’s millions of them. Basically if someone you know is trying to sell you something, don’t engage. They’ve been sucked in. They’re drowning and they’re trying to save themselves by drowning you.

youngestisapsycho · 18/06/2020 11:58

My cousin has just started selling these... she made a FB page. The price of them!! Surely no one actually buys them?!

mencken · 18/06/2020 11:58

smelly candles are sold in poundland for much less. They are a shop that pay wages, business rates etc etc.

never ever buy from anyone selling female-targeted products via facebook etc. It is ALWAYS a pyramid scheme with the tweaks to make it legal.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 18/06/2020 11:59

Agree with the others that it is MLM, however I have bought several of the warmers and wax and really liked them. Although yes they are quite expensive, but do last much longer than candles which I also use a lot of. They often have sales, so you can get some bargains that way.

heartsonacake · 18/06/2020 12:01

Unfortunately yes, people do buy them. It just means they’re enabling their friends to continue to lose money.
namechangenumber2 · 18/06/2020 12:20

I recently tried some of the washer whiffs - chuck them in the drum before the washing. They smell ok but not worth the price so I won't be getting them again. I bought them to help out a friend or a friend who's just started up, but having read up about Scentsy and other MLM I won't be ordering anything again

heartsonacake · 18/06/2020 12:22

namechangenumber2 Yeah, that’s the problem. People think they’re helping their friends by buying their products but they’re just sinking them even further in.

Mandalorian · 18/06/2020 12:29

Scentsy pains me because I desperately want a few of their star wars bits but they are bloody expensive and it bothers me supporting an MLM.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 18/06/2020 12:40

Can i add JuicePlus....Valentus...BodyShop at Home...and Partylite to the list of mlm's posted above....avoid like the plague !!!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 18/06/2020 12:46

Oh and lets not forget Herbalife !!!

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/06/2020 12:58

One of DH's relatives is selling Scentsy all over Facebook. Are people really paying £60 for a plug in oil diffuser/wax melt?! It's obscene. And all the Disney tat is just such weird marketing. MIL wanted to buy 4yo DS a Buzz Lightyear one until I explained it's something to burn wax in.

I've had to mute the woman (who is constantly flitting from one MLM to the next) because I'm fed up of seeing raffle posts and "orders on their way huns".

gutentag1 · 18/06/2020 13:02

My cousin (who has learning difficulties) has been recruited by this company and spends all her money on buying more products to show in her video demonstrations, in the hope of getting sales. She has been told that the more she buys, the more she'll sell and she is constantly hassling the family to purchase from her too, it's really sad. Please don't support them.

SierraHotel · 18/06/2020 13:57

Thank you everyone for your replies!
I had honestly never heard of MLMs, I've heard of all the ones you've mentioned but didn't know what they were, so this has been a real eye opener. I'll not bother ordering!
Thanks again.

And Darcy's Candles

MandalaYogaTapestry · 18/06/2020 19:49

It is not just a wax warmer, most models also work as a night light. They are hand-painted and have a life-time warranty. I am not a rep but I do own one Scentsy wax warmer and use it every evening. Especially if I have some work to do at my laptop, it creates a lovely ambience.

I did not buy any waxes off the rep though, just got lots of samples cheaply from ebay for variety and use them.
