What age did your turn the buggy to be world facing?

Just wondering when you turned the buggy to be world facing instead of parent facing & did it make any difference?
LO is 15 months and still parent facing but he's quite happy so not sure if I should flip him round or wait until he shows signs he's bored??

8 months, all three of them were bending round to see anything but me!

If he's happy at 15 months then leave it.

As soon as he was old enough to start using a buggy! I think he was about 5 or 6 months old. I waited till he could sit up independently.

At the time, buggies didn't have the facility for changing the way they faced. There was no lie-back option either. They were just a bit of stripey plastic sewn onto an umbrella-fold frame to make a seat shape!

We used a McClaren on holiday and DS1 then screamed the house down when we got home and he was facing me. About 8 months old...he was furious. DDad laughed his socks off and said I’d been the same 30 years previously (pram to buggy).

About 5 months I think.

Pentium85 · 05/04/2020 10:27

Around 9-10 months

DontRockTheB0at · 06/04/2020 17:08

Kept her facing me until aged 3 when she was too heavy for the pram (Stokke) and we got an Out & About Nipper instead.

DinosApple · 06/04/2020 17:20

From birth 😂. A lie flat maclaren buggy.
Tbh she was mostly in the sling until around 3 -4 months. She loved looking out at the world.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 06/04/2020 17:30

From the moment DD could hold her head up reliably. She absolutely hated being parent facing and loved looking out at the world. DS was probably about 5 months or so.

Minai · 06/04/2020 18:19

Ds1 was parent facing until about 16 months. Ds2 was never parent facing as I had 2 under 2 and the double buggy we got had no parent facing option. Doesn’t seem to have done him any harm. He’s a very communicative and social little chap at 15 months so I doubt it makes a huge amount of difference!

Unknown2020 · 06/04/2020 19:04

DS probably about 1 year and DD around 5 months as she’s super nosey and loves people watching!

Millie2013 · 06/04/2020 19:07

Maybe 5 months, DD was a nosy madam (still is, to be fair)

ShyTown · 06/04/2020 19:10

Babyzen YoYo here that couldn’t parent face post newborn. Never had any complaints from DD.

EyeDrops · 06/04/2020 19:28

DD2, about 10/11 months when she started trying to climb out of the seat to turn and see where we were going. I can't remember with DD1!

thunderthighsohwoe · 06/04/2020 19:36

At about 5 months; she used to cling to the belly bar and try to turn herself around to see what was going on. She’s 16mo now and still sits right forward holding onto the bar so she can name all the random things she is seeing (mainly sticks, but pronounce with a d 🤦🏻‍♀️)

NannyR · 06/04/2020 19:41

They will probably let you know when they want to face forward, by constantly craning their head round to see what's going on.runs
The two year old I look after, forward faced in her buggy at about 12 months, I did turn it back to face me about 18 months as I was a bit concerned about her language development and she was spending a lot of time in the pram every day - probably around two hours with school runs, I thought it would be better from a speech and language point of view if she could see me face to face.I
She's more or less out of the buggy now but when we do use it she often asks me to turn the seat round backwards so we can "facetime", which I find quite cute!

scrivette · 06/04/2020 19:47

My 28 month is still rear facing but she is only in it on the school run and occasional shopping trip.

NamechangeOnceMore · 06/04/2020 19:47

My eldest was 5 months, and loved it. My youngest has been world-facing since birth as our double buggy doesn't have a parent-facing option. I didn't realise this was a Thing; my children don't spend much time in the buggy, and I talk to them lots at home, so I'd be very surprised if it did them any harm.

LittleLittleLittle · 06/04/2020 19:52

She started using a buggy at 4 months and was never parent facing. Half the time she was in a wrap/sling/carrier anyway.

At 19 months she has verbal diarrhea and demands to walk everywhere.

HannibalOnaHeffalump · 06/04/2020 19:54

Always had my children facing away. They knew what their dopey parents looked like and wanted to see the world!

Equimum · 06/04/2020 19:55

We never had a parent-facing buggy. I mostly carried ours when they were tiny, or they were in the prank unit, so probably from around 4-5 ninety when they went into the buggy.
