Just that, I am looking to send a really lovely bunch of flowers to a very lovely DD, my budget is around £60.00. Happy to use a national service or one based in Surrey.

The best value is to phone a local florist. For ease I generally use M&S

brakethree · 13/06/2020 10:40

Use a local, independent florist. Don't use M&S they are terrible, I recently received a basket of flowers that weren't even planted properly, they refused to post my review (surprise surprise). I've previously also had damaged flowers from them. Their quality is very variable and I don't think the delivery drivers take enough care. It really takes away from the moment when you receive flowers are they are damaged, not good regardless if you get a replacement or not.

wowfudge · 13/06/2020 10:44

M&S's delivery partner damaged a planted basket I sent a friend and the replacement one too.

Many local florists are not open at the moment. But if you find one near to the recipient check their website shows the kind of thing you would like to send and your friend likes and ring them to find out of they are working. Failing that, I've found Waitrose to be reliable and they have a good selection with seasonal options.

I got marks pink fair trade roses recently. Way nicer than the bloom and wild I got later.

EveryDayIsLikeMonday · 13/06/2020 10:46

Another vote against M&S as they use Yodel to deliver. Needless to say, the special occasion flowers I ordered never arrived Angry

Gordonsgrin · 13/06/2020 10:47

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone have a recommendation for Weybridge? There are some fab online companies but I prefer to support local businesses, especially at this time.

I have recently received some flowers from eflorist and I am pleasantly surprised by them, almost 2 weeks in and they are still going strong. I would say they are the best postal flowers I’ve seen. I obviously don’t know how much they cost.
I also have some from a local florist, not all florists are open but a few are and the flowers are absolutely beautiful.

Whatthefunk · 13/06/2020 11:06

Bloom and wild are amazing! They look a little bedraggled when they first arrive , but after a little while they are beautiful

TomNook · 14/06/2020 14:33

I got q 3 month thing. Bloom and wild Carnations included. It’s a bit meh

Claricethecat45 · 14/06/2020 14:36

Appleyard

I liked these - good delivery time and good quality

Querencia · 14/06/2020 14:40

NEXT flowers are great and a good range of prices too.
I used the post box flowers recently and my friend said they were good quality and lasted ages

JustOneLastThing · 14/06/2020 14:47

I use bloom and wild (they do nhs discount and intro offers quite often so worth googling)

LadyOfTheCanyon · 14/06/2020 17:47

Hi OP

I'm a florist - The White Orchid in Weybridge are very good and if you can hang on, they will probably be open Tuesday 16th as the first fresh delivery from Holland will arrive then. Florists haven't been able to open until tomorrow, ( unless in an open market this past couple of weeks) but most I know are holding out for Tuesday.

It really does make a difference using a local firm - not least because you can call and discuss exactly what they have that they would recommend- M&S, Next etc all have their items made up in warehouses by people with very little idea of what they're doing - plus often the stock has been sitting about for days.

I hear mixed results about Bloom and Wild and Freddie's Flowers - but whichever way you look at it those flowers have been out of water for at least 2 days before they arrive at your house ( longer if you've been out all day when the post comes.)
Being out of water is really stressful for most Flowers - the cells in the stem start to die and then lose the ability to take up water again efficiently- which is often why they seem to die very quickly.

Stepoffthecarousel · 14/06/2020 18:21

I've had 5 bunches of Bloom and Wild flowers. All have been shit. Bouquets not big enough or colourful enough and they look droopy and dead. They don't perk up in my experience of them. I've had a couple of bunches of M&S flowers and they were pretty nice.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/06/2020 18:23

I always use Flying Flowers. Never had a problem.

lymphopenia · 14/06/2020 18:26

Bloom and wild have been used a lot in our house recently and they've never let us down! Huge nhs discount too Wink

yellowbluebell · 14/06/2020 18:37

Bloom & Wild

Gordonsgrin · 14/06/2020 20:56

@LadyOfTheCanyon, thank you so much. I have seen their website and liked their flowers. It is good to get a personal recommendation. I don’t need the bouquet until mid July so no prob there. I really want to send a special bunch to my DD, she’s an amazing young woman.

I've just ordered some from eflorist for MiL's birthday, on the recommendation of a friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the price, so we'll see how they are.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 14/06/2020 21:59

I’ve seen some good flowers from Bloom and Wild.

I had some from Waitrose a few weeks ago. They arrived promptly, were well packaged, nicely arranged and the gerbera lasted two weeks.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 14/06/2020 22:50

@Gordonsgrin

No problem! Working in central London you get to know businesses in the Home Counties and major cities because this question gets asked a lot!

Small businesses are obviously really suffering at the moment, so when shops reopen, supporting them will make such a difference. Thank you.

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/06/2020 23:01

I love Bloom & Wild too. I've got a bunch at the moment, which arrived 2 weeks ago on Tues and are still looking lovely. I reckon they've got at least a week more in them. My experience of B&W is always that they last ages. Yes - they look a bit sad on the first day, but they never take long to come back to life. It's nice watching them come into their own too.

catinb0oots · 14/06/2020 23:05

Does it have to be a bouquet and not letterbox flowers?

Freddie's flowers are amazing

duddle · 14/06/2020 23:06

Also a vote for Freddie's Flowers - always send these as gifts now and great value.

Gordonsgrin · 14/06/2020 23:33

@catinb0oots yep I would like a bouquet, she has had a few Bloom and Wild letterboxes from her bf, they are fab and I love them. I would just like to make a change and support local this time.
