Grey kitchens

Those utterly hideous triangle style wall paintings that everyone is doing with frog tape.
House plants (guilty, your honour)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/05/2020 15:13

The lockdown trends...

  1. Geometric walls made using paint and tape
  2. repainting your kitchen cupboards
  3. making garden furniture/play equipment out of pallets you have lying around
  4. A den made from a cot.

Crittal Windows, in showers, room dividers, kitchens. Herringbone floors, wigwams in the nursery with added bonus for dream catcher.

I’m not a fan of the frog tape triangle pattern wall, I’ve noticed you can now get wallpaper with the same pattern and look!

OublietteBravo · 04/05/2020 15:22

I’ve just painted my office green. A colour that is so old it has been discontinued by Dulux. Paired with a very tasteful red carpet because the tip is closed. So I’m guessing the current trend is the complete opposite of this look Grin

Pretty much everything in this thread, I’ve done at least once in the last 30 years. But I always prefer kitchens to be white.

MagnificentMillie · 04/05/2020 15:38

I am going to go white for my next kitchen or at least something that can be painted. It’s too expensive to have something that will date quickly.

Thelnebriati · 04/05/2020 15:43

I loathe mustard and geometric shapes. Our kitchen needs doing and I'm thinking of just slapping a couple of coats of white paint on the walls and wearing tinted glasses.

francienolan · 04/05/2020 15:48

Feature walls with bold wallpaper or geometric paint.

HasaDigaEebowai · 04/05/2020 15:51

jewel colours, mixed metals, art deco

DinosApple · 04/05/2020 16:08

Well DH has just repainted our kitchen in its original colours of green (Wellbeing) and turquoise.
@OublietteBravo is that Wellbeing? We got it mixed at B&Q in their brand to match. The living room is magnolia and muddy puddle. Bathroom dark pink.

Whatevers on trend, it's never is in our house. I'm good with that Grin.

doodlejump1980 · 04/05/2020 16:11

Navy apparently is the new grey

AlltheLemurs · 04/05/2020 16:14

I also think grey is (mercifully) on the way out as is Hague Blue and rose gold. Still a lot of them around but that’s what always happens with these trends.

I have noticed the jungle walls a bit. A lot of very dark colours which I don’t like so gloomy. A lot of turquoise for outdoor woodwork.

I think a wider range of bright colours will be coming in. Velvet and nice textures (at least in my home). White remains a trend. A lot of home decor is so ubiquitous. It is hard to avoid if you hate a particular trend.

AnnaNimmity · 04/05/2020 16:14

I've just got rid of all the grey in my house! Scandi style? Pah!

I've gone for really strong dark colours - including dark blue. It's not for everyone, but it looks lovely I think.

Im by no means an early adopter, so if I've gone off grey, I imagine it went out of fashion about 6 months ago.

I really like strong (dark) wallpaper too - look at woodchipandmagnolia or house of hackney on Instagram.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/05/2020 16:16

One of my siblings' kitchens - grey cabinets, dark blue walls, copper light fittings.

Kittykatmacbill · 04/05/2020 16:21

I don’t think the grey walls and house plants look is particularly new. Certainly we have been decorating like this since w bought our first house in 2003.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/05/2020 16:32

There's not much point following trends unless you decorate every year. Better to just have what you like in your house.

IpanemaGallina · 04/05/2020 16:38

Dark blue. Teal. Mustard yellows. Copper pots. House plants in glass atriums. French grey is going...

OublietteBravo · 04/05/2020 17:06

@DinosApple - it’s called Melon Sorbet. Bought as an end of line bargain in Wilko about 3 or 4 years ago. And finally used out of desperation. I actually quite like it....

DinosApple · 04/05/2020 17:11

It's very similar to Wellbeing (- also discontinued) I've been staring at it a lot recently! Grin
I love your funky carpet too!

lucialou · 04/05/2020 17:24

I have a lot of grey but more used as a sort of base/neutral colour where beige or cream could be used

SuperlativeScrubs · 04/05/2020 17:27

Had no idea plants were the "in" thing. I have had them for years.

Also animal furs. I am a taxidermist, bug and skull collector in my spare time. Sounds like I could be profiting from all this Grin

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 04/05/2020 17:29

Shock at Dalmatian print

Scruffyoak · 04/05/2020 17:42

I've seen dusky pink but I dont like it.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 04/05/2020 17:49

Id love a big house plant but i fear my cats would shit in them....
