Was sick after the birth of my second one - and lots of shaking.
Definitely not gas and air - she was a completely natural birth with no drugs/intervention whatsoever.

DS1 - I was sick with every contraction until I reached hospital and they gave me an epidural. Wasn't sick at all after that.

DS2 not sick at all.

Yes sadly.
I was sick all through labour before my vaginal birth. Vomitted and couldn't keep anything down, so they put me on a drip.

Then I couldn't pee but still had fluids going in, told the mw that, but still spent about an hour pushing against a full bladder. Was finally catheterised just before the forceps went in. No pain relief. Fun times. Not nauseous after, just blinded by pain.

C section second time. Was sick after. They said it was the spinal I think. I had a few anti sickness jabs with that one and was fine.

First time round I was absolutely fine, flying high on entonox, up and down off the bed and chatting away and had no problems at all. DC2 was back to back and a very intense induction and I vommed all over the midwife trying to monitor my contractions, then started to shake violently for about ten minutes before refusing to talk tk anyone for hours and then attempting to break my DH's hand and that of one of the midwives. So in my experience there is no normal, but yes, just about anything can happen 😂

Sick on every contraction for a while in first labour. Only actually went into hospital for antiemetic to find I was 5cm. Stopped as soon as started pushing. Vomitted so hard that waters broke. During second labour not sick at all, DH did not believe I was in labour as result!!!

Threw up during and after labour twice!

SeriouslySoDoneIn · 05/05/2020 17:48

As in, with two children. Sick during and after labour with two children. Middle one not so much (but I was rushed off to have a needle jammed in my spine to get over 100 stitches so not so sure I’d count my middle ones labor as any more enjoyable!)

SeriouslySoDoneIn · 05/05/2020 20:12

Just as an after thought though, if you’re feeling nauseous a day or two after giving birth still, give your midwife a call. Particularly if you’re feeling a lot more pain anywhere, and if anything feels hot/inflamed etc

I was sick and vomiting after both of mine were born, had to have injections to calm things down.
I found it hard to hard the baby even, after my second I wasn't able to give him his first bottle, I couldn't hold him properly and enjoy it for a few hours

Yes

Bubblysqueak · 05/05/2020 20:34

I was sick lots, even had one of those cardboard sick catchers floating in the birthing pool with me.
