I'll start:
The food at IKEA. Especially the over hyped meatballs!
Cheap crap!

SpillTheTeaa · 04/06/2020 01:04

Cheese.

omtotheg · 04/06/2020 01:11

Anything made by dyson.. I just don't get it

LadyJaye · 04/06/2020 03:51

Bali's a shithole. Much nicer places to go in Indonesia.

Music festivals. Went to one once, hated it, didn't do it again.

Guinness.

People.

Interestingly, people saying they hate London/Paris/Venice - I've lived in all three cities and, contrary to popular opinion, they're not tourist cities: you have to spend quite a lot of time there to learn to love them.

loopykay · 04/06/2020 04:05

The Cotswolds

Sertchgi123 · 04/06/2020 04:08

Candoolili · 04/06/2020 07:28

Yes to everyone who said Bali
Yes to Harry Potter (so derivative) and Killing Eve.
Yes to yoga- it’s just stretching. Also gratitude meditations and similar fluff
Also-
Nutella
Netflix
Venice
U2
So many Man Booker winners

Emmapeeler1 · 04/06/2020 08:28

In defence of a few of these...

he just seems grim faced and arsey throughout.

It's a while since I read P&P but isn't that what Mr Darcy is supposed to be like?

Re. Harry Potter. It's not really my cup of tea but every 9 year old I know loves it more than anything they have ever read. They don't really care if something is derivative.

Also, I have personally never looked back since getting my Dyson handheld Hoover!

Candoolili · 04/06/2020 08:51

Oh yea, there’s a generational element to it for sure, I’d have loved the Harry Potter books as a kid. It’s the mania some adults I know have that I don’t get, but they’re more likely to have read the books in childhood I guess. I was just too old.

Rache49 · 04/06/2020 09:02

Picklypickles. My Cat would have one of those little dogs for lunch!!

Emmapeeler1 · 04/06/2020 09:05

Ah I see. Yes, I was too old for the mania too, so agree with that part. I see adults reading it on their lunch break at work and feel a strong urge to lend them an Anne Tyler novel!

Rache49 · 04/06/2020 09:07

Ohwhatfuckeryisthisnow. I am with you on the Marzipan thing . I have Christmas cake without the icing and Marzipan and don't even start me on Battenburg cake!!

Emmapeeler1 · 04/06/2020 09:14

Marzipan is yuck! Accidentally ate Battenberg cake as a student and immediately retched.

Equimum · 04/06/2020 09:37

Centre Parcs - we were really disappointed. We paid a fortune to go, then everything we did also cost a fortune. Everywhere was busy, and we could have visited most of the restaurants on offer on any high street. The pool was nice, but I just didn’t get the hype.

awaynboilyurheid · 04/06/2020 09:38

Kylie Minogue
Madonna Both have Talentless screechy voices all hype and no discernible talent whatsoever.
Lady gaga same category , that follow up to a star is born was awful ! She is no Barbara Streisand that’s for sure!
Tattoos Never seen one I liked and no your not being wild and racy getting one, they just look a mess!
Drinking culture why is so great to get drunk? . Why can’t we be like the Europeans and make one drink last and enjoy it ?

Why go to beautiful countries on holiday then just sit and drink ffs you get one life go see the world ( once CV is over)

Horehound · 04/06/2020 09:53

@WitchWife ah you mean a caprese salad. I fucking love them! But it's best sitting outside an Italian restaurant in Italy :)

Cam77 · 04/06/2020 10:23

@SurreyHillsGirl
The Sopranos. It picks up speed a lot from the 2nd season if I remember, first season is probably introducing the cast to an extent . I’d rank in my top 5 ever and I’ve watched a good 100+ series. At minimum it is very good.

ScotchBonnits · 04/06/2020 10:31

@Horehound I love caprese salads too, but it's all about the quality. Has to be the best mozzarella and juicy, flavorsome on-the-vine tomatoes. If you used cheap mozzarella and economy tomatoes, it'd be rubbish. Definitely best at a restaurant in Italy like, you say. Oh my, this conversation is making me hungry now!

Cam77 · 04/06/2020 10:41

Singers.
I love a great singer and some are simultanously great musicians. But it posses me off when some kid on YouTube has people falling over themselves like they were bloody Mozart “wow SO Talented! just because they were born with a nice sounding voice and have practiced carrying a few tunes.

School.
It has its uses but the subject subject subject approach is horribly outdated. They are exam factories meant to produce compliant workers, not clued up and inspired citizens. We’d be much better off spending more time informing kids about society, citizenship, the media, and advertising to name a few. Teaching children how to learn and why thinking, questioning and analyzing is important. Learning about democracy and our rssposbilites as citizens.Teaching how to daily tasks - cook pasta, fix household devices, etc Yes I know this is done a tiny bit but it should be the focus - not just a bit on the side.
Reading and writing is essential - most of the other stuff could be largely dumped for most students to little ill effect for the mass of individuals.

Horehound · 04/06/2020 10:41

Yes, deffo agree with that @scotchbonnits!

Most (not all) Restaurants in Britain. There’s a good reason Nandos is so popular....

WitchWife · 04/06/2020 11:04

@Emmapeeler1 “ It's a while since I read P&P but isn't that what Mr Darcy is supposed to be like?”

I think he’s supposed to be misanthropic but quite funny, kind of like ...Jack Dee? He is witty, that’s why he and Lizzy work as a couple because they’re both incisive about how people behave.

WitchWife · 04/06/2020 11:05

Sorry @Horehound! You’re probably right that it can be nice but the Tesco value version definitely isn’t. 🇮🇹
