What will get rid of the wrinkle forming between my eyebrows?

ItchyScratch · 25/05/2020 15:57

Ok other than Botox or any other expensive procedure, WHAT will get rid of - or at least improve- the deep wrinkle that is forming between my 36 year old eye brows?

Someone must know a miracle cream or something?

Things I’ve tried so far-

  • the Olay regenerist range
  • retinol serum
  • upping my water intake to 200 gallons a day
  • cutting sugar
  • more fruit & veg
  • telling it to go away with an angry tone
  • telling it nicely to please leave
  • lighting a candle, whilst staring into the mirror and praying to the skin gods
  • bathing in the tears of a unicorn with the hairs from a Norwegian elf

Thank you please x

I’m sorry to say that line is a Botox job. I’m the same age as you and had the same problem.... until Botox. It’s a muscle issue and until the muscle relaxes in that area it won’t really go away. I was a bit scared before I had my first injection but it’s been fab. Sleep better as I don’t drown in my sleep and the crease just melts away...

A slight bit of weight gain may help if your BMI is at the lower end (or slow and gentle weight loss if you are obese). Some facial exercises can help but it takes a long time. Other than that the only thing that could work is prescription retinol but you would need a dermatologist for that.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 25/05/2020 16:11

Only Botox will sort that, no other magic lotions or potions will work

Nothing works other than botox. Don't waste your time and money looking for an alternative.

TooMinty · 25/05/2020 16:13

A fringe!

RoosterPie · 25/05/2020 16:14

If you get Botox do you have to keep getting it for it to work? I would get it once or twice as I also have that line but don’t want to have to get it every few months forever!

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 16:15

Prescription strength retinol will help over a longer period . Make sure you are hydrated

But I honestly Came to say botox . Iv had it done in that exact area for Years and it’s pretty much completely reversed it .

Botox has totally worn off now due to lockdown and there is still no lines there when face at rest . So yeh I Vote botox if it’s bothering you

olivehater · 25/05/2020 16:17

Apart from Botox which I have already done for the first time Just before lockdown and so happy with the results I would say getting your eyes tested and making sure you aren’t squinting.

Bellebelle · 25/05/2020 16:17

Botox is the only thing to properly get rid of it.

Daily facial massage can make a difference although you really need to do it everyday (twice if you can) and for many months.
Suggest taking a look at the Facegym on Instagram, they’re doing so great live sessions that you can follow along with.

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 16:22

If you do decide on switching up your retinol I use dermatica , they are U.K. based and Iv had really good service so far . Trying to order from abroad turned out to be a total mess around

utterflapdoodle · 25/05/2020 16:39

I use Frownies. They're little stiff paper triangles that you stick between your eyebrows overnight which stop you frowning in your sleep.

It won't get rid of the wrinkle but it will slow down the speed it gets worse at. My "Angry Elevens" are still there but I can honestly say since I started using the Frownies, three years or so ago, it hasn't noticeably got any worse.

Sadly Botox is the only real solution if you want it gone.

augustusglupe · 25/05/2020 16:50

Botox is particularly good for this area. I wouldn’t waste money on anything else.
Creams and healthy diet etc are great for the skin, but they won’t reverse wrinkles.

Ponoka7 · 25/05/2020 16:57

An alternative to Botox is fibroblasting.

I use a home radiotherapy machine from QVC, because I didn't want botox and it does make the lines less and overall improve my skin. Combined with a good skincare routine involving retinol and hyaluronic acid etc it will help.

Nows the age that you need to up your skincare, if you are bothered by the signs of ageing.

nameoflame · 25/05/2020 17:04

Sorry to hop in but I have two faint wrinkles across my forehead, and a few around my eyes when I smile. Would these need Botox to get rid of these or would something else work? The forehead ones bother me more than the eye ones.

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 17:21

Botox works perfect for forehead if you have faint lines they should be completely gone while Botox is active .

Eyes are a little less predictable and it doesn’t last as long . In theory Botox is also good for crows feet IE the lines to the side of eye the crinkle when you smile but for the more static fine lines you get under the eye it doesn’t seem to be as effective

ItchyScratch · 25/05/2020 17:24

Ok I’m swaying to Botox now.

For those who have had Botox- particularly in that area-

  • how much was one session
  • how long did it last til you needed another go
  • no offence meant whatsoever but did it LOOK like you had Botox done (and by that I’m thinking of certain celebs who have a creepy looking bride of weinstein type face)

Nothing, only botox. I'm 58 and have a deep one in the same place, botox makes it lovely and smooth for about 4 months.
I shop around for prices, botox done by an actual doctor tends to be much cheaper if you can find one and saves all that faffing with prescriptions.

madcatladyforever · 25/05/2020 17:26

Mine cost £60, lasted for four months and I don't look plastic at all. I only have the botox where I need it and can still move my face. I loather the plastic face look and I don't have it.

quarantinevibes · 25/05/2020 17:28

Once a wrinkle has formed nothing is getting rid of it unfortunately (apart from Botox) you can only slow down the process of getting them, retinol, creams and good skin care routine, spf daily, water intake, diet, etc, etc, but once one has formed, which cant always be avoided if you’re pulling that facial expression everyday, sleeping in a certain position, etc, you’re not going to get that wrinkle out.

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 17:30

I wouldn’t say I look like iv had it done at all I think sometimes people mistake filler etc for Botox or when people have the really frozen smooth forehead look but lower face gives them away when they are a lot older . You honestly won’t tell other than the lines will be gone .

I think one area is roughly about 140 around here ( so eleven lines count as one area )

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 17:32

I get it done every 6 months but it probably has worn off around month 4 but mine but I just go twice a year

Bertucci · 25/05/2020 17:32

Botox. I have it every 9 months or so. Mine is 3 areas, £300.

twostripycats · 25/05/2020 17:36

Thanks for posting this OP! I have the same issue. I’m not yet 30 but have had it for years. Must just be my grumpy face!

I’m considering Botox before my wedding so it doesn’t ruin all my pictures. £60 doesn’t sound too bad!

justkeepmovingon · 25/05/2020 17:45

shouldisay · 25/05/2020 17:54

I'm afraid it's Botox. I have those lines, they are my WTF lines and those bastards run deep!! I can't afford Botox but if I could.....
