(dreaming) I think I've found my new house... just a couple of teensy issues

Its a bit far to commute to work and the school run will be an absolute pig. But isn't it amazing (the kitchen table has to go though)?

I don't know OP - it's a bit small?

Lordfrontpaw · 26/05/2020 18:51

8,543sq foot a bit small?

Catnuzzle · 26/05/2020 18:54

Can't say I'm keen. Not that I need to worry at that price!

Lordfrontpaw · 26/05/2020 18:55

not only do you have the little glasshouse bit on the top - but you get your own pulpit.

Needs new linen throughout.

£1.2m - it's not what I'd buy there are some nice houses with some land for that

IncrediblySadToo · 26/05/2020 18:56

Not acres & acres, just some nice outside space

Buddyelf · 26/05/2020 18:56

There’s something about living in an old church that really doesn’t sit well with me and I’m not sure why. Not particularly religious but having a pulpit and all the other paraphernalia would freak me out

LongPauseNoReply · 26/05/2020 18:57

I don’t like it at all! It’s a big cavernous box devoid of real character. I prefer cosier spaces

picklemewalnuts · 26/05/2020 18:58

No garden... and a lot of wasted floor space. Potential though.

Lordfrontpaw · 26/05/2020 19:02

But can you imagine rollerskating or throwing a ball around in there? I think its the space I really like - my flat is the size of their kitchen! It's quite a nice art of the world too.

I wouldn't mind living in a church - I use to work for the CofE and always likes exploring the buildings. The ceiling and beams are pretty nice in there. I like old buildings with original features. You can add your own personality (its a bit 80s).

Not sure that I'd want to live in it but it is gorgeous. I found my dream home a couple of years ago. A friend in Texas posted the listing for her neighbour's house and I absolutely fell in love with it. For what it was, it was ridiculously cheap compared to UK prices. DH wouldn't let me buy it though Sad

sqirrelfriends · 26/05/2020 19:17

I found a lovely old abbey a few weeks ago, decided against it- probably haunted and was far too cheap.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/05/2020 19:24

I don't like open plan kitchens. You cook something and then the smell gets everywhere.
At the uni I went to one of the halls was a converted church. They hadn't changed much on the outside and to fit everything in it was a bit random! The flat my friend lived in had a corridor with some random stonework half way down and you had to go down some stairs and round a corner for her kitchen! Apparently the other flats were equally as odd.
Personally I think they've taken an interesting building and removed all the character. And yes, the commute would be awful.

itsanotherdayinparadise · 26/05/2020 19:26

Was that house in Grand designs once? Looks really familiar

picklemewalnuts · 26/05/2020 19:27

I love converted churches.

slipperywhensparticus · 26/05/2020 19:29

I can just imagine my cats on those floors

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 26/05/2020 19:30

This is the best concerted church - www.knightfrank.co.uk/properties/residential/for-sale/walton-street-knightsbridge-london-sw3/pcl180065

JudyCoolibar · 26/05/2020 19:39

Heating costs would be mahoosive, and I think all that open plan would get me down. There are times when you want/need to be able to shut yourself away without retreating to a bedroom.

SeasonFinale · 26/05/2020 19:39

Wow that is lovely MrAlyhakinsetc

Stamp duty works out at £5, 193, 000!!

TheThingWithFeathers · 26/05/2020 19:44

I love it! If I was sleeping in that small bedroom, I'd be a bit worried about the pine unit falling on top of me though.

JudyCoolibar · 26/05/2020 19:44

The Knightsbridge one seems all rather Gentlemen's Club to me, though I fancy the pool. As I don't happen to have £44 mill to spare at the moment, I'll give it a swerve. Wink

Lordfrontpaw · 26/05/2020 19:46

Handy for Harrods I guess. 7 bedrooms though - one for each night for the week!

lovely bit of shit carpet underneath the kitchen table and units where they touch the floor...how weird

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 26/05/2020 19:57

ah...dning room, not kitchen...and under the coffee table!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 26/05/2020 20:02

It needs an injection of colour but I do quite like it. And the views from that top room would be great
