I loved the Magic Robot.

Also a newspaper board game called "SCOOP!"

I loved my shaker maker - that cute wee cat!

ClapForCats · 07/04/2020 16:20

You can still buy Scoop!

(The exclamation mark is implicit and essential.)

I worked for a real journalist some year and bought it for him.

he was thrilled

Less a toy,but more a con - Sea Monkeys ! You send off for a little packet of dust to pour into water and leave it for weeks until chucking the manky water away.
Or what about the MasterMind board game - WTF what that about ?
Less childhood - but how shite are those four piece jigsaws i see in charity shops - just who did they appeal to ?

ivfbabymomma1 · 07/04/2020 16:22

Definitely mr frosty!

And a robot dog thing which I thought would be like having a real dog but it just walked in a straight line and did nothing 😕

Sproutpie · 07/04/2020 16:25

Warm Bake Oven. You had to cook vile cakes using the steam from hot water. I got this the same Christmas I got Mr Frosty. Shitty days!

Batshittery · 07/04/2020 16:29

Buckaroo. Pile of shite. It didn't help that an hour after opening it, my brother stood on the saddle and broke it. That's that then Grin

WhatsGoingOn3 · 07/04/2020 16:32

Omg, I was literally thinking about the game Scoop! yesterday-I used to love that game! Me and my sisters also had the Allo Allo board game which we played loads growing up....I attempted to play it again a few years ago-rubbish....

CakeHoleinRoof · 07/04/2020 16:35

Another one deprived of mr frosty, what was so shit about it?
@bananaskinsnomnom How did baby all gone work? What did the spoon do?

TheSultanofPingu · 07/04/2020 16:44

God Etch a sketch was boring.
Stylophone, even using the vibrato setting it was crap.

TheCatBar · 07/04/2020 16:53

Ahhh the joys of skaker maker and drying it in the airing cupboard.
Every Christmas my nan used to buy me a bubble bath with a decapitated head as a stopper 😱

PorpentinaScamander · 07/04/2020 16:53

@CakeHoleinRoof the cherries disappeared inside the spoon handle when you 'fed' them to the baby. Then came back out when you put the spoon in the cherry pot.

Surely 4 piece puzzles are for very small children? Good for hand eye coordination and motor skills or something?

Hama beads are great! We have mini ones somewhere. Might dig them out for a lockdown activity!

PorpentinaScamander · 07/04/2020 16:56

Just remembered, I bought ds2 a Baby Born for his 2nd birthday. I excitedly showed him how the baby went to sleep when you put his dummy in. He spent a couple of mins putting the dummy in and out of babys mouth then said in a disappointed voice "it's a magnet" Sad. He was never fooled by those 'magic' bottles where the milk /juice disappears either

TheEndIsBillNighy · 07/04/2020 17:00

Does anyone remember the game Dream Phone?

I’m another one who was denied a Mr Frosty - it’s still a running family joke that I never received one!

ArbitraryNameChange · 07/04/2020 17:01

Anything for Sindy - a swimming pool that was shorter than she was? A house in which she couldn't stand up in the rooms? Pile of (expensive) shite.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 07/04/2020 17:02

RunningWoman I loved family tree. Mouse Trap on the other hand? felt like it took hours to put together and then the trap never worked!

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 07/04/2020 17:03

Oh and Buckaroo, so much potential, was complete shite.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/04/2020 17:03

I love buckaroo and mouse trap!

SpicedCamomile · 07/04/2020 17:04

Was Dream Phone the one where random fictional boys called you up for dates Bill? My friend had it.
I loved my ViewMaster. I had the film that came with it, with landscapes and Disney film stills, and I shelled out my pocket money for a Dr Who one as well. Peter Davison (Davidson?).
What I really wanted and was never given was a Visionary - they were like plastic robot soldiers but with a hologram on their chest and the ad went "Visionaries!Knights of the magical light!"

SpicedCamomile · 07/04/2020 17:07

This was my DC not me, but the worst toy they had was the elephant that shoots bits of paper into the air and you have to catch them. He never managed more than a feeble wheeze and the bits of paper/ butterflies would hover slightly above the trunk and then fall down the trunk again.

RonnieBarkingMad · 07/04/2020 17:12

Speaking of Mouse Trap does anyone remember the real life TV kids show, complete with a giant replica of the trap? I think it was on CITV Smile

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 07/04/2020 17:13

I never had a Sindy, or Mr.Frosty, girls world hair thing, a baby doll or anything like that.
The only toy I remember was a kaleidoscope, which I really loved.

Namechange8471 · 07/04/2020 17:18

Yes I loved my funfax!!!!!!

Hormonecrazyhell · 07/04/2020 17:22

Prolly pocket

ofwarren · 07/04/2020 17:23

@RonnieBarkingMad I loved that show!
