How do you ‘get out’ of a bad mood?

Feeling a bit ‘meh’ this afternoon. Have failed at everything I’ve tried to do and just feel snappy. So, have popped in ear buds and playing very loud music to myself. Still, been a bit of a bitch to my family tho.
What do you do that helps break the mood?

Can you close yourself off in a room with music and beer? Have a sing and a dance?

HollysBush · 29/05/2020 18:40

Go for a walk. Usually see interesting things which distracts me.

peajotter · 29/05/2020 18:41

Be alone. Think. Pray. Breathe.

Also chocolate

CherieBabySpliffUp · 29/05/2020 18:41

Could you go out for a walk? A change of scenery might help?

BroomHandledMouser · 29/05/2020 18:42

I’m feeling the same. Was crying whilst making paella earlier for no reason whatsoever.

Currently drinking gin - seems to be helping

Magpiefeather · 29/05/2020 18:45

By doing something creative - usually making something, sewing, singing, painting or drawing. Or go for a walk, or have a good old stretch.

Today I felt blue because I should be on holiday. I badly wanted to be in Costas bar, or Takis place or Valentis place.

I gave myself a good talking to (you know, stuff like I'm lucky to be alive, would I really want to risk spreading the virus to the older inhabitants of the place etc) and then I told my family I live with that I felt melancholy, they sympathised. And them we had a right bitch about the ineptitude of this government. That did the trick.

Try getting angry, op, it worked wonders for me

RobuxBriberyIsMyLifeNow · 29/05/2020 19:12

I watch stand up comedy or comedy-based shows/theatre.
I went on go faster stripe and streamed Ben Moor's Plural Trouble for a fiver and pretended I was in Edinburgh yesterday.
The only upside for me the last 3 months has been access to theatre online, that has got me out of several funks.

SinglePringle · 29/05/2020 19:13

Exercise. Never fails.

Bedsheets4knickers · 29/05/2020 19:16

Normally I have to sleep it off . I always wake up the next day a different person . Be kind to yourself x

hellohungryimmummy · 29/05/2020 19:16

Go for a walk in the sunshine and make some serotonin 🙂

Ghostlyglow · 29/05/2020 19:17

Go for a walk and take pictures of stuff. Sounds naff but helps me stop thinking about whatever is pissing me off.
And alcohol Wink

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 29/05/2020 19:20

For me it’s Yoga with Adriene every time.

And every time I do it I think “why don’t I do this more/why didn’t I do this sooner”?

I just seem come out of a (easy) session without the hump.... maybe still a bit Eeyore but not with the desire to disembowel anyone.

ElectricTonight · 29/05/2020 19:43

Eat and a nice hot shower.

wonkytonkwoman · 29/05/2020 19:48

I go for a walk and it really helps and it's much better than buying a ton of useless crap online

thenamesarealltaken · 29/05/2020 21:14

Distraction is often the best way - call someone, watch something that is easy to watch on tv - not the news! Listen to music, do some cleaning - which is productive... go for a walk, a run, etc. Just fill your mind with other thoughts for a while

NaturalCleaningParticles · 29/05/2020 21:17

Following with interest! My bad moods often spiral into thinking that I don't deserve to do anything nice to take my mind off it Sad

BikeRunSki · 29/05/2020 21:20

Walk, bike ride, run
I need to exercise outside by myself, for at least an hour

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 29/05/2020 21:21

Me too Natural. I don’t think I deserve to do nice things for myself just now. I think it’s rather a grumpy time generally just now. People are generally pretty fed up and being snappy with one another. We e had enough.

SunshineDays2019 · 29/05/2020 21:21

Sleep helps me, even an hour to unwind and have a nap

PrawnSacrifice · 29/05/2020 22:05

Go to bed, write the day off and try again tomorrow.

MerryDeath · 29/05/2020 22:22

loud music and dancing like a fool. I'm terrible at taking my own advice but if i do it is a balm.

KellyHall · 29/05/2020 22:29

Exercise, or telephone my mum, cry, or call her whilst walking and crying!

Having hardly used my car for weeks, the last 3 times I've got in it something has been wrong with it (engine warning light, then windscreen wiper, today the windscreen had a huge fucking crack right across it!) I called my mum, cried a lot, felt much better!

choosesoap · 29/05/2020 22:32

lift some weights, run, hug my dog, eat something nice

Nacreous · 29/05/2020 22:32

Bed is the best solution for me.

Otherwise reading a book that's escapism can help.
