Ridiculous injury - what do I do?

I've sat down to tidy DD's toys away this evening and didn't see that her dolly's wooden cot was also in the toy area. I've sat down really quickly on the edge and cut myself in three places, pretty much on my clitoris (and burst the skin open) and either side, too.

The fucking pain is unbearable. There's three small gashes.

I did this two hours ago and it's still agony, FFS.

Ouch!!!!!

wonderrotunda · 30/03/2020 22:27

Sudocreme?

SirVixofVixHall · 30/03/2020 22:27

Ouch. Are you still bleeding ? Can you very gently rinse the area ? How deep are the gashes ? Hopefully a medical professional will be along in a minute, I am not one ! I imagine it will heal up quickly, but that infection is the thing to watch out for. I have had friends with birth injuries heal speedily, so I hope you heal quickly .

Bloody ouchEnvy

LetTheCabbagesDie · 30/03/2020 22:31

I've got Bepanthen, but not sudocrem.

About 3mm (L) 1.5mm (W) and about 0.5mm (D)

I'm still bleeding but not seriously. The cuts are
just stingy and throbbing. It's the main cut on the clitoris that's a real bugger. (Sorry, appreciate this is seriously TMI!)

Maybe try a tepid shallow bath with a little salt in - it will sting but will clean the area.

MagnoliaJustice · 30/03/2020 22:37

Clean the area and put some antiseptic cream on a panty-liner. Take some painkillers. Give 111 a ring to see if you should be doing anything more.

LetTheCabbagesDie · 30/03/2020 22:40

Don't really want to bother 111 at this time. I'll just do the other stuff.

.....tore mine giving birth. The stitches without anaesthetic were horrendous BUT .....it healed really well. Sympathies x

loubieloo4 · 30/03/2020 22:45

(Nurse)

I think you should be seen, I would keep the area clean and see if you can book an appointment with the nurse at your gp tomorrow.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 30/03/2020 22:52

Oww! Listen to the nurse ^^

Do you have any lavender oil? A few drops of that on a pad helped after both births.

twinkletits99 · 30/03/2020 22:52

Would contact your GP. They are still seeing people and understand that people still have normal worried that aren't coronavirus. They have been asking people to send photos of their injuries/rashes etc but I have a feeling they might not ask you to do that 😅

LetTheCabbagesDie · 30/03/2020 22:54

twinkles the GP's and nurses definitely don't want a photo of my cuts!!

Oh I'd feel really guilty calling them. I have private medical, I'll speak to one of the GP's through that service, if I really won't be wasting their time!

loubieloo4 · 30/03/2020 22:58

@LetTheCabbagesDie

Really don't worry about using your gp or nurse, they won't mind and it might be nice (for want of a better word!) for them to see something other than CV-19!

twinkletits99 · 30/03/2020 23:08

I'm not a GP but I live with one. Trust me they won't mind. The only people I hear being moaned about currently are people who go in with coughs! GPs, from my experience, actually feel really quite sorry for people who can't get in for appointments. Despite their bad press, they feel a really strong duty of care to their patients. Vaginal injury is not something they will mind you calling about one jot!

SingingSands · 30/03/2020 23:10

I did something like this as a kid on a piece of playground equipment. I can still remember the pain! My poor dad was in charge that day so he slathered a load of sudocreme on and gave me paracetamol, so that would be my suggestion!

Now there's a memory I thought was safely buried!!

LetTheCabbagesDie · 30/03/2020 23:22

The bleeding has now stopped, just very swollen. I'll call my private GP in the morning, I doubt I'd be able to get through to my GP surgery on the phone!

SingingSands I was in full blown end of the day tidying up so just sat down really quickly, bloody hell, the shock was something else. Must have been awful as a child.

I’d have a luke warm bath and wouldn’t put anything on it. I wouldn’t bother Gp unless I thought it needed stitching or was infected in a couple of days. I sounds like it just needs time to heal. Most superficial cuts are more painful than deep ones.

SallySun123 · 30/03/2020 23:35

Definitely get it seen. If it doesn’t heal quickly and properly you could be in pain going for a pee for weeks, then you’ll really kick yourself you didn’t get it looked it.

SallySun123 · 30/03/2020 23:35

mineofuselessinformation · 30/03/2020 23:36

DON'T have a warm bath.
All you will do is dissolve any clot over it and set it bleeding again.
If you have any non-stick dressings, put one over the wound and wear snug fitting pants to bed.
If you have any wound cream, like Savlon, slap it on!
I hope you feel better tomorrow.

SoupDragon · 30/03/2020 23:39

Ouch! You'll probably want to be doing the post-birth "pour a jug of water on your bits when peeing" trick.

Jennie1978 · 30/03/2020 23:43

This might sound a bit random but do you have any disposable gloves? When I had a 4th degree tear after child birth. I was given some cool packs to ease the swelling. Is you filled a glove with some ice cold water and tied it up it might ease the pain a little.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/03/2020 02:55

Or teething rings in the fridge?

HalloumiSalad · 31/03/2020 07:51

Germoline is an antiseptic cream... But it also has a local anaesthetic in it. Every little helps. Poor you.
