Our patio area is ditched. Scrubbed it with hotwater and washing up liquid but isnt lifting the ground in dirt. Ive just read you can buy patio cleaner...anyone used just this to lift years of dirt without usingba pressure washer/cleaner?

The pale yellow is stone, not wood.

Can I clean my patio without a pressure washer?

Soda crystals sprinkled on and then made into a bit of a paste with water. Then brush with a stiff brush. Wash down.

The discoloration is mostly algae. The black takes more shifting than the green. There's a product called Enclean which is harmless, having the same classification as household soap. Spray on and within two days it will be clean. Black may need further treatment.

God I'd love to get my pressure washer on that @LouisaMusgrove!

My pressure washer went on strike, half way through doing the patio. I finished it off with bleach and a scrub with a broom, left it to dry and the rain washed it away
The bleached half was as clean as the pressure washed half

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

I bought a Product called Wet&Forget years ago.

I bought the same brand for the shower. I have a water softener so no real issue with limescale. That product does nothing more than a £1 bottle of CIF cream does. It really is an oversold brand.

I bought a new patio washer this year (HINT: teenage child LOVES using gadgets - you dont think I cleaned my patio do you? #childlabour). The patio looks really clean but there are black algae spots that we will now do using hard manual labour with product and a brush.

BUT warning. Aforesaid teenage child wants to clean EVERYTHING using power washer. my water bill is not looking good!!

If you get a pressure washer get the one with the cover over the spray. www.screwfix.com/p/karcher-k2-full-control-home-110bar-pressure-washer-1-4kw-240v/7105t

We used to have the one on a type of stick and we'd get wet legs and it splashes the windows.

LouisaMusgrove This is what my patio looks like too!

@spongedog apparently diluted bleach left on the black spot for 15 mins and then scrubbed off works - haven't tried it yet but a few of my slabs have it so need to find a solution.
