What’s the one thing that’s kept your (younger) kids occupied during this time?

Best thing you’ve done / own / etc to keep your kids from getting bored throughout lockdown?

Mine would probably be garden climbing frame or Lego!

A swing and slide set, although DS can't quite do the slide steps so I'm having to lift him every time!

IamChipmunk · 03/04/2020 11:04

Garden set here to! Has a playhouse climbing bit, slide and swings.
My dm got it for the kids last year and im so glad. They go out every day multiple times. It really has been a godsend.

Toy digger outside and our empty veg patch. And the dog has practically turned into Nana from Peter Pan.

Indoor mini trampoline, used all the time but more honestly the iPad is probably used more

TwoKidsStillStanding · 03/04/2020 11:33

Trampoline, and icing biscuits and fairy cakes. Also cutting out said biscuits!

We’ve also got a lot of mileage out of drawing and painting.

HeyMac · 03/04/2020 11:34

Getting out really early in the morning and making them cycles miles

Whitelisbon · 03/04/2020 11:42

Disney+
The gardens been used too, but its been wet every day and it's still freezing, so doors open and kids running in and out isn't ideal!
We have a child who is being shielded, so no walks, or bike rides, or anything.
Disney+ has been a godsend, they're all watching finding Nemo just now, and have planned for finding dory afterwards.

Babymamaroon · 03/04/2020 11:49

Older kids, games and bouncy castle

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/04/2020 12:08

9 year old goalposts and trampoline

14 year old treadmill and exercise bike

42 year old (DH) laptop

Mintjulia · 03/04/2020 12:15

Terraria, cycling and playing Monopoly

DelurkingAJ · 03/04/2020 12:17

4 year old...the endless Paw Patrol toys. We caved at Xmas then bought more for his birthday as a at £/play they’re the best toys he has. And it means that DS1 (7) can concentrate on home school. DS1 it’s Switch games to play with DH and Lego.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/04/2020 12:18

My old digital camera! Had the idea to stop DS touching everything he finds on walks and at those stage theres barely a corner of the house unphotographed Hmm Its great though, no more complaining on walks and can use the photos as an ICT lesson when we get home

Redcrayons · 03/04/2020 12:19

The internet.

Tim Berners-Lee should be sainted.

Mummoomoocow · 03/04/2020 12:29

2yo - a colander full of green apples! He literally cannot get enough of them. Counting them, lining them up, bowling them around the floor, collecting and tipping them, I could go on!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/04/2020 12:36

A game on BBC Bitesize called Guardians of Mathematica. DS loves it because he loves maths, and DD loves it because she gets to battle dragons, witches and demons.

Whatevah · 03/04/2020 12:37

Mum that’s reminded me of my 2yo obsession with clothes pegs. I bought him his own and he would play with them all the time.
They have loved getting out on the trampoline, older ones love their tech obv, although that is only allowed after 3pm.
Youngest is now 7, and he is currently really enjoying the National Geographic kids version that I bought the other day.
He likes craft things so is busy with that. Little blighter woke me at 5.30am after a bad dream, he fell back asleep I’m like the walking dead! Off for a snooze (the snoozes are what’s been entertaining me the most!Grin)

oooompa · 03/04/2020 12:44

Peppa Pig. Its the only thing that keeps the 2 year old distracted whilst I try to help the 6 year old with her school work!

LegoLady95 · 03/04/2020 12:48

DS1 (12 with ASD/SLD) trampoline
DS2 (11) younger sister and coding
DD (7) brother and cat

Effinell · 03/04/2020 12:53

Gravitrax, ipad (live webcams at zoos) and Nintendo switch (animal crossing new horizons and pokemon shield)

Changingmyname1234 · 03/04/2020 13:09

Lego
Craft stuff
Jigsaws

FreeButtonBee · 03/04/2020 13:34

Cardboard boxes. Today we have made a pirate ship with gaffer tape and a box.
Tv only lasts so long here before they fight for the controller.
Water play (in The bath or just a washing up bowl and some cups has bought 30 mins of peace)
Colouring in if I do it at the same time as them. I’m kinda getting into it (would never have done it before)

Am incredibly lucky and grateful to have lots of outside space at this time. That helps the most - not much use to those in flats and apartments.

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/04/2020 13:35

Swing /slide/treehouse Playframe and their kindle fire kids editions. Dc should be avoiding trampolines.

ParkheadParadise · 03/04/2020 13:41

Swings and Slide in the garden, also has a playhouse out there.
I have a bottle in the kitchen full of loose change, dd loves to empty it on the floor and put all the different coins together. That activity can last for hours🤣🤣

chorusline79 · 03/04/2020 13:45

Cosmic kids yoga - DD loves it.

Superwhy on amazon prime - I can pretend they're learning!

Garden and walks in the fields down the bottom of the road.

limpingparrot · 03/04/2020 13:49

For 3.5 years and 11 month old
Crafts - for the CBeebies art magazine and it’s taking ages to do every activity. Baby gets to watch and scrunch excess paper
Biking round and round the patio
They love going to the attic and jumping on the sofa up there, probably passes at least 30 mins
Sand table- thank god i bought some play sand early this year- they both potter with this for ages.
Vacuuming, they both love vacuuming and pushing it around the house
