This is horrible! I'm so hot!!! Got horrendous hayfever too. It cools down by Wed, thank God.

AvocadoPrime · 31/05/2020 20:01

I really dont like the heat either. Much prefer being cold to hot!

Bluewavescrashing · 31/05/2020 20:14

Hayfever attack has left my face swollen and sore, red eyes and very sore itchy throat. Even my ears itch.

I've been prescribed Fexafenadine by my GP so will pick that up tomorrow.

This evening I've retired to my bedroom and am sitting on my own. I have no patience for anyone else right now and talking hurts.

AdoptedBumpkin · 31/05/2020 20:15

Rain is coming later in the week apparently.

ssd · 31/05/2020 20:19

I don't like rain either. It'll be wet and warm, too hot for Central heating so the washing gangs around the house Sad

ssd · 31/05/2020 20:20

Hangs

The washing doesn't gang up on me...... Too much

mongoosebaby · 31/05/2020 20:23

Yep- hate the heat. Come on rain!!

MulticolourMophead · 31/05/2020 21:21

I've always hated being hot. Then I got hot flushes during the menopause.... People have actually seen me flush red in a wave from my chest upwards, they now believe me when I say it's bad.

So today, I did garden maintenance early morning and after 7pm, when the sun has moved round, and stayed indoors during the middle of the day.

Whatsthishappyhorseshit · 31/05/2020 21:25

AH, here you all are! I've been inside all weekend with curtains drawn, sitting in front of the fan. I can't cope with the heat. It makes me feel sick and headachey and drains all my energy. And it's TOO LIGHT! Horrible glare hurts my eyes. I sweat in places I wouldn't have believed possible and my medication makes it worse. I live in a tiny flat with no garden, in a town. I have no car/money for beach or countryside trips and I'm feeling more and more that I'm too poor for Mumsnet these days.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 31/05/2020 21:32

Yep, hello! I hate it. It makes my autoimmune disorder flare up, I swell, itchy, uncomfortable... Awful.

Meruem · 31/05/2020 21:44

Portable air con will make all your dreams come true! If that’s out of budget, stick a hot water bottle in the freezer and when it’s frozen use it on your feet. It really helps. Keep curtains closed on windows where the sun comes in. At my place it rises at the back of the house and sets at the front. So I open windows on the cool side and keep curtains shut on the warm side, then switch as the sun moves. If it’s hotter outside than in, keep windows closed. Fans aren’t much good, they just circulate the warm air and raise the overall temperature. If you don’t like sleeping with nothing on top of you, a cotton sheet helps to keep you cooler. I’m a long time sufferer of summer SAD (yes it does exist) so I have learnt all the ways to make things a bit easier.

Pinksands1 · 31/05/2020 23:30

You all my sympathies even though I'm glad I am not alone feeling like this too. I'm miserable too and actually did a little whoop when I just checked the weather forecast and seen that it is due to cool down from wednesday onwards.

I'm fat, dont have money for summer clothes, suffer terrible hayfever and I am hot ALL year round and sleep with a fan on even through winter so I have not been enjoying this hot spell.

HellonHeels · 31/05/2020 23:45

Signing in! Hate it. Terrible allergy to suncream too.

InOmniaParatus42 · 31/05/2020 23:48

I've found my people!! I can never understand the fascination of laying in the sun when it's hot Hmm We've all been hiding indoors all day.

Starksforthewin · 01/06/2020 00:50

Signing in too.

It has started too early again for me. Down here in the South East we’ve had sunny weather almost since lockdown began, and I hate it.

Like a PP I can’t stand the relentless brightness for something like 14 hours a day! I’ve made our bedroom the black out room as bright light triggers migraine for me.

These temperatures would once have been “amazing” for July and August. Now they are commonplace from April onwards.
I’m sick of it already and it is only the first of June.

That’s a good tip about the cold hot water bottle. Also, before we had aircon, I would soak a sarong in cold water then wrap it around me to go to bed.
My sleep is rubbish in this weather and the constant “oh isn’t it wonderful” from the sun lovers makes it worse.
We didn’t even have proper winter this year, damp and grey but no snow and I only needed my winter coat for about ten days. I feel cheated!

Emmy2020 · 01/06/2020 09:49

@Meruem What portable air con do you have?

SockQueen · 01/06/2020 09:55

Ah, my people. Bloody hate summer, especially in my stupid garden with no shade, having to put suncream on me and 2 DSs. I hate suncream, the one we've currently got is super sticky and annoying.

TabbyM · 01/06/2020 11:04

Too hot in tiny south facing flat and can't use garden due to dodger neighbours.

Plus too many people out an about spreading plague and no nice cool cafes with air con to hide in

spiderlight · 01/06/2020 11:24

My people!!

Very glad of this wind today but I am longing for Autumn already. DS is lousy with hayfever and we've had the first of many sunscreen battles.

SweetPetrichor · 01/06/2020 15:38

I'm hating it. Our flat holds in heat and while it was 18 degrees outside this morning, it was 28 degrees inside. I also don't like being in the sun so I'm not going outside even if it is cooler out there...I'm going to stay in and sulk!

EstherLittle · 01/06/2020 15:45

I like the heat when I am on holiday and can swim to cool down. But having to work and do normal life in the hot weather - no thanks!

I hate the hot weather here in London. It so dry and dusty and the air is horrible outside. My hayfever is raging this year too which doesn’t help.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 01/06/2020 15:53

Me too! I was doing ok as I’ve mostly been in the house since lockdown so could hibernate near a fan, but I took DS for a drive to a big park earlier. The car was boiling and despite being out for a walk for less than an hour (back by 10.30) my face got burnt in the sun. Eyes are permanently really sore from hay fever. And now lockdown is lifting we have to drive for over an hour each way to spend a whole day in the sun with the pil next weekend 😡

Meruem · 01/06/2020 15:53

@Emmy2020

It was this one:
www.airconcentre.co.uk/products/kyr-45gw-x1c-mobile-air-conditioning-unit-14000-btu-kyr-45gw
Although it was a bit cheaper when I got it about 6 yrs ago. It's great though. Couldn't be without it now.

RedKite1 · 01/06/2020 16:00

South facing bedroom with 4 big windows. The worst curtain decision ever, I knew nothing about linings, neither did the curtain lady, expensive fabric, very thin lining, they hang like sheets, mean measuring so they don’t quite meet in the middle and loads of light comes in from the sides. 10 years in and I hate them so much, but they were expensive. I know this isn’t a curtain thread (sorry) but my massive bedroom which should be a joy is my least favourite room, hellishly hot. Doesn’t matter what time it is. I am 50s menopausal and hay fever. DH cannot tolerate the noise from a fan.

JollyHostess · 01/06/2020 16:15

Signing in for this year.
Although I have to say that my hatred of hot weather has been eased hugely by not having to commute.
No sweaty train, no boiling tube.
I can sit at home with the blinds shut, fan on, minimal clothing.

Emmy2020 · 01/06/2020 17:41

@Meruem Thanks! 😊
