Is basically a group of mates getting drunk together via Skype....and there's nothing wrong with that Smile

AppleKatie does he watch her new daily show?
i want people to like it if only because tehy have tried.i agree with what pp have said but i have so much affection that they even gave it a go i dont want them to get slammed for it on sm.i imagine twitter is being evil bastards as per
tv and comfort is huge for people right now so i applaud the effor tthey amade in giving it a go because they must have known it wouldnt be the same.
i was live with rochelle humes and gok gwon and romesh at the same time though!

BreconBeBuggered · 03/04/2020 23:45

I felt The Mash Report worked better as an ensemble production with each performer working in isolation. Not just because of the format of the show; it looked more polished to me.

Wheresthebeach · 03/04/2020 23:56

I’m really glad they did it. Sure it was clunky, and the lack of an audience changes the atmosphere massively but good its happening.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/04/2020 00:03

I loved it.

It was exactly what we need.... Keep on keeping on

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/04/2020 00:06

And another Steph fan here

LargeGinOnTap · 04/04/2020 00:11

The only thing that was missing was an audience clapping. It was a bit awkward at times.

But I on the whole liked it and it was typical BBC keep calm and carry on.
I think they might tweak it somehow next week.
I feel if the public whinge to much about tv for the foreseeable future , it will be repeats of the Good Life, Micheal Palin travelogues and the like. And UKTV channels but without the ads

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/04/2020 00:14

And I totally loved the fact that we got the "mate moments" that we dont normally see, with them all laughing at each others gags.

BreconBeBuggered · 04/04/2020 00:27

I liked the more relaxed approach to swearing.

Runnerduck34 · 04/04/2020 10:12

It grew on me, at first I thought it stilted , that the banter didn't flow and it needed an audience to bounce off but gradually i found myself relaxing and getting into it , it made me laugh and gave light relief which was very welcome!

LargeGinOnTap · 04/04/2020 10:39

I like being nosey and getting a glimpse into various houses

SnowStag · 04/04/2020 10:55

Just watched it in iplayer and really enjoyed it. It felt like most of my work zoom meetings at work this week. Very realxed and intimate and all in it together.

I hope they keep it up!

DarkDarkNight · 04/04/2020 11:01

I enjoyed it on the whole. Yes it was a bit stilted at times but it’s hard to have the comedy flow when they’re not in the same room. It’s not as immediate.

I love Paul though. Paused a few times to try to spot some of the films on his shelf. I knew he liked films, and had done some documentaries about old Hollywood, so was quite interested to spot what else he had.

SwerfandTurf · 04/04/2020 11:04

It was sweet. Some of the old formula like the final one-liners don’t work without an audience. Works better just with them chit chatting.

MedusasButterDish · 04/04/2020 11:15

I think they ought to have done a laugh track from when the lawyers watched it. Grin

Duchessofblandings · 04/04/2020 11:16

Thought Steph was brilliant.

Dogsaresomucheasier · 04/04/2020 11:20

I wonder if there will be a gogglebox version, that could be interesting.

averythinline · 04/04/2020 11:24

It got better - whether that was the gin or them relaxing into it... or the editor pulling it together - impressed with them not wfh in pajamas :)

MarmotMorning · 04/04/2020 11:25

I liked that it seemed less scripted than the studio version.

PigletJohn · 04/04/2020 11:42

I only saw Hislop with a glass?

though Jupp looked flushed, I thought it was a skin problem.

AppleKatie · 04/04/2020 13:10

Jupp looked awkward and a bit uncomfortable throughout.

Which is fair enough he was essentially hiding in a room of his house whilst his kids ran riot the other side of the door.

DGRossetti · 04/04/2020 13:14

You would have thought (well, I did) that it would have been the work of a few seconds to knock up some sort of projector-screen type backdrop for the panellists, so that it looked a little less amateur ?

Once they have the sound sorted. Which, if they are going to be broadcasting from the same room every time should be fairly straightforward to create some sort of EQ to level it out ?

I wonder how many business conference calls will take tips from seeing how the pros do it ? Vanishingly few I imagine.

JudyCoolibar · 04/04/2020 13:17

How would having a different background make any difference at all? The point is what the participants are doing and saying, not the background.

DGRossetti · 04/04/2020 13:38

How would having a different background make any difference at all?

Just look a bit more ... snazzy ? Also it would lessen the "jump" from panellist to panellist. Only floating suggestions ... this is clearly a new art form, but if it's going to be here for a while if not forever, I'm sure there can and will be tweaks.

But please - the sound first.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 13:45

Presumably the panellists had to set it up themselves though and didn't have a team come in with a bucket load of equipment

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 04/04/2020 14:23

Loved it
But then anything to get my weird shag Hislop fix
Blush
