I always said my dogs paws smelt of basmati rice......but my favourite was when they’d been out and then they smelt of soil and all earthy.....mmmm

My dog’s lovely feet smell of wotsits, I’ve not tried his inner ears though! His general doggy smell is just gorgeous though, apart from when he’s wet, and it turns into generic ‘wet dog’ . Other than that, could smell him all day...

I've loss my sense of smell for 2 months now and the dog paw smell is one I'm missing sooooo much.🐾

My little dog has cheesy paws, I've never noticed a scent to her inner ears before though! The smell of her tummy when its all warm after a nap though? I don't even know how to describe it but wow its my favourite smell ever

Cheesy wotsit paws here, lovely soft pink tummy with baby soft fur (she's 10) and when she's warm she smells like basmati rice and I love it! Outside of ears lovely baby powder smell, inside stinky!!

Ha ha yes to the feet but the dank rank ears of fetid smegma here.

I can confirm that cats also have lovely biscuity smelling little feet (toebeans). Their stomachs also smell AMAZING when they've been curled up sleeping for a while. I'm not so keen to try the ears though.

Still for me the best animal smell in the world is my horses' muzzles. Grassy and sweet and horsey all at the same time.

@Panticus definitely - the soft bit of the muzzle. My horse was found in the field and I kissed that bit of her to say goodbye

Yes, paws smell like biscuits - lovely! But the inside of his ears smell revolting.

One of our cats sometimes has little sweaty smelling paws after she's been asleep. You know that really deep sleep where they're sleeping so hard that they get a bit damp on the tucked in bits? God, I love sniffing her then. And the smell of their fur when they come in from outside in winter and they have cold, woodsmokey air clinging to them.

Thank you for engaging in this important research. Mine is a spaniel and I see one other spaniel owner has honey ears too. I’m questioning why I sniff the inside of my dogs ears so regularly. She’s like a big, slightly crusty comfort blanket.

He really is the scruffiest dog in the world at the moment but luckily he likes me brushing him and loves a bath. However the spaniel instincts mean that he spends his time in bushes or water which tends to undo my good work.

My cats feet smell like warm, homemade biscuits. I wonder how that is possible as her mouth (which she uses to clean them with) often smells revolting!

My dog has popcorn smelling feet, her ears are far too small and fluffy to get a good sniff though. She had a groom on Saturday and smells pretty good right now, she’s got a lovely thick, soft ruff of fur around her neck which is so nice to bury your face in. We’re always picking her up just so we can snuggle her.
