Spooky parcel, in my maiden name of 15 years gone. Can someone unpick the mystery?

And not my maiden name that I had before I got married either. The actual name I have on my birth certificate that I haven't seen written in over 15 years, and haven't seen anywhere beyond my birth cert.

I've seen that someone else in Mumsnet today has had something odd sent to them too and they're unaware yet who's sent it. I don't have Alexa though

The package contains a tube of conception plus (it's a lube to help TTC). No amazon history saying I've ordered it. And I don't really use amazon anyway.

For reasons I won't go into, we are sticking with just one DC sad

Is this some sort of cruel trick from someone we know, do you think?

Was the package from Amazon?

Trapordo · 12/04/2020 21:45

Yes was amazon x

My cousin has had really odd things sent to her from Amazon that are in her name but not on her amazon account. I can't remember what they were but it's happened twice now and both were random low value objects that she would never order.

It's odd. I wouldn't buy this item either. It's worth about £8

Possibly just a massive coincidence. Someone with a similar address to yours happens to have the surname and initial (was it an initial?) that you had on your birth certificate. Is there an account number or something on the delivery note? You could compare that with your own Amazon account number?

mommybear1 · 12/04/2020 21:54

Contact amazon find out how it was paid for that should give you a link.

SuperSunFlower · 12/04/2020 21:54

I've orders things on eBay and they have come via Amazon with correct name etc. Means the seller maybe has a shop through amazon and the shippings cheaper or the item was cheaper on amazon so seller made some money instead of actually having item.
My DH thinks that to do this the seller has soft wear to sort out all the name and address instead of doing it manually. Perhaps a mixup that way?

Trapordo · 12/04/2020 21:55

Both name and surname match. No initialds so seems unlikely. My address is fskgly unique but I suppose it could happen.

Not checked account numbers against each other

Yogawoogie · 12/04/2020 21:57

Does it have an invoice in the parcel? Maybe contact the seller?

Trapordo · 12/04/2020 21:58

It's a gift receipt type invoice. It has sellers details

Is your maiden name unusual?

Trapordo · 12/04/2020 22:00

No but not a common spelling of it

There's a scam I don't understand. Whereby things are sent to you and they can then use it to put a comment or stars against it.

I'd change your amazon password but amazon don't seem to care

Ostanovka · 12/04/2020 22:02

Did you live at your current address when you last used the name?

LooseleafTea · 12/04/2020 22:04

I would ask Amazon who sent it. I once had a pad arrive that was unexpected and with a message on it that sounded potentially malicious but it turned out it was just a mistake .
I hope you can get an answer

Ullupullu · 12/04/2020 22:05

A scam involving an old Amazon gift list of some kind? Someone accessing your account?

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/04/2020 22:06

Did you ever have an amazon account in that name?

CurbsideProphet · 12/04/2020 22:07

This doesn't account for the use of your original birth name, but have you bought anything online recently and been scammed? I once received a random package of magazines sent to me that I had to sign for. We had bought something on eBay, but this item never arrived. The seller claimed that we had received it, as we had signed for this package of magazines. It was a scam to advertise a fake item, take the money, then just send out some magazines signed for in its place.

Watertorture · 12/04/2020 22:09

Is there anyone who crassly thinks you are unable to get pg and is trying to pass on their magic cure?

Trapordo · 12/04/2020 22:13

No. New to the address. Was a child last time I used that name so no accounts in they name Sad

Amazon seem to be mixing up a lot of orders at the moment, try not to read too much into it, otherwise you will drive your self crazy.

ShyTown · 12/04/2020 22:14

We randomly got a delivery of dishwasher tablets from Amazon that we hadn’t ordered. We order from them A LOT, even before lock down we used their whole foods delivery for the bulk of our grocery shopping (not UK), have all household essentials subscribed etc. but definitely didn’t order these dishwasher tablets and we asked amazon via chat who said it was an error and to keep them. It’s definitely an appreciated cock up given how much more our dishwasher is running right now! Yours seems creepier but maybe it’s a similar mistake and there isn’t any more to it?!

ShyTown · 12/04/2020 22:15

I agree it’s weird that you don’t actually have an amazon account in that name though.

SambaMamba · 12/04/2020 22:17

Have you contacted amazon

Savoretti · 12/04/2020 22:20

Could it be your parents trying to hint? They would know your original name and obviously up to date address
