So I have never been a massive exercise addict, but since the lockdown i feel lazier than ever. I do go for a daily walk on most days ( actually that's a lie, maybe on every other day...) and walk to the shop on a sunny day, but with my new found freedom of doing nothing and floating around in my PJ till noon, eating crap, baking and cooking more than during Xmas ; I feel relaxed, happy and fab. When I see people running past my house, I feel even better and do not feel the urge to do exercising at all, instead waching movies and doing some limited housework...very limited as don't want to overdo it at all Wink I might be the laziest women in England and soon to be the fattest.... please tell me I am not on my own and we can form a group once this is all over Wink

Well my slabs of chocolate are quite heavy, if that counts.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 21/04/2020 04:50

I did Joe every day (oo-er missus) in week 1, twice in week 2 and nothing since thenBlush

MrsExpo · 21/04/2020 07:26

My dog is exhausted!! Smile

He has had much longer walks since lockdown, both because i've had time to take him and also to get me out of the house. DH is staying in, so I'm head dog walker (and head everything else!!) and we're extremely fortunate to live in a rural area with access to a huge area of open access heath/woodland which leads onto the environs of a huge reservoir, so linked together I can walk for hours with out seeing a soul.

Other than my daily doggy hikes, my only exercise is a weekly stroll round our nearest supermarket.

Casino218 · 21/04/2020 07:35

I've been too ill. I had started couch to 5 k before getting ill but now I don't have the lung capacity to do it. Would really love to be able to. Roll on that day.

FecktheBoss · 21/04/2020 08:01

What is this exercise that you speak of?

quertyuiop100 · 21/04/2020 08:05

I've actually gone the other way. In normal times I'm a proper lazy bones, but since lockdown I've decided that now is the time to finally kick myself up the arse, get moving and hopefully lose some weight. I walk or do C25K every day and I've been surprised how good it's been for my mental wellbeing.

Work has been shit over the last couple of weeks, so my hour a day just to get away from it all and concentrate on me has done my mental health the world of good and has helped me to relax. Hopefully I've formed some habits that I can continue with once this all ends too.

@TriangleBingoBongo Shock having never seen Joe Wicks, what on earth is he advocating which caused you to prolapse?!?

CoronaIsShit · 21/04/2020 08:35

I’ve gone from a two hour session in the gym (weights and cardio) with a 30 lap swim afterwards 6 days a week to a daily 5km jog which is nowhere near enough as weight is starting to pile on now I’m eating everything in sight due to anxiety and boredom. Really finding it hard to motivate myself to follow a workout video and my weights at home are nowhere near as heavy as what I’d worked up to at the gym.

I feel like shit the less exercise I do and now crumbling disc back pain is coming back as back muscles are breaking down after over a month of no gym! Hate it.

KizzyWayfarer · 21/04/2020 08:39

So this thread about doing no / not much exercise is mostly filled with people happily explaining how they do loads and are really fit...
I’m doing hardly any exercise right now because I’d need to do it when the kids are both safely occupied on screens and I’m using that time to catch up with work and household jobs.
Usually I get my exercise doing the school run (a mile up a hill so 4 miles total some days, and often in a rush!) and walking everywhere else so I’m not super-fit but think I do ok.
I had crappy insomnia last night which I think is related to being sedentary. Running fills me with horror, so I’ll have to find time to walk somehow...

megletthesecond · 21/04/2020 08:42

I'm doing more 😫. A 5 - 30 min HIIT a day. Plus a long walk with the 11yr old and a 5k with the teen. I'm so scared of being ill that I'm trying to keep my cardio strength and vit D up.

TriangleBingoBongo · 21/04/2020 08:42

@EnterFunnyNameHere

It was all the jumping and squatting. My DS is 1 now and I’ve gotten back into fitness, but not that kind of fitness. I think I must have had a prolapse but doing Joe Wicks really messed me up. I managed to get a zoom appt with a woman’s physio and she said Joe Wicks type exercise not ok for women with pelvic disfunction. I didn’t know it was an issue till after. I haven’t ran for three weeks now. Went from half marathon to Zero in 20min Joe Wicks!

sadforthekoalas · 21/04/2020 08:44

I think lockdown shows many people didn’t lack time, as is often the excuse, but discipline
This is me but I also lack enthusiasm

squishedgrapes · 21/04/2020 10:09

Have dumbbells at home, and am using them 3 times a week. Apart from that I'm doing 30 day yoga, and HIIT workouts of fitness blender 3 times a week. For the first couple of weeks of lockdown I was ill, with probably c19, so that knocked me out a bit. I only workout around 20 to 30 minutes each time. I'm finding that my joints are stiff, and I'm less flexible in general, hence the yoga.

billy1966 · 21/04/2020 10:44

I am a super active person, my a sport sometimes 5 times a week, for 1-2 hours and love it.

I have completely downed tools.

Don't want to go out walking as a substitute....so haven't.

Can't explain it, just dont want too.

My extremely disciplined husband does 10 km on the exercise bike and a 5km walk every day...feel shamed by him😔..not that he would say a word to me.

TriangleBingoBongo · 21/04/2020 10:44

@sadforthekoalas

Atleast you’re honest! Grin

Come on, Ladies....... get off the couch and try this - you won't regret it:

Alternatively, if the above is too strenuous, try this:

Dementedma you sound like me, except I do enjoy walking. So that’s what I do. No, it’s not going to make me fit or toned but my aim is more to remain active, a nice 4-6km walk most days which I feel better for doing. Dp says I could work up to going further or faster or run some of it but I just don’t have that mentality!

differentnameforthis · 21/04/2020 11:22

I have a zoom meet with my PT three days a week...

I have only been on my "get fitter" journey for a few months, and not stopping it now.

Flynn999 · 21/04/2020 11:57

I'm completely the other way op. I've done 10000 steps already, been out for a 5k walk with ds (3) through the woods and I'm contemplating doing the 30 day shred exercise video later on. Dp wants a takeaway tonight I'm contemplating something nice and healthy Blush

Just polished of a salad, and currently having a nice cold glass of water.

I'm doing on average 15-18000 steps a day. I physically can't spend the whole day indoors.

wouldyouadamandeveit · 21/04/2020 12:04

I'm envious, I'm still working (albeit from home), doing longer hours due to the industry I work in, and apart from walking the dog at lunchtime, I'm just sat in front of a laptop all day! I'd love to do C to 5 k again, but the lunchtime walks is my daily outside exercise.

madcatladyforever · 21/04/2020 12:05

I can't even be bothered to go out for a walk. But then I do go out to work full time in the NHS so I am knackered when I get home.

Flynn999 · 21/04/2020 12:06

@TriangleBingoBongo I think people do tend to lack the time to exercise. I'm normally not back from work till 5:30, then it's pick up toddler, sort his tea then bath and bed for him. It's 7pm before he goes to bed then I need to sort out things for work the next day, so do pack lunches, make sure clothes are ready, sort out dishwasher, laundry, tidy up toys etc, it's often 8pm before I've properly sat down and I tend to go to bed about 10pm then back up about 6am. It's hard to fit in the exercise. During lockdown we have the whole day to do exercise and we've had no rushing around, we've had the chance to go for nice leisurely walks. Definitely something we want to continue as a family.

The weekend normally is really the only time to do things as a family, see relatives etc, so going to the gym or for a walk eats into a big chunk of that time. I think it's easier to do exercise in the summer (longer days, better weather etc). Does make me wonder what lockdown would be like if it was winter and the weather was rubbish!

Bargainhuntbore · 21/04/2020 12:06

I still do. I run every day, often more than 5k but last night I went for 10 miles. Running us what i do but i cal also walk for miles.
