I was out for a (yes local) wood walk with my DD about 5pm. On the path was this creature. I think it was alive as it seemed to move purposefully. It rolled, on and off, intermittently. V dark grey/black, slightly shiny. MyDD was totally freaked and in fairness it was a bit creepy, so we turned back. But now I’m wondering was it a) in trouble and unwell or b) an exotic pet or something that some authority should know about.

Anyone know, and what should I do, if anything.

Can you tell me what is this ?animal

Initially I thought it was a bag. But its movements were distinctly serious.

Maybe you’re right, maybe it was nothing.

@TaxFool GrinGrin

However I will go tomorrow ASAP with the H and see if it’s still there and report back. It was creepy, I’m telling you. Cat sized beetle. I know it. Grin

Well then I support the rat in a poo bag theory, if it wasn't just a bag!!

Cat sized stag beetle. It may seek you out tonight.

Papergirl1968 · 28/03/2020 21:10

This reminds me of the “injured leopard” spotted in the road - somewhere very unexotic like Sheffield, if memory serves me right! A brave driver turned round and went back to help only to find it was an animal print onesie Grin

OhMsBeliever · 28/03/2020 21:10

I was just looking at the picture and my 12 yo asked why I was looking at a photo of a carrier bag. My cat likes playing in bags. Maybe that was it. You should have let the cat of the bag. Grin

TaxFool · 28/03/2020 21:12

Did it have any discernable limbs when moving?

If not, then yes it have been a rat/rats in a bin bag. When I was in Bangkok, the bin bags would literally come to life in the evenings, it was really gross.

It better NOT be a beetle!

TaxFool · 28/03/2020 21:13

Love the "leopard" in the road 😂

Jellykat · 28/03/2020 21:14

Please go back tomorrow and update!
It maybe my only bit of excitement for the day Grin

Wolfiefan · 28/03/2020 21:15

Oh I so would’ve stopped for the leopard in the road! Blush
If it’s not a rat then it’s zombie dog poo. Grin

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 28/03/2020 21:16

@OhMsBeliever Grin

No, no limbs. Prob like the leopard coat. The creepy thing was the movements. Oh now I think maybe it was a bag of kittens or other cuteness. See? Now my mind is running on overtime. Well at least I’m letting go of it seeking me out tonight. Well I WAS, until I remembered itGrin

That's a Badger Slug.

TaxFool · 28/03/2020 21:20

Oh god. I hope it wasn't a bag of kittens Shock now you really MUST go back and check!

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 28/03/2020 21:21

What’s a badger slug?

oohnicevase · 28/03/2020 21:23

I don't know but I want to!! Could it have been a small deer thing with antlers??

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 28/03/2020 21:23

I will go back. Hopefully not kittens. That would be pretty horrific.

OP posts:
CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 28/03/2020 21:24

Don’t think it was a deer, or Bambi or anything.

wheresmymojo · 28/03/2020 21:29

I'm also worried about kittens in a bag. Dumped because they can't sell them in lockdown Sad

BreatheAndFocus · 28/03/2020 21:29

It’s a bag - but it could have had some poor little creature trapped in it 😕

The injured leopard reminded me of the ‘cat with no pulse’ 🤣

Windyatthebeach · 28/03/2020 21:31

Black bag imo. Mowd in the wind or full of dkittens.
I would go back and look tomorrow op..

Permanantlypuzzled · 28/03/2020 21:31

DD found two kittens in a black bag. Freaked her out when the bag started moving then she heard a faint mewing. That was in a car park.
Hope that’s not what you saw.
Both kittens survived and were found homes.

Permanantlypuzzled · 28/03/2020 21:33

Sorry crossed post.

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 28/03/2020 21:35

I’ll be back tomorrow. I suppose the likeliest was something in a bagSad. Someone might have picked it up after us tho there wasn’t that many out. I’ll go back in the morning.

DH says bat. Head on the right hand side. If it is, it's a big bat!
