Aaargh THE ITCHING EYES!!! Anyone else got hayfever?

I posted about this recently because I suspected my new puppy of giving me allergy symptoms, but OMFG the itching burning eyes!! They're driving me mental.

I have no idea if it's the puppy or tree pollen or what, as I've never had any allergy like this in my life - I'm 47, I've never suffered with hayfever and I had a dog previously for 12 years with no problems. It started out as one slightly itchy eye, a constantly runny nose, itching in my mouth, and dry itchy skin on my face and belly (actually a slightly bumpy rash). Now I have all of that, but I just want to claw both eyes out with the itching. It won't stop!

I have antihistamines but they are in a distant cupboard, and if I move now I'm going to wake the puppy down beside me - the little fucker has only just gone off to sleep after what seems like hours of overtired biteyness. While I summon up the energy to face disturbing the sabre-toothed knobhead, if it's tree pollen why is it bothering me most indoors, at night, with the windows closed? Is that a thing? I know nothing about hayfever.

I'm lucky that I haven't needed to leave the house (silver lining) so even though it's a very bad tree pollen year I'm no worse than normal. I can't use the west facing rooms though as they get hot in the sunshine and I can't open the window. I've ordered some mesh anti-pollen screens for the windows so when they arrive I can open a window and enjoy some fresh air.

My GP also has tree pollen hay fever and about 6 years ago she prescribed Drynol which is what she uses and it's immensely much better than the over the counter stuff and it doesn't make me sleepy.

I have utilised my full arsenal of anti-allergy tools today - and thank goodness, the fexofenadine seems to have done the trick!

I had a very very mild wheezy cough for about 30 minutes first thing, but apart from that the dreaded itchy streaming eyes have finally improved.

Mighty relieved.

@BuzzShitbagBobbly

Thanks I have only just seen this and have now ordered 9 lots. We also buy in bulk as a 30 packet will only last 2 weeks as we double drop Grin

DS has started to mention he is getting a bit itch sneezy so when he joins in we will need loads

OP you will probabl have it forever but it will wax and wane.

Mine got worse each year until one year I was in Italy and our hotel room overlook a pine tree wooded cliff. I was in agony for days and couldn't leave the hotel for a day or so as I was constantly sneezing, eyes streaming the lot. The worse I had ever had it.

I then never had it for a few years then came back and has never left. Some years it worse. Yesterday I had a banging head due to my sinuses being 'full'. It has that lovely effect when the pollen has been high

Antihistamine eye drops work really well for me. Better than tablets for itchy eyes. Available otc.
