Anyone else getting a lot of headaches lately?

OldEvilOwl · 16/04/2020 15:30

I've been off work for 2 weeks now after my workplace closed down temporarily due to Covid 19. Since the last week in work I've been having headaches almost everyday. At first I put it down to stress, and not being able to sleep properly, and maybe not drinking enough water.

I don't feel particularly stressed now I'm at home though, but still waking up regularly at 3am and not being able to get back to sleep. It's not excruciating, but always just 'there'. It was there when I went to bed, and it's still there in the morning. Any ideas? Or anyone else experiencing similar?

I have a headache quite often but I've put mine down to anxiety.

I'm definitely clenching my jaw more as well.

Thighmageddon · 16/04/2020 15:43

I do, it's really low level anxiety. Not enough to bring on the anxiety symptoms I've had previously and needed medication but enough to make me feel very slightly jittery.

Legoandloldolls · 16/04/2020 15:53

Me but I think its stress mainly. Also being out of routine, going to bed later, waking later, drinking less, less quality exercise.

I think I need to get back into better routine and less news late at night.

Try pain killers for a entire day as it could be a low level migraine which you need to switch off. So lots of water. Painkillers, then half a hour after taking a dose try a brisk cut not not strenuous walk. Drink more then another pain killer even if you think it's gone.

If it's a migraine type of headache they need action to switch them off. Like painkiller, water then a nap. But if its stress you need to address the constant low level stress too. Exercise is a good distraction for the body but dont over do it.

It might sound daft but I do find that if feel a bit out of breath or my leg aches from a brisk walk my brain gets distracted. All the the time you aware of the pain, it wont shift so try to distract or switch it off. Just stops the cycle

Yep. Thought it was migraines from the sun, but all week.

Ilikefresias · 16/04/2020 19:11

Yes, anxiety related I think

Springcatkin · 16/04/2020 19:14

Me and ds plus I am getting odd weird chest pains. Previously the doc said the chest pains were anxiety related even tho I am not normally anxious and dont actually feel it now. Must be there I guess

Aaaahhhndrea · 16/04/2020 19:18

Me, but it's screen time and being indoors for so long.

Windyatthebeach · 16/04/2020 19:20

springydaff · 16/04/2020 19:26

Yes, constant. Not severe bout always there

I've finally come to the conclusion it's plain old stress. I'm gritting my teeth, as I often do in times of awful stress. I doubt I'm breathing properly because I've noticed my body is tense, braced and ready. No wonder I've got a headache.

OvaHere · 16/04/2020 19:27

Caffeine withdrawal? A lot of people drink more coffee and tea whilst at work. Headaches are often a side effect if your usual amount has dropped.

Mendeleev · 16/04/2020 19:30

Yes, me too. No real stress or anxiety. Often starts in the early evening.

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 16/04/2020 19:36

Watch your caffeine intake - without the usual routine of having a cup of yea before you go out or when you come in or to take into that meeting or whatever it can reduce and a caffeine withdrawal headache is awful, no painkiller can touch it.

Ridiculousradish · 16/04/2020 19:37

I had a low level headache for about 3 weeks, started 2 weeks before we went into Lockdown. Paracetamol just took the edge off. Was utterly exhausted too. That's not all that unusual (single Mum), but I was getting into bed when I got back from work as I had zero energy.

Shockers · 16/04/2020 19:45

My jaw is really clenched. I try to consciously relax it when I notice it, but I’ve already snapped a tooth.

OldEvilOwl · 16/04/2020 20:16

Hi thanks for all the replies. I think it must be anxiety. I often can feel my heart really pumping in my chest, even when im just lying in bed. Its strange as i dont feel particulary anxious, but i am finding it difficult to sleep so i suppose i must be.

Not caffiene related as i only have one cup of tea a day, sometimes none. I will try and get myself into a better routine and see if that helps me.

It helps to know im not the only one, thankyou so much, it makes me feel better just knowing what it is

I find that sometimes I'm forgetting to drink water at home; I tend to do so more when I'm out and about. I had a very bad headache yesterday.

springydaff · 16/04/2020 20:57

I think this situation is so unprecedented we are clenched against it. It goes beyond our understanding, a primal response to threat.

I think our primal brain picks up a lot we're unaware of eg the thread about facing threatening situating we are unaware of but our primal brain picks it up and reacts, our understanding lagging behind.

Good old primal brain! Except in this instance it's causing cracked back teeth and headaches.

Can't win them all. It's a very real threat after all.

Bubblysqueak · 16/04/2020 20:59

I've been suffering with headaches and hayfever. I've been taking antihistamines and it's been helping to clear headache too.

springydaff · 16/04/2020 21:03

I've wondered if it's (late onset!!) hay fever!

psychedelephant · 16/04/2020 21:07

Before cv dh and I kept waking with hangoverish headaches and nausea, in fact I bought a carbon monoxide detector just in case. End of Feb there was a headachey bug going around among friends/neighbours. Some of us had it for three weeks, it was the sort of thing that seemed to get better and then come back again.

ssd · 16/04/2020 21:08

I've been trying to up my fluid intake as I think my morning headache is caused by not drinking enough water. At work I try to keep drinking but now I'm furloughed I'm sitting around and forgetting to drink.

Maybe it's that op.

Well that and the total stress of everything..

CurbsideProphet · 16/04/2020 21:09

Yes constant tension headache and a pulse in my right eye that comes and goes.

ssd · 16/04/2020 21:10

I use solpadeine max soluble. They are great, just 2 in a glass of water takes my dull headache away.

catlovingdoctor · 16/04/2020 21:11

I'm prone to them when I'm bored and don't have a good sleep schedule, so have been getting them frequently lately.

maa1992 · 16/04/2020 21:12

Yes!! I posted over having a migraine and I've had a headache everyday since. This isn't normal for me, rarely get headaches
