Do you have a dressing table? Come talk to me.

I’m in two minds on whether to get a dressing table or not. I currently get ready in the spare room and I’m sick of seeing all my crap stuff, left on the bed.

A couple of questions for those of you who have one:

Do you use it?
Does it keep your stuff tidy or is it just another place to leave things on top of?
Where did you get it?

I’ve been looking online at a few, but nothing has really caught my eye at the moment. I don’t want a cheap one that looks like it will fall apart, but I also don’t want to spend £500+ for something I will never bloody use.

TIA.

Not interested. Dh suggested it tonight. I just need a chair. To throw a few clothes that can be worn again.

I have one collecting dust. My DP moans about it every time I sit on the floor in front of my mirrored wardrobe to do my hair / make up.

I have one and I use it. I don't know where else I would put serums, eye cream, moisturiser, brush etc otherwise.

I can’t locate mine in front of the window so it is only used to put things on, then I sit on the bed in front of the window to actually do things. Can see anything where it is.

I have this one. Its very handy for storage. I also have my desk and I find I do a lot of my makeup there too.

I’ve just purchased one and am very pleased with myself Grin

Thanks for sharing and all the beautiful pictures.

Which did you buy?? I’ve wanted one for ages and this thread has inspired me to bite the bullet and get one!

ChiaraRimini · 12/05/2020 20:35

Mine is an Edwardian "brown wood" job. Bought on eBay for £150 as was terribly unfashionable, had drink rings and mirror foxed. I painted it with Annie Sloane chalk paint. It's mostly decorative, as I do my makeup in the bathroom, but I use the mirror for hair drying and it looks pretty in a shabby chic way.

SheliaHammondDiet · 12/05/2020 20:38

Here it is.

Now I just need a triple mirror.

That's beautiful!

Avacadoandtoast · 13/05/2020 07:10

Love it! Can you share where it is from?

LockdownLyra · 13/05/2020 07:37

That looks gorgeous! Do you have a window you can place it in front of?

I love my dressing table and I miss the convenience of it when I’m away, I hate when hotels have one placed against a dark wall so it’s virtually unusable for doing make up.

My DH's grandfather made my dressing table (he was a woodwork teacher) and it's my favourite piece of furniture in the house!

It's beautiful to look at but I find a dressing table so bloody practical. It's got two rows of three drawers, so there's room for my jewellery in one, sewing kit in another, important documents (like passport, will etc), our "medical" drawer with pills, etc, one drawer for hairbrushes, hairdryer etc, and one for all my make up. Pretty pot with make up brushes is on display on the top, along with bottles of perfumes. A lamp, a couple of silver photo frames and a box of tissues finishes it off! Don't forget you'll need a nice chair or stool to sit at, ideally that you can slide underneath (unless your bedroom is huge).

Thank-you! It’s from Etsy Avacado

Yes lockdown my bedroom has a bay window, it can go under. Just need to do some shuffling of stuff.

Mine's overflowing with stuff. It's become a dumping ground for all the stuff I buy.

Mine is a whole Ikea special in the dressing room! I have the white malm with a large Skadis Pegboard over the top which has little baskets for brushes and hooks for necklaces etc and then I have the Hollywood style lightbulbs fixed over it.

Pic of pegboard not mine I add.
