When I go for my daily walk, I try and work out how many cars you could possibly for into people's driveways....

What about you?

I knit.

Except that I can't knit.

I have my childhood Knitting Nancy and am making a long Coronavirus Sausage. So far it fills a beach bag.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

RedskyAtnight · 14/05/2020 12:17

When we're out, I play "count the people" with DD. She is 14 :)

Fenlandmountainrescue · 14/05/2020 12:38

In ye olde days I used to check which cars we walked past that had their tax overdue. Also, spot the number 13! Lots of streets deliberately do not have a number 13.

Nowadays I barely leave the house and tax discs don’t exist 😢

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 14/05/2020 12:39

I've worked a quite a few care homes and there's never a room 13.

If there is then it'll be used as storage.

weegiemum · 14/05/2020 12:41

I'm getting quite good at Making Conversation About Football Matches That Aren't Happening.

(Ds is 18 and a huge footy fan)

GivenchyDahhling · 14/05/2020 12:48

Jigsaw puzzles. I love the fact that they can be so absorbing and take me away from my phone for hours on end.

Cattenberg · 14/05/2020 13:38

Jigsaw puzzles for me too. I’ve been helping DD with her toddler puzzles, and I decided I really wanted to make one with more than 24 pieces. I’ve dug out one with 1000 pieces which should keep me busy for several evenings.

DesmondTheMoonbear · 14/05/2020 13:42

Checking the local wholefood shop's FB page to see what new and interesting fruit and veg they have in. They got pine berries today which I really want to try, but I'm waiting on a delivery so I can't leave the house.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/05/2020 13:47

You still do this by searching their numberplate on the DVLA website if you wanted. You can also look up their MOT history to see how badly they failed their MOTs.

DP and I were going somewhere, driving behind a really tatty, badly driven van and he made a comment of the 'fuck knows how that got an MOT' variety.

I entered the number plate on the website on my phone and entertained him for the rest of the journey with frightening tales of illegal tyres, corroded bodywork and knackered suspension.

Maths, I love maths I make my boyfriend set me hard sums to do, he thinks it’s bonkers but he’s pleased it keeps me quiet for a while.

Megatron · 14/05/2020 13:50

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon Grin

I'm very interested to see your sausage.

I've turned into a twitcher. I watch the birds in the garden obsessively and it's marvellous.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon

That's hilarious! Could you see it together in a spiral to make a rug/cot blanket/dolly cot blanket/dog or cat blanket... um... coaster?

I'd just got back into jigsaws over Christmas but then I got kittens. Puzzles are now in the car boot ready for when we can visit MIL again.

StCharlotte · 14/05/2020 13:52

Sew it together not see

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/05/2020 14:03

I have started doing diamond art, which is very nice.
And I'm trying my hand at needle felting.
And some origami
And cross stitch
I don't have a very long attention span though so I need to keep swapping which craft I'm doing. I also don't have huge amounts of time to do it in as I'm still working

Boopear · 14/05/2020 14:06

Adult painting by numbers. How did life come to this... Blush

NuffSaidSam · 14/05/2020 14:08

'am making a long Coronavirus Sausage'

😂 I can see that in a museum one day, like the bayeux tapestry!

Afonavon · 14/05/2020 14:10

I have also found a love for 1000piece jigsaws, I bloody love them now and we’ve stopped eating at the table as we’ve prioritised jigsaws there.

Teatowel1 · 14/05/2020 14:15

I love colouring! There are some brilliant adult colouring books available, but I like mandala ones best. Utterly crap at all other art/craft, but I did buy knitting needles and wool, and a teach yourself to knit book, which I haven't even opened yet!

HouseOfSticks · 14/05/2020 14:16

I do lots and lots of jigsaws with DD. I challenge myself by doing them upside down.
We pick favourite houses on our walk. But there is only about 3 walks we can do so we comment on the same houses every time.

bookmum08 · 14/05/2020 14:19

Not sure if this would be a hobby or not but I like going on Google Images and looking at pictures of things like book covers from the 1970s or bus designs from other countries.

LakeTittyHaHa · 14/05/2020 14:21

Identifying birds by just their song whilst on our daily walks. If I can’t work it out I’ll go in the RSPB website and listen to their audio clips to identify it. Also being able to identify most birds in flight from their wings/style of flying etc

It’s so utterly nerdy, it’s my secret shame, though DH thinks it’s an amazing talent. But then DH is a car nerd who can identify a car just from the sound of it driving past... we do present as normal to the outside world though Grin

Allthepinkunicorns · 14/05/2020 14:29

Another jigsaw puzzle lover here. I've completed 6 1000 piece puzzles recently and a 3d Eiffel tower. I'm also getting into gardening. I love watching Monty Don on gardeners world. What has Covid done to me?

Bloops · 14/05/2020 14:32

I've found myself making a different salad every day. I cut everything into tiny pieces and although they always taste delicious, I never thought I would spend 30+ mins a day chopping.. the best combo so far is fig, pear, sultanas, lots of different lettuce leaves, seeds and nuts.

monkeyonthetable · 14/05/2020 14:35

I can now complete the Guardian Sudoku, quick crossword, wordwheel and Suguru all within 20-30 minutes depending on how hard the sudoku is. When I first did sudoku I used to struggle even wiht the easy ones. Now they just click.
Not a skill I am desperate to have learned. Would love to do something more inspired but am lacking inspiration!

LesleysChestnutBob · 14/05/2020 14:36

I've started trying to learn to knit. I've spent a huge amount of money on wool and needles so I really hope I stick with it!
