Wrapping paper help

Can anyone suggest anywhere online I can get wrapping paper for my DDs birthday?

Card shops are either closed or only selling a few products.
Amazon are crazy prices for the only suitable papers I’ve found and on eBay the only suitable papers the sellers are listed as away with no return date.
I’ve tried google but that’s not coming up with anything suitable.

We’ve got a large b&m in town but I wanted to avoid going to a shop for non essentials.

Tin foil or brown paper with ribbon?

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 10:02

Thanks @SummerintoAutumn but by the time I buy brown paper and ribbon and pay delivery I might as well pay for the expensive amazon paper
I’m trying to keep it cheap as I’ve had to take unpaid leave but still wanted her presents to be bright and pretty to make up for it just being the 2 of us

How are you getting your shopping? All our local supermarkets have small packs of wrapping paper, more expensive but better than nothing Smile

ps1991 · 06/04/2020 10:03

The supermarket? Tie it in with your weekly shop

okiedokieme · 06/04/2020 10:04

Supermarkets sell wrapping paper

astropoodle · 06/04/2020 10:04

Have you got any nice fabric in the house ?you could even make use of outgrown clothes if need be, cut the size you need and tack the edges or iron an edge with wonder web.

Oliphantitus · 06/04/2020 10:04

Wrap it in a pillow case or a nice scarf. They rip it off for the pressie. I have done this, it looked great and less waste and free.

JoeExotic · 06/04/2020 10:05

Same problem here and our sainsburys have been out for weeks!

SquitMcJit · 06/04/2020 10:05

Do you have any pieces of material that you could tie them up in?

Or if you really can’t find any paper, how about hiding them around the house instead with a set of clues to follow (then it wouldn’t matter so much that they weren’t wrapped)?

daisypond · 06/04/2020 10:05

Supermarket

NancyJoan · 06/04/2020 10:06

Paperchase will have it, but you'll have to pay delivery.

Blackdog19 · 06/04/2020 10:06

I had same problem. I gave in and bought from amazon.

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 10:08

We’ve got nothing in at all, typically I’d just had a clear out and given all DDs old clothes to a relative and another bundle of stuff to a charity shop

I’d did a huge months shop 10 days ago because I thought I was going to be working and not able to get to the shops so don’t need to shop for probably another 3 weeks. Also don’t really want to have to take DD with me to a supermarket

I just thought I’d be able to get wrapping paper online and now feel rubbish that I can’t even wrap her little pile of presents up

John Lewis have some - including some nice patterned tissue paper. It is £3.50 for standard delivery though, so I appreciate it’s expensive.

daisypond · 06/04/2020 10:13

Newspaper will be fine if you just want to wrap presents. I like the treasure hunt idea upthread.

GreenTulips · 06/04/2020 10:15

FB see if anyone has some stashed away

SquitMcJit · 06/04/2020 10:16

How old is your daughter?

Anewuser · 06/04/2020 10:17

Try Lisaangel.co.uk
They’ve got wrapping paper and always free delivery too.

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 10:20

Might ask on Facebook thanks for the suggestion, all my friends have boys but someone in our local group might be able to help
Otherwise will have to pay for the expensive stuff somewhere and put it on the credit card, god knows when I’ll be able to pay it off though

Why not colour some eg a4 pages and use that?

daisypond · 06/04/2020 10:25

You really don’t need to buy wrapping paper. Don’t put it on a credit card if it’s an unnecessary expense.

EdithWeston · 06/04/2020 10:27

Try your local convenience store

Or pillowcase with ribbon/tinsel tied round it

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/04/2020 10:28

Don't get in debt for wrapping paper, just use newspaper or you could get a roll of sparkly wall paper and use that.

Or get a roll of lining paper (about £4) get Dd to spend an afternoon painting it and do some potato prints then use that as wrapping paper.
