Do you have hobbies? If so, can I ask what?

Lockdown has been a real eye opener for me. I see all these busy bees cracking on with their hobbies - all lockdown did for me was show me that actually I have a very boring life 😳

I had friends who were baking, making blinds, arranging photographs, and gardening.

Apart from reading and my dogs, I don't have anything else. I'm not sure what I would actually do with myself in retirement or with no job.

So, if you have any hobbies, can I ask what they are. Looking for inspiration 😇

I play classical piano and cross stitch. Can't bake for toffee!!

OccasionalNachos · 17/06/2020 19:52

Running, gym/weights, knitting, playing video games, playing chess, baking, photography. I had a baby in February though so I’ve had to pick one of these to stick with and I’ll get back to the rest in 2025 or thereabouts...

Tronkmanton · 17/06/2020 19:54

Horse riding (mainly eventing when possible!)
Tennis
Working out/gym
Reading
Dog walking
Cycling

OccasionalNachos · 17/06/2020 19:55

Oh, and cycling. Might be the one I stick with as it seems like a waste of money if I give it up

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 17/06/2020 20:04

Crochet, cross stitch, sewing, house-plant gardening, reading. I've rarely got bored.
I cant bake though, or cook anything really.

caringcarer · 17/06/2020 20:06

I like to read, walk dogs around lake, about 2k, I bake cakes and cookies and I also enjoy cooking. I have 6 b2l and do often spend time doing up one or other of the houses. I am putting in 2 new kitchens over lockdown one of which had been stored in conservatory so nice to get my home gym area back again as situated in conservatory. I have also painted the 2 empty houses through out and 1 house had 11 new interior doors and handles. I have declutterd at home. During lockdown I taught myself to crochet by using you tube clips. I am making a baby blanket.

In normal times I like eating out 2 or 3 times a week. I also like watching child play cricket matches and having picnics whilst watching. The games often go on for 4 hours or more do relaxing in sunshine with glass of wine or two.

SinglePringle · 17/06/2020 20:10

Cycling, gardening and various forms of exercise such as yoga, boxing, pilates and HIIT.

Keep me sane.

KoalasandRabbit · 17/06/2020 20:13

At the moment it's planning travel / reading about destination / watching travel films about Borneo / National Parks / China etc, doing work on two houses, been just invited to join a online book club, sometimes do Duolingo, do fair bit of learning now teaching DS from home - he has ASD and often goes off at a tangent so we research lots of economics, wildlife, science, history. Dh does baking and piano. I do love swimming but not possible at the moment. Used to enjoy gardening but lost interest.

Bbq1 · 17/06/2020 20:15

Reading, writing (trying to write a book) running, colouring, being in the garden, bird watching, photography.

KoalasandRabbit · 17/06/2020 20:16

Oh and we have a cat, an indoor rabbit and 3 silkie chickens, don't class them as hobbies obviously, but spend time with them.

Cherrysoup · 17/06/2020 20:19

Blimey, I’m in admiration of all of you lot! I have a horse, although he’s retired I still spend a lot of time with him. I’ve been slowly doing the garden up too.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 17/06/2020 20:22

Church bellringing. But not at the moment while the churches are closed 🙄

Guttersnipe · 17/06/2020 20:23

Professional hobbyist here. Smile

Knitting, crochet, genealogy, writing, cooking (I don't mean meals, though I do cook meals too obviously, I mean more things like bread making, jam making, chutney, curds, etc), walking, cycling, cross stitch, rug making, tapestries, photography, fruit and vegetable cultivation. I always have multiple things on the go. The hardest part is deciding which to do.

irisnotadaff · 17/06/2020 20:25

Sewing, painting, gardening, allotment, reading, cycling occasionally, walking a lot, a lot of baking recently though am crap at it, animal crossing!
Wish I was into one thing properly tho.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/06/2020 20:30

Crochet and buying yarn mostly. Used to run until my knees gave out on me a few years ago. Now I'm overweight and eat too much crap😳

Like walking and listening to audiobooks too but not sure that comes under the definition of hobby.

CorianderLord · 17/06/2020 20:32

Reading, embroidery, yoga. That's about it

EatsShootsAndRuns · 17/06/2020 20:35

Buying fabric, wool and craft stuff ”to use" in reality I'm accumulating fabric and wool.
I also fuse glass in my own kiln, read, sing (belong to a choir and some of us have been zoom meeting every week) and watch YouTube videos of crafts I could be doing with my fabric and wool.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/06/2020 20:35

Sewing. I've used lockdown to open an Etsy shop.

Do you have hobbies? If so, can I ask what?
Allyg1185 · 17/06/2020 20:38

Crocheting, cross stitch and my favourite reading. I've read 15 books in the last 12 weeks. Also have enjoyed gardening and going for walks

SoManyRabbits · 17/06/2020 20:47

I have various hobbies that I've picked up and put down over the years.

I play bass guitar in a couple of bands. I practise with each weekly and, between the two, gig most weekends.

That's my main hobby.

CorianderLord · 17/06/2020 20:47

Oh! And cooking. I kind of forget it's a hobby because it's just the main part of my free time 😂 I love it

JoyceByersWasRight · 17/06/2020 21:00

I knit and crochet, and learning to use a sewing machine (I am a bit rubbish but I enjoy it and don't inflict my FOs on anyone else!).

I bake occasionally and read if I'm in the mood. I've mostly lost interest in the telly these days.

midnightstar66 · 17/06/2020 21:04

Running about after dc - now facilitating zoom clubs and home brownie badges is read of just dripping them there
, which was easier. Also now acquired 2 ponies so that's pretty much a full time job. Basically their hobbies are mine!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/06/2020 21:04

Languages - I aim to get at basic knowledge (A2) of as many languages as I possibly can.
Reading, Future Learn, cacti

packetandtripe · 17/06/2020 23:14

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

They are beautiful, so intricate.
