What age did your turn the buggy to be world facing?

Just wondering when you turned the buggy to be world facing instead of parent facing & did it make any difference?
LO is 15 months and still parent facing but he's quite happy so not sure if I should flip him round or wait until he shows signs he's bored??

About 5 months old! We varied it but it was great because ds would whine if he could see me but be happy if not. (We did plenty of talking and interaction at home/in the sling)

stargirl1701 · 04/04/2020 21:47

Never did. I kept it parent facing until we stopped using it. Stokke.

powershowerforanhour · 04/04/2020 21:48

When they were old enough to go from the lie-flat pram to the buggy.

(Both times made me think of Maggie Gyllenhaal's character in "Away We Go" Grin).

I never had a parent facing buggy - I used an Out N About Sport from birth.

Sandsnake · 04/04/2020 22:07

5 months or so, I think. He went from absolutely hating the pushchair to really quite liking it. He must have just hated my face!Wink

FriedasCarLoad · 04/04/2020 22:10

17 month old will walk about 1.5 Miles at a time, and we have a car if it's further than that each way, so she's not often in the pram.

Still parent-facing when she is though - I want to be able to chat with her, and unless it's raining heavily, she can still see plenty.

adagio · 04/04/2020 22:10

I liked chatting with mine, and they never complained so kept them parent facing -then once we had 2 kids and the biggest was on the buggy board they liked to chat to each more than me 😁😂

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/04/2020 22:12

DS1 we kept him parent facing until we switched to a mclaren permanently. Maybe 18 months?

DS2 we turned him world facing today at just over 6 months. He would much rather watch his brother running around than me!

PippinStar · 04/04/2020 22:18

6 months, he loved it and now hates parent facing 😂

Floobydoodoo · 04/04/2020 23:21

Never - they both stayed parent facing until they stopped using a pushchair.

LovingLola · 04/04/2020 23:23

About 16 months

SallyLovesCheese · 04/04/2020 23:27

Just done it, DS is 15 months. I wanted him facing me for as long as possible for the language skills but recently DS has seemed frustrated at not being able to see much. He really likes facing out now; he can get a good look at everything around. Even if there's not much out there atm. He always leans forwards and holds the bar and looks totally engrossed. We'll manage language skills another way!

screwcovid19 · 04/04/2020 23:32

12 months

Ozgirl75 · 04/04/2020 23:32

Mine was about 7 months as he would just crane his neck around the whole time to see where we were going Grin. Same in the baby carrier.

Ozgirl75 · 04/04/2020 23:34

Oh and he is now 9 years old and has ridiculously good language skills. It’s not like this is the only time you talk to your child.

Stet · 04/04/2020 23:41

About 10/11 months. DD loves watching what the dog is doing when we go for walks! And also playing peekaboo through the window in the hood Grin

megletthesecond · 04/04/2020 23:41

About 1 month. When I realised the travel seat was dead bulky and he was happier flat in the 3 wheeler watching the world go by.

SamsMumsCateracts · 04/04/2020 23:45

DS1, now 7, was rear facing in the buggy until about a year and a half, unless we were using the umbrella fold. I still feel guilty about DS2, now 5, though. He went straight into a "from birth" umbrella double buggy, so never rear faced. He doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects though and quite enjoyed babbling to DS1 who was sitting next to him. I would have preferred himfacing me, but we had what we could afford at the time.

caoraich · 04/04/2020 23:54

DD is 17 months and still parent facing. She likes pointing at things and always wants to show me what she has seen which I like. She has a smaller forward facing one and tries to lean round backwards to see me and give me a commentary on the cats/ trees / random leaves she has seen Grin

We do now have a structured backpack which I like a lot better and she loves as she can see loads and can pat me on the head to make sure I'm paying attention too. I use it most of the time now unless I need the basket of the buggy, would totally recommend

SpangledPandemonium · 04/04/2020 23:55

Think DD was about 9 months. It was unintentional but had to use a forward facing pushchair at my mum's. Will never forget DD's delight! It was as though she was on a roller coaster. She laughed and babbled at every one we passed. They had to laugh back at her. She loved it. Mixed it up after that.

TerrorWig · 05/04/2020 00:52

My twins were never parent facing. DS3 was about 8, maybe 9 months I think? He was so close to walking and hated the buggy but absolutely needed it. Facing outwards gave me a bit of a reprieve before he started walking at 10 months.

Honestly don't think it makes a difference, especially when they're toddlers.

MushroomTree · 05/04/2020 08:05

From birth. I didn't have a travel system and my pushchair is only world facing and lays flat. DD never complained, but then she's nosy and wants to know what's going on in the world Grin

KellyHall · 05/04/2020 08:09

When dd started straining to look past me, around, etc so it was clear she wanted to see the world. Unfortunately we also changed pushchairs so when she got old enough to converse and wanted to look at me again she couldn't, we have lots of stops now!

Drivemybluecar · 05/04/2020 08:53

Wow. Things have changed from 16 years ago. Is there a reason to keep them forward facing.

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 05/04/2020 09:01

Never did parent facing after we stopped using the pram top (at just overer 5 months). Buggy didn't have the option to and tbh it wasn't something we felt strongly about. Our partners didn't have parent facing buggies for us and we turned out fine!
