Do you have a To Do List?

I have one constantly on the go. I break it down in to daily tasks. Sometimes hourly or even per 15 minutes.

I have GAD and am just wondering if this is an offshoot from that. Or an I just really organised? Grin (I’m not- I’m an anxious procrastinator!)

I feel a bit of a mess to be honest. Not really sure what’s normal anymore.

I have several ...love crossing things off Grin I also use Home Routines - an app which I think was recommended on here once.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/05/2020 21:07

Oh good! I might need an app now too Grin

I use lists a lot. Most of the time it's so I don't forget things but also so my family can look at them and do stuff on them. I love coming to my list and finding half of it crossed through 😁

greengauges · 22/05/2020 21:10

I have a notebook with to-do lists on my desk at work, and that is really handy. Perhaps I should start doing the same at home.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/05/2020 21:10

Wow how do you get others to do and cross things off your list? That’s witchcraft!

At work I started writing my list on
Post it notes- scrunching you was more satisfying that crossing out!
When all the neon squares have gone, I can go home!
Can't function without a list.

grafittiartist · 22/05/2020 21:14

Scrunching up paper obviously!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 22/05/2020 21:19

I do sometimes for work or for organising my entries into different photography competitions but otherwise no, I don't tend to plan that much and just do things as they crop up.

Yankathebear · 22/05/2020 21:21

Yes, at home and at work. I get anxious without them.

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 21:21

I ALWAYS have a to do list. Even if it's not written down (it mostly is). Compulsive organiser.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/05/2020 21:32

Ok feeling better now! I always have a list too, however I have noticed that when I am less anxious, I use my lists less. Like a control thing. Definitely.

I have loads of lists on the go
shopping list on kitchen counter, to do on phone, then other ones for example books that I want to read.

I find writing things as they pop in to my head frees up a bit of headspace!

WitchDancer · 22/05/2020 22:09

It never really occurred to me that my family wouldn't do stuff on my to do lists! It may be because I am disabled so they're used to helping out 😁

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/05/2020 22:13

They’ll do things if I tell /ask. I don’t think they would voluntarily seek out my list though. Dh does all the food shopping for example, but he hates it if I hand him a list.

I like to start my to do list with a couple of things I've already done so I can have something crossed off.

RedSoloCup · 22/05/2020 22:20

No but I should actually have one and tell ask others in the house to also do, things as they probably would sometimes occasionally with a bit of direction??

greengauges · 22/05/2020 22:33

I do occasionally experience the gratification of writing a shopping list and leaving it on the side, for it to disappear and bags full of food to magically appear in its place Smile

WitchDancer · 22/05/2020 22:40

Now that is magic GreenGrass!

WitchDancer · 22/05/2020 22:41

Whoops sorry, GreenGauges...

OnlyToWin · 22/05/2020 22:43

Massive list writer here.

Also owner of massive collection of list writing related stationery. Something about a magnetic notepad with “To do” written at the top just does it for me!!Grin

Twixes · 22/05/2020 22:52

I'm mad for lists and I also have GAD Confused. It's all about control!

Bellebelle · 22/05/2020 22:56

Constantly use lists, normally have one for what I need to do that day and always have other longer term ones in my phone that I refer to. Helps me remember things and I think also makes me more likely to do them for the sense of satisfaction of ticking things off.

@grafittiartist post-it notes have an app where you can create lists using post-it’s and it even lets you ‘scrunch’ them up when they’re done!

LonginesPrime · 22/05/2020 23:00

Grin

If I do something that's not on my list, I write it down so I can cross it off.

ClaudiaWankleman · 22/05/2020 23:02

I write a new one each day for work. I call in (in my head anyway) the 'Teedee-Elle'.

Outside of work I don't use it. I prefer to be a bit more spontaneous and relaxed with my home life than I do with work, where I pride myself on being particularly efficient.

CherryPavlova · 22/05/2020 23:06

I have a paper book with a daily list; it gives focus in and out of work.
