I'm desperately searching for a nice pure pale gray for my hallway and landing, no blue/purple tones which the testers seem to have. I need to get it by Thursday so any help/photos would be much appreciated. Price range around dulux rather than f&b.

@mrsmime your hallway is lovely, the colour looks fab in yours but mine is a lot smaller, do you think it would look ok in mine? (we have just moved in so the place is not done whatsoever) honestly didn't know how stressful it could be chosing the right paint!

@dreamingofholiday I think it would work. I think it's a lovely shade of grey - I love it so much I also have it in my bedroom. On the Dulux app you could try the visualiser to get a sense of how it might look - it's not perfect but I've used it in a few rooms to narrow down my tester pot selection.

If you're wanting really pale, take a look at this test patch I've had in my dark hallway for about 2 years Grin It's Dulux porcelain doll

Just dark enough to see a contrast with white woodwork, but still very light so it's not going to darken the hall, no blue tones (though looks cooler in this pic, in comparison to my very yellow wood!)

Choosing paint is the worst though, it never looks like it does on the testers, or other people's photos!

@Irishprincess ammonite is a F&B colour, Johnston’s will mix any F&B colour for you.

Itsmemaggie · 09/06/2020 14:07

Just to add I have it in my hall and it’s a lovely light grey.

keepingbees · 09/06/2020 14:08

Goosedown can have blue tones in certain lights. I have Chic Shadow in my bathroom and it looks darker than the above posters hallway photo (where it looks lovely!)
I've also had Cosy Grey in my living room and whilst it was a true grey, again it was quite dark.
I've got Dulux White Mist in my hallway which is a grey toned off white. I needed something that bounced light around as my hall and stairs are narrow without much light.
Also look at Dulux Polished Pebble for a light grey, or Pebble Shore for a beige/grey.

Ammonite is a F&B colour - Johnstone’s have a licence agreement. We have French Grey (little greene) which would be excellent for a hallway. Their intelligent Matt paint is really good. French Grey pale would be my choice for a hallway

Ammonite by Farrow and Ball. No contest!

Eachpeachtree · 09/06/2020 14:29

Dulux heritage range is gorgeous, they have a white which is actually grey, called ‘lead white’. It’s very pure grey and a beautiful light colour. You get them mixed at dulux decorator centres.

NooneElseIsSingingMySong · 09/06/2020 14:42

This is polished pebble by Dulux. It’s a satin finish but they do a matt as well.

Farrow and Ball Ammonite is lovely.

I’d say goose down is blue ish in some light.

Imtoooldforallthis · 09/06/2020 16:13

Dulux night jewels 6 or dulux grey steel 5 or 6, both true greys

DdJames · 09/06/2020 16:22

This is polished pebble. It can rarely have a bluish tone to it in some lights.

Slate II from Paint Library. It's a very light room, I could have gone darker with hindsight.

I've picked up samples of goosedown, ammonite (b&q mix), morning song and Venice grey, I have a chic shadow sample somewhere already. I'm running out of places to put them! Thanks to the poster who linked the Facebook group, it's been really helpful for photos

Hope you find what you’re looking for OP! If you were tempted to try it in future, I would avoid Polished Pebble. Loads of people recommended it to us and we used it on our hall, stairs and landing.

I literally looks like a pale, icy blue, not welcoming at all. Our hall is north facing which definitely doesn’t help, but I’d steer clear of Polished Pebble if you don’t want blue!

geojojo · 09/06/2020 17:26

I can't take a good photo as still renovating but we have f&b ammonite in the living room. We have cornforth white elsewhere which is lovely but a bit darker. You can get them colour matched.

geojojo · 09/06/2020 17:28

notwiththeseknees your house looks so lovely

dreamingofholiday · 09/06/2020 17:33

This is the valspar mix of ammonite and although I need to wait til it dries I think this may be the one. Anyone who has the real ammonite does this look the same? I've tried it next to polished pebble on another wall and the blue is even more noticeable
