Shock I thought this was a joke but obviously not. Even if you got on the plane, borders are locked down and it would be refused permission to land.

AnyFucker · 23/04/2020 14:07

Who are you flying with, op ?

gettingusedtothelimelight · 23/04/2020 14:08

I'm due to go to Devon early August and assume that will be banned so as to not increase the number of people potentially needing treatment at their limited number of hospitals.

Lardlizard · 23/04/2020 14:09

EasyJet

I'm not booking anything in advance during 2020.
Fortunately we were tardy in getting around to planning the Canaries for Easter, so we booked a cottage in Wales instead... we now have our money back. Less stressful than dealing with a foreign holiday.

The only vaguely reasonable chance I see is possibly last moment camping in the UK, but I'm not holding my breath on that either. There won't be touristy attractions open anyway.

Other than visiting family, I'm in no rush to leave the UK in 2021 either.

CCaK · 23/04/2020 14:12

But what would you even do when you get there? Sit in doors eating pot noodles? Nowhere is open.

TooTrueToBeGood · 23/04/2020 14:13

Even if flights are not cancelled it doesn't mean anyone will just be allowed to get on them. Both the UK and most other countries are still very much enforcing an essential travel only regime for cross-border travel, if they're allowing any at all.

Figgygal · 23/04/2020 14:14

No chance in fact I don’t think it will be happening all year

AnnofPeeves · 23/04/2020 14:15

Nil. We've got a holiday booked for September and we're fully expecting to have to cancel it.

Lardlizard · 23/04/2020 14:18

Cancelled the apartment ages ago, that was fine as it was one of them
Places you pay for on arrival
So that was sorted via the website no problem

The flights in July
Are to visit family
So wouldn’t really netter that much about getting out and about, If we where allowed to visit them of course !

BendingSpoons · 23/04/2020 14:19

I don't have my Easter EasyJet flights yet, need to try and call again but it's a pain. I was hoping that maybe by May I could go for a walk in the local park with my parents. Hoping, but assuming probably not!

Lardlizard · 23/04/2020 14:19

Bending you should hve done it on the website 7 days before you were due to go

OP posts:
BendingSpoons · 23/04/2020 14:20

Our flights were also to visit family. I don't reckon we will see them before Feb now. Needs to be school holidays and Oct is unlilely.

BendingSpoons · 23/04/2020 14:21

Landlizard they are not making it that easy! You can only get a voucher or change flights, not a refund. There are lots of threads on here about it. Voucher was valid for 6 months, now for 12.

BendingSpoons · 23/04/2020 14:22

Sorry got your name wrong.

Lardlizard · 23/04/2020 14:22

Dh wants to book a long haul trip in Oct, as thinks we should book it now, because he thinks holidays will be the first thing that people rush to book 🧐🧐so I’ve said no as it’s just stressful if we book an expensive holiday in Oct then are worrying will it get cancelled

May and June trips where not that expensive so no major big deal

OP posts:
BendingSpoons · 23/04/2020 14:25

I take it back. They have added a refund option since I looked a few days ago.

20viona · 23/04/2020 14:31

No
Chance

Pedallleur · 23/04/2020 14:35

If you can get a private plane and can go somewhere that will let you in it will be fine. Planes flying empty in the US so just need to get there

user1494055864 · 23/04/2020 14:36

We've just been told by school that the mid July Paris trip is now cancelled.

Ginfordinner · 23/04/2020 14:41

I wouldn't bother trying to book anything for this year just now.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 23/04/2020 14:43

I have a break booked in this country for November and I have come round to thinking that may not happen. May you have absolutely no chance at all.

Fatted · 23/04/2020 14:44

Hahaha oh OP, you are funny

Riverviews · 23/04/2020 14:59

The notification from easyJet cancellations comes 10 days before more or less. I had flights booked to Spain for 2nd May and I got the cancellation message this Monday with instructions on what to do.

Even if you could get there, Spain is not the place to visit this year. For the moment the lockdown is until 10th May. Then we'll see. But in any case, fun things will be closed for s long time and social activities will be very restricted

Somanythingsmakemesad · 23/04/2020 15:10

Cannot believe you even have holidays in your radar for 2020 let alone long haul

Not sure where to start really.

Who knows when we will be able to drive to the next town for a social yet alone fly anywhere.
Why would you want to? There are still people frantic to be repatriated from lots of overseas destinations. The idea of going in the opposite direction out of choice is just bizarre.
What if you get ill out there? Not sure where you were thinking but I've spent time in an Indian hospital and still scarred by it
How would insurance work? No-one is going to cover you
Country quite probably won't allow you in being a plague riddled Brit and all that.
Would you really be happy at an airport or on one of the transport buses, local taxi, restaurant, bar??

That's 6 reasons why I wouldn't even consider it for a nanosecond and I didn't have to think hard at all
