What restaurant dishes are you missing, and would like to recreate at home?

Really missing going out to eat. Also trying to save money, so no take aways.

I love cooking, but can't seem to get the authentic flavour of Indian food. What dishes are you craving?

I would pay such good money for a McDonald's cheeseburger, chips and a syrupy coke

I've realised that the food is a matter of supreme indifference to me - it's all about the atmosphere and the people watching.

Some eating out is for amazing food or stuff too faffy to make yourself (sushi). Some is for the fuck it feeling of everyone fed, no complaining and no washing up (McDs). I've eaten in 2 Michelin star restaurant but right now, with two kids, I miss fast food more!

@borntohula

There is a video on YouTube on how to make McDonalds fries 🍟

It was so complicated

For me, really nice cake and desserts. There are a few places we go that do amazing cakes

I've found the secret to restaurant quality pizza is lots of good olive oil.

I make a really decent pizza. Not dissimilar to Pizza Express. I use Nigella's pizza dough recipe from How To Be a Domestic Goddess, make tomato sauce with onion, garlic, decent olive oil, decent tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, maldon salt and black pepper, and use some semolina to sprinkle on the peel to make sure the dough slides off easily and it gives a lovely texture. And bake it on pizza stones with the oven at 240 degrees.

So we are not missing pizza!

But god I could murder a really good tapas meal.

Like others, I miss sushi and also yaki soba.

We’re both good enough cooks and will give most recipes a go - MasterChef Australia and My Kitchen Rules Australia have a lot to do with our delusions. sometimes the logistics of some of the ingredients make it unrealistic or the fear it’s going to be an almighty disaster... like sushi. I would have added risotto, which i like and DH will eat, but thanks to lockdown I’ve been trying out the Instant Pot that has been hiding in my cupboard more,

Our local Wagamama opens again for deliveries today and I am so excited 😆
