@TheWayOfTheWorld have you noticed they've got softer? The ones of my childhood (70's) were so, so hard. I used to line them up on the top of the electric fire to soften them up.

If you do have a time machine - those (? Terrys) sweets that were two halves of a walnut or similar , chocolate shell filled with soft caramel and a hazelnut .
Each half was mouthsized , if you bit into it , you got soft caramel bloody everywhere
